Jo felt herself being picked up and shuddered. She quietly mumbled to herself, not really sure if anyone could hear. "Master... he's dead... he's... dead..." Shadows were creeping into the corner of her already blurry eyesight and she felt herself going under again.

Britta glanced down at Jo as she mumbled in her sleep. She had a feeling she knew what the girl was dreaming about. She felt sorry for the girl. She remembered when her own master was killed nearly eleven years ago. It seemed that was a common trigger that sent Padawans spiraling off in their own directions, away from the Order. It made sense, really. Children can't help but get attached to their mentors, especially Jedi children. Many had never known their parents, so who else could they turn to but their masters?

As she walked through the halls of the Jedi Temple, Kat could hear Jo mumbling behind her. Suddenly, she felt a wave of sadness. Many years ago, she too had lost her Master. It was one of the most painful experiences of her life, being separated from one of the only people that mattered to her. She fought with her emotions, forcing them to the side for the moment. There was no reason to dwell on them. There were important duties to be done, afterall.

Jo sighed and drifted on into another dream. This time Kat was with her, it was after her Master's death, and Kat had wittnessed the whole thing. Jo shook her head. "Kat, Kat, it had to be done. Don't you see?" She drew in a shakey breath. "I had too." Glancing back at the crumpled body of her master she winced. I had too...

Britta stopped outside a cell on the prison level. She concentrated a moment and used the Force to hit the button that opened the door. The energy field disappeared and Britta walked into the room. She laid Jo down on the cot there and walked back out of the cell. She hit the button and the shield on the door reappeared.

She looked at Kat,
"She was your friend, wasn't she," she said softly.

Kat looked at up at Britta, sadness still showing in her eyes. Not only because Jo was her friend; not only because of the painful memory of her Master's death. No, there was another source of sorrow. She had seen it all. She had seen Jo murder her Master. She had never shared this with anyone, and probably never would.

"Yes," she replied with a sigh. "We were good friends during our time at the Academy."

Jo awoke, finding herself laying on a small cot. There was a orange laser sheild on one end of the room. On the other side were Kat and Britta. Sighing, she faced the other wall, her back turned to them, and began to meditate. As usual with her, she began to float a few inches off of the cot.

"I've learned in my time alone that you have to be careful about who you trust. I've had people who I thought where friends double cross me more than once," Britta said,"It's a dangerous world and trust shouldn't be given lightly. You never know who'll stab you in the back."

That statement probably didn't help her situation, but hopefully she could prove that she was trust-worthy. Unless of course her motives changed. Britta wasn't ordinarily a selfish person, but if she felt she was in danger or felt it was in her best interests she wasn't afraid to lie and double-cross. That was the benefit of being neutral, no one ever expected her to be on their side. But if she changed sides too often no one would ever trust her. It was a fine line she had to walk.

Kat knew in her heart that Britta was right. Trust had always been a flaw of hers, and it had been the cause of pain in the past. She never understood why she gave her trust away so freely. Perhaps it was because she saw the good in everyone but ignored the bad.

"I know," she said, unable to find better words.

Jo raised an eyebrow but said nothing. She concentrated, a small black cloud of smoke forming around her floating figure. She shuddered again as she contacted him. "I-it has b-been." She gasped from the pain. "It has been done." She clenched her teeth and waited for the voice. Very well done Joesephine, I knew I could count on you... She heard it laugh and sighed releaved as the smooke evaporated and she turned back around to face Kat and Britta.
