Sandyfern nodded, and she sat at the edge of the river. "First, make sure your shadow doesn't go over the water."

Redpaw sat back enough so her shadow didn't cover the water, but so she could still reach.

Sandyfern watched her apprentice. "Now, you have to arch a paw, the paw that will be catching the fish...it is harder then it looks." She meowed, and she arched a paw.

Redpaw copied Sandyfern's movements and nodded,

Sandyfern nodded. "Then you wait for a fish to come." She meowed, there was a fish in her reach, and as quick as lightning, she struck out her paw and threw the fish onto the bank beside her.

Redpaw watched a Small minnow and lashed out a paw, throwing it onto the river bank.

"Good. Now you have to kill it." Sandyfern meowed, and she bit the fish she caught, killing it.

Redpaw copied Sandyfern and watched the fish go limp and cried, "I did it! I have to show Dad!"

Sandyfern purred. "Good job." She meowed, but she hears a noise in the distance, and she flicks and ear.
