Oakstorm and Littlepaw stayed with Sunfrost for a while, and Patchfang went after Emberstar. "You shouldn't of yelled at Sunfrost like that, Emberstar, it wasn't her fault."

[walk.]

Emberstar didn't say anything and continued walking and growled lowly, "You dare oppose your leader Patchfang? She said she would keep him alive and she didn't, simple."

[wolf ;;]

Patchfang sighed. "Gingerpatch's wounds were fatal, I knew that as soon as we arrived, even if we had Pondweed of Skyfoot with us, Gingerpatch wouldn't of lived. And I think Gingerpatch wouldn't want you to go off at Sunfrost."

[walk.]

Emberstar sighed and said, "I've just lost my son Patchfang, can you leave the nagging for later. I may have eight children, but they all meant so much to me. I'll say sorry to Sunfrost but now, I am grieving."

[wolf ;;]

Patchfang nodded. "Do you want me to run ahead and tell everyone?"

Emberstar shook his head and mewed, "I'd rather break the news to the clan myself." he padded up the slope and sighing, padded into the clearing and leapt onto high rock, taking Gingerpatch with him. He mewed, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gathering under high rock for a clan meeting."

Patchfang nodded, and he sat at the Highrock. My cats came out of the dens, their eyes going wide when they saw Gingerpatch's body. Autumnsky and Shadepetal had frozen by the entrance of the warriors den, their gaze on their brother's dead body.

Sandyfern was sleeping in the nursery, not hearing Emberstar.

Emberstar watched wearily, sighing. He looked old, standing there. He still had five lives left. Hawkfang padded over to the she cats and Brazenfire padded out and licked Goldensong who was crying. Falconkit appeared and mewed, "Mumma! Somebody died!"

Shadepetal sighed and stared at her paws sadly. Autumnsky buried her nose into Shadepetal's shoulder sadly.

Sandyfern woke and heard what Falconkit had said, she got to her paws and stretched, then she padded out of the nursery to see who had died. The chestnut brown she-cat came to a stop when she saw Gingerpatch's body, her eyes went wide and her ears drooped.

Falconkit mewed earnestly, "Who is it Mumma? I can't see!" Hawkfang mewed gently, "It's Gingerpatch." Falconkit mewed, "Oh..." Emberstar mewed, "Today, a patrol fiercly defended our camp against a mountain lion, at first, just Oakstorm, Sunfrost and Gingerpatch fought, then Oakstorm came back and we got a stronger patrol. I killed the lion, but Gingerpatch's wounds were too great, he died peacefully, tonight only his closest family will sit vigil."
