The old grey ford pick up rolled up the gravel road violetly spitting rocks out from under it's spinning wheels at rapid speeds. Then it came to a jerking stop when pressure was applied to the touchy breaks. A surprised Matt was tossed forward against the steering wheel as well as the year old Aussie who crashed into the window with a thump and a surprised yelp which James heard from the window he had rolled down to let the wind breath some cool air into the air condition-less ford. James lifted the lock on the corner pf the door up before forcing open the unwilling truck's door. Walking as fast as his long stride could carry him James came to the back of the truck and let the dog out who leap out before the gate had even been lowered down all the way. " I'm sorry Ellie, next time you won't ride in the back. "
" Hey James! " The voice James recognized as his long time best friend, Taylor, and grinned as he turned to greet the young man as his friend leapt from atop the brick wall he sat on along with a few others that Matt recognizes as guys from school. Taylor, who would kill anybody that called him anything but his middle name John, embraced his friend in a respect and non gay half hug before he turned to look at the Aussie mutt that was sniffing the tire of a nearby car. " What cha doin' with Ellie? " He asked like the ever curious child that John was.
" Oh, nothing. I just thought I'd take her along with me. " James said as he called for his dog to come back to him. With a hesitant glance back the way the Aussie had been exploring she trotted back to her master who ruffled the blue grey dappled fur on her thick head. James looked up from the dog's deep chocolately brown eyes to his friend as the two of them pulled theirselves up onto the tailgate of the ford pick-up. " So what are you up to- "
His words were cut off by the appearance of a girl proclaiming quite loudly how good looking she was as she exited the car with a couple who James mused to be her parents. This got the attention of James and john who stared at the new girl. It plain as daylight that this girl was not from anywhere around Kentucky, perhaps not even for the U.S. She wore a lively lime green and white dress with a tied belt around her slender waist. Instead of boots or plain sneakers she wore tall brown heels which in a second were covered in dirt as she stumbled from the concrete into a grass less patch of dirt beside the sidewalk.
Then the dark haired teens fiery gaze was locked on the two best friends who sat in on the tailgate of James' hand-me-down pick-up and she immediately began her assault which only brought amused grins to the two boy's faces as she called the pair of them hillbillies. James watched as his friend launched himself from the truck bed and approached the pretty-faced girl. James watched as his mischievous friend with a playful smirk playing on his lips bowed himself down to her like a humble butler, " Oh I am very sorry Miss, allow myself to dispose of them. " Before a word could be uttered John bent down and pulled the heels off, the boy spun and bolted off after chucking the heel to James who barely caught the designor shoe which flew over his head.
Ellie yipped with excitement at the game that John and bolted after the boy who had disappeared among the mob of boys scrambling to get far from the now one shoed girl. James called for her Ellie and started after her when he realized he still held the girl's shoe who was probably glaring at him now. He turned his forget-me-not colored gaze to her and waited for the hell he knew was coming his way due to his friend.
