♦ I sat under an apple tree, counting leaves that fell. I sigh and stir softly on the lush, green grass. I hope for dear life my horse would be okay. I stand and reach up, easily reaching and picking a ripe, red apple. I sunk my teeth into the juicy fruit, then took a bite. Chewing, I walk away from the tree with the number 34 stuck in my head.
As I walk back to my "farm" house, I stop by a stream nearby. I put my apple down, I'm done anyways, and I dip my hands into the numbing cold water. I cup my hands and dip them in, the take them out. I have a small pool of the freezing stuff in my hands, and I pour it on my head. It sends a chill down my spine, but by now, I'm used to it. I shake the remaining droplets of water out of my thick blonde hair. I wipe my wet hands on my blue shirt, creating dark blue streaks. At an even pace, I run the rest of the way to my house. It's not as much a run as it is a jog. Usually, I'm focused, but I'm thinking about my mare, Belle, so I don't notice the tree root. I get caught on the root and fall, twisting my ankle in the process. I mumble a curse and grab my ankle in pain. Slowly, I stand and limp my way back to my house.
When I arrive, I notice I have't cleaned up in a while, but all I care about is getting ice on my ankle and hoping Belle would be okay. I limp into the kitchen and swing open the fridge. The cold air made the hair on my stick up, and it gave my goosebumps, but I just wanted ice before my ankle could get any more swollen. I get a thin cloth and wrap it around some ice. I close the freezer and got to sit down. I lean back and fall onto my couch, then prop my leg up on the table. Carefully, I arrange the ice on my ankle, then look around, a bored expression on my face.
Just as I get comfortable, Blue starts barking. WHen she barks, Caine barks. I glare at the direction of the sound, then yell, "Blue! Caine! Come!" Thankfully, they both listen. They come padding in, their nails clicking as they come. It's a soothing sound to me, I feel safe. Blue jumps on the couch and licks my face, but Caine just sits by me, leaning his head on the couch. I smile and soon, drift off to sleep. ♦
