Amusement crossed Raggen's face. "Ah-ha." She muttered with a grin. Alright, now he had her attention. Usually she'd expect people like him to threaten her with the money they had, then maybe offer her a small amount of money to be out of their hair, irritated and not feeling to deal with people 'like her'. "I say to that how about no. Whatta' in such a hurry for anyways?" She asked curiously, watching his hair get ruffled from the wind. Doesn't he have all the time in the world? What's he in a rush for? Unless... he's trying to get away from something. A silly thought, obviously, but hey, you could never know.

Raggen stood her ground, her eyes falling to the cigarette, then back to his face, which she still couldn't catch very good details quiet yet. He was just far enough to the point where he's face was still questionable to her.

Frowning for an instant, Michael's face returned to its normal, rather tired looking expression. He didn't feel like going through with this, or even bothering, for that matter, but it was the first interesting thing to happen to him in ages. If he pushed past her, it would be more of the same; CVS for the cigarettes, an internet cafe for wifi and a bagel, and then the long task of avoiding his family for the rest of the day. Certainly nothing to look forward to, especially if he didn't have a bagel. He rather liked bagels, especially the ones with blueberries. He managed to grasp the cigarette between the two fingers on his right hand that weren't involved in holding his coffee, once again tapping the ashes to the gravel beneath his feet. At least she hadn't freaked out on him, almost everyone he knew would have launched into a "you're killing yourself, for the love of all that is holy, stop smoking" routine, leaving him guilty and drained by the end of it. Definitely not something he wanted to hear, and now of all times.

Considering his position, the nineteen-year-old breathed out another cloud of smoke, a bit more thoughtfully, this time. Should he actually tell her something? It wasn't that he desperately needed to get past her, and it was probably the longest conversation he'd had with anyone, much less a girl, in quite a while. "I'm in hurry because, unless I get away from here quick, I'm going to be stuck considering my 'future prospects' with my father all day." Michael spit out the two words with a bit of disdain, not because he didn't value what they meant, but because his father thought he was able to plan ahead to any degree. It wasn't the '70's anymore, and some people just had a bit of trouble getting that through their grey-haired heads.

He was getting irritated already, it was written all over his face. Sitting back down she sighed. "Oh no," She teased, waving her hands with an expression one may use to a child pretending to be afraid of something in a non-terrifying way. "Are your parents gonna come down and come lookin' for ya?" Raggen asked with her famous smirk. "If this is the most fun you ever have, God, do I feel sorry for you." She laughed, shaking her head disapprovingly. "Take some time and slow down for once." Raggen added, her eyes going up to the sky once more. It was more of a rich blue now that the sun had creeped it's way higher into the sky. Falling back onto the boy she tilted her head at him curiously. "This is really what you do for fun?" She couldn't help bust ask, wonder what the rich really did do for fun. Didn't they ever throw crazy parties and get messed up? Ever go out clubbing or maybe just hang out with friends?

She almost wanted him to say no, so that she wouldn't have the feeling of sympathy. Everyone, and she meant everyone should have the time of their life at least once... and it should be good to. Was he really about to just go off downtown and smoke, and loose himself on that fancy laptop of his? Oh well, she'd still give anything to be in his place, just for one day at least...

(Eep, sorry, I'll reply in the morning, a bit bogged down with work right now. And we're not allowed to put pics in our posts? Not repeatedly, anyway? That stinks, I just heard. And I feel bad, because I'm going to give Michael lung cancer or something D:)

(Oh, no, because I have him smoking. I'm not going to make him sick, I wouldn't put the poor guy through that!)

There's two sides, that's the way it is,
and there's nothing we can do to change that.
Michael breathed out yet another cloud of smoke, blinking slightly as it got into his eyes and nose. There was certainly a downside to all of this. He certainly hadn't been talked to in such a manner for a very long time, but at least it was interesting. Well, more humiliating than interesting, his "friends" could come along at any second, bringing with them question after question about what he was doing here with this strange girl! That wouldn't do at all. Trying his best not to show these thoughts on his face, the boy took a quiet sip from his coffee, taking the time to swallow and wipe his mouth on the back of his hand before replying. He needed all of the time he could to figure out how to end this!

Sighing slightly, he tilted his head back, evidently thinking. What did he do for fun? He didn't have any real companions of any sort, it was only his family that he saw on a daily basis, now that school was out, and look what measures he was taking to avoid them! It certainly irritated him that she thought he was pampered, though it was certainly true. And she was the one pitying him! Michael rolled his eyes, "I do plenty of other things for fun, like..." he paused, blue eyes narrowed as he pondered the question. She'd think he was such a loser if he didn't say anything, God, this was uncomfortable. "I go Downtown, a lot. And I make music. I'm a musician." It came out sounding awkward, like it was a job, not a hobby, but it would have to do, for now. Being a musician always sounded interesting, or at least that's what some people had told him. Even if it was only a violin, and not terribly interesting.
(I miss my smoke I had over there, but no images in the posts, I guess D:)

Raggen grinned in a mischievous fashion as his he paused to think a moment, buying himself time to think about what he was going to say as he took a long sip of his coffee and took time breathing out the horrible smelling smoke. Good thing he was standing a few meters away, or she'd start coughing up a storm. The moment he'd mentioned he like playing music she straightened up a little at that fact. Was there actually something that her and a rich snob could actually have in common? What a strange thought... Raggen shook herself from drifting off into another path of thoughts disconnecting her from reality. Her amber eyes fell to his laptop that was hooked by his fingers and hanging at his side. "You better be careful if you're goin' downtown with that fancy trinket." She pointed out, motioning to it by nodding her head to the thin computer. "I'd suggest takin' a different route than you usually do, if ya headed to the little cafe." Raggen added, unlocking her arms from the cross they'd been in and placing her hands on her hips.

The strange thing about her words... was that she was actually serious. There'd been a lot of mugging on the streets lately now that the economy is really tanking, and a laptop like that walking into downtown while he was dressed like that - he didn't stand a chance. People would be jumping at the opportunity to snag and pawn it.

There's two sides, that's the way it is,
and there's nothing we can do to change that.
His hands had started shaking slightly from the cold; the day hadn't been as balmy as he expected it to be. He hadn't thought about his laptop being a danger, though he supposed she was right. It could just mean that she was going to steal it from him, and all of his files were on there, but what kind of thief would warn their victim? She was doing a lot of grinning, and she had straightened up when he mentioned his music. Maybe she played too? Probably not the violin, though. He had barely been smoking for a few minutes, but it was almost too hard to juggle his various items. What did she mean by another route? He only knew of one, across the train tracks, through some of the cheaper housing projects, past a park, and into the shopping district. Funny, how the two nicer areas of town were split apart by the...less hospitable one. But that's just the way things worked, around here, anyway.

Taking a deep breath of cold air, all the while wishing he had brought a sweater, a thought occurred to Michael. Considering it for a moment, then pushing it to the side, he asked the obvious question "Which way do you mean?" He certainly hadn't heard of any other way, but that didn't mean it wasn't there. As far as he knew, this was the most direct route. Like she said, though, not the safest. "Um, could you point me to it?" Urk, she would think he was some creeper. Why had he even left the house?
