[Scottish Girl]

Andrew looked up at her in surprise as he heard the words, wondering if it was her mouth they had come out of,"I'm fine, I've had a lot worse by a lot stronger and bigger," he said, standing up straight and rubbing his arm. He had pain killers so the pain had numbed, but he still felt it.

He heard footsteps and heard a girls voice, then stepped back slightly, but saw it wasn't the girl who hit him and relaxed. Andrew couldn't defend himself if a free person decided to h him, it was against the law and he could get in large trouble for stopping a master hitting him. He looked rather nervous,"Do you want to go down to the stables?" he asked, not wanting to stay out in the moment a momet longer then needed.

Ashlyn nodded. "Alright, alright. Let's go," She began to head towards the stables, seeming rather calm. Her mind wasn't, though. She didn't want any of her siblings to touch him...well, Aidan could if he wanted to. He was so young and wasn't violent at all, just an innocent boy. Out of everyone in the house, he had to be her favorite. He listened even though he didn't understand. He always liked to play and seemed oblivious to troubles and pains. He was just always so happy. "I think you should meet Aidan. He wouldn't hit you like that since he's so young. He'd like you to play with him." She smiled to herself. "Well, other than Aidan, I just want you to know you don't have to work or be on edge around me. I don't hit people like my little sister."

Andrew nodded softly, but did no tin the least relax, mainly because he had never learnt how to. He went down to the stables and wasn't looking where he was going. There was a crash as Andrew fell over something quite large, and hearing a giggle. Andrew scrambled up and looked around, sighing softly as he saw a little boy sittif on the ground laughing,"I cannot catch a break," he said softly. He had been here ten minutes and he had already been punched and fallen over a little child. He dusted himself up and crossed his arm as the little boy continued to chuckle. Andrew looked at him for a second then closed his eyes, turning around quickly. He couldn't go near the boy, he reminded him too much of his little sister who was back in Scotland.

Ashlyn followed him, rather clueless herself, but him falling over caught her attention. She sighed, shaking her head. "What are you doing here, Mister? I thought I told you to go off and play, but in the stables?" She knelt down in front of the boy, trying to hold back a laugh. "You'll disturb some of the stable hands." She pet the boy's head as if he were a dog, though she knew he wasn't. "Sorry, Andrew. I'll get him out of here. He isn't supposed to be in here, anyways." Ashlyn sighed, standing up slowly.

Andrww shook his head,"It's fine," he said, shaking his head softly as he walked along the rows of horses until he got to one, then opened it and led out a large white mare who was looking rather Frisky. He put a hand on her nose to quieten her down,"Have you ever ridden?" he asked curiously as he went into one of the stalls and took out a bridal and saddle, putting the saddle on and tightening the girth before slipping the bridal on. He smiled,"Normally you just mount on a black, but on official occassions you might by standing on a slave," he explained.

"Uh, yes, I have. My father kinda made it seem like I didn't, but I have," Ashlyn stood back and just watched him, smiling. "I used to hang around horses all the time. I'd sit here in their stalls, talking to them, giving them treats. It was quite fun, but every time I come in here, there's always one with the hope I'll bring something." She sighed, remembering her younger years with fondness. Dogs and horses were her favorite animals, and when she was in the house and in her bed, she would sleep with and old puppy of hers. That puppy soon turned into a big black lab and died a while ago. Then you had the horses here...if they were put out in the pasture, she would sit up against the fence watching them, one always by her side. She would sit in their stalls, and, one night, she slept with one of the horses in this very barn. She brought out a huge blanket, wrapping it around herself and the horse. Leaning up against it, she fell asleep there and awoke to a slave early in the morning, saying he wouldn't speak and taking her into her room so there would be no trouble. The slaves...that was right. Almost all the slaves here had helped her in someway, just because she liked to defend them. In fact, the slaves here were probably true friends of hers. She knew many of their names, knew their relatives, knew what they liked...the skin didn't matter to her. She was a true abolitionist.
"Yeah, I know that. You planning to give me a boost onto this beauty over here?" Ashlyn stepped closer, smiling. "I can do it myself, you know. My father won't know."

Andrws smiled softly,"It is okay, I have done it a hundred times, and trust me you are a lot lighter then some of the people I have had to help up," said Andrew as he tightened the girth. He patted he made on the neck slightly with a small smile and went around to he other side to fix the stirrups,"And a few times I've had a prince or too who decided it would be easier to stand on my shoulder. Never date a prince, they are all *ss's,"warned Andrew as he dropped the saddle, made sure it was on securely. He kneeled down and put his hands on top of one another and held them on his knee,"Trust me, I have done this a hundred times, unless you want to ride a shelf land pony," he said, raising his eye Ross with a cheek grin. The mare stood beautifully still, it's eyes constantly on Andrew, ready to obey any command. It wasn't even bothered by the small boy who was playing.

Ashlyn chuckled. "Never planned on it. I don't like rich people at all. Simpler people are more my type," She smiled, placing one foot into the stirrup and the other onto his hand. She felt herself being pushed upwards, instinctively throwing her leg over the mare's rump and fitting her foot into the stirrup. She shifted slightly, enjoying the feel of being on a horse once again. It had been forever since she had last been on one. The whole time up until now she was a bit caught up in her reading. Almost constantly, there would be a book in her hand. She made people wait to speak and even read them during dinner. It was a time of complete and total addiction. Now, it was still a big factor in her life, but not as big as before. It was kind of odd, she knew that much. Most of the local boys viewed her as a complete and total dork.
"Thanks Andrew.Am I really all that light to you?"

Andrew laughed softly,"I've been doing this for fourteen years," he said as he tightened the girth once again. He sighed softly and walked towards the door, the horse following him immediately, without any hesitation. Andrew walked out to the pasture, and the horse followed without being led. Andrew looked at the horse, clicked his tongue softly, and as if knowing what to do the horse pro ked it's ears up and started to walk, then to trot slowly, and continuing going faster and faster.

Ashlyn wasn't nervous or afraid of the horse, no. It was nice to be on the back of one of them again. She kept her self balance on the back of the mare, reigns in her hands loosely for the time being. The speed wasn't the thing that affected her, it was more of the bouncing, but she knew the faster the mare went the smoother it would be. That was basic knowledge. So, she kept as loose as her body would let her on the back of the white horse, but not too loose. When Ashlyn came to a point when she thought she should turn, she pulled the reigns in that direction, the beautiful mare obeying and changing direction. She grinned, obviously having some good fun here.
