She wiped off her face with a corner of the napkin. "Well, when your hungry, you tend to forget table manners." She said with a grin, and cleaned off her hands. "I would love a little more." Without waiting for him to give her more, she darted to the dish and pulled off a large chunk from a side he hadn't bitten. She set it down on the table and, this time, ate it neater then before. "Food. It's a great word, don't you agree?" She said, already halfway through the big chunk.

((Sorry, no muse.))

"Guess so." Dex murmured, smirking lightly down at Ain before picking up what was left of his danish and popping it into his mouth, the blending of flavours so strange tasting just magical. "Least you like it. Actually helped to make this little treasure. Accidentally dumped the marmalade on one of Luke's chocolate danishes, and someone ate it." He said with a smirk on his face, licking his fingers before wiping them off on the napkin on the table. He had poured the coffee for Ain, but he was starting to think that she wasn't going to drink it. Grinning lightly, he leaned forwards on his elbows and watched her eat. It really was pretty cute.

"Try dunking it in the coffee. The bitterness with all the other flavours makes it taste even better." He said lightly, having finished off his coffee after speaking, ironically feeling sleepy upon finishing his coffee. He laid his head on the table and sighed, his breath smelling more like chocolate than coffee now. He had his arms curled around his head.

Ain paused when eating. "Coffee? Oh yeah!!!" She quickly grabbed the ketchup holder and drank it. "Yesh. Just like i remembered it. Well... maybe a little better." She quickly finished it off and slumped back against the tissue box. "I always believed accidents helped more then harmed. Of course, I've been proven wrong so many times, but the danish thingy totally makes me right." She grinned. "So... hows your day? Despite the rain. And... a wasted mom. And pro'ly a bad dad... maybe. You know, forget I even ask."

Dex was pretty quiet until Ain started to ramble. He crasked a grin, laughing once she shut her mouth again. "Never knew my dad, just so you know." He chuckled before stretching his arms over the table before wrapping them around his head again. "Well, hasn't been the most typical day." He said lightly, tempted to lay across the booth's seat just to take a nap. This place was like his bedroom. He has slept here before, has come here when he was upset, and a few times in his life, he has actually changed in this very cafe. Luke was a good friend, having been his baby-sitter when he was younger. so it wasn't too big of a deal, but people did find it a little strange.

Ain blinked. "Well, thats something we kinda have in common. Never knew my mum. Wish I did though. I bet having a mum would be awesome..." She trailed off. "I should learn to not say things. Half the time, I ramble, one forth the time, I say rude things with or without realizing it, and one forth I'm being somewhere in between." There was a short silence. Ain shifted herself so she was laying flat on her back, using the rest of the tissue as a pillow. The silence grew a little longer before she finally spoke. "Not saying things is hard. My pa always said I couldn't stop talking. I told him I could whenever I wanted, and he laughed and dared me not to talk for a whole month." Her hands moved to lay on her stomach, and she stared at the ceiling. "I dun' know how, but I did it. He let me chose where we borrowed from. We never had a home, you know. It was just me and him. We went everywhere we could, though we avoided other Borrowers. Pa said he didn't want to bug 'em, but I knew why he really avoided 'em. He would get really weird around others, sorta twitchy, and he couldn't ever sit still. And when he would speak, his voice would start halting at every word. I really miss him." She fell silent again. "... I'm rambling, aren't I?" She asked, and turned to Dex, lying on her side. On finger began twisting a lock of her hair, even after it began getting snarled.

((X3 Guess she's a rambler. She's kinda unlike most of my other charries... normally, their quiet and shy, but she is waaayy different. YAY Doing something new!))

With a light grin, Dex listened to Ain talk about her dad, her life. He found it fascinating to learn about a tiny girl's life. It was so strange that there was a little world within the one he knew every single day. "Doesn't really bother me. It's amazing enough to even think that you're even here right now. I mean, just look at you compared to everything around you. You're on a tissue, for pete's sake." He laughed before looking over at the counter to make sure that Luke didn't come back out to catch him talking to the tissue box. He was about to go on, talking to Ain, but before he could, the door to the store opened up with the ringing of a bell causing Dex to panic, having pulled another tissue from the box and threw it over Ain.

"Dexter. All alone in the cafe again?" A smug girl smirked, her friend shaking the rain from the umbrella that she was carrying. Her bleach blonde friend had gone off to order what they wanted before the smug girl walked up to the table and slid herself into the booth, sitting right across from Dex. Just looking at Dex's face was sign enough that he was peeved. He hated his name, having shortened it enough so that he didn't sound like a nerdy antisocial dork that spent all his time in his basement playing Dungeons and Dragons. "Told you not to call me that, Cathleen." Dex answered back, mimicking the girl's tone. Cathleen had black hair, streaked with red as a sign of her individuality, even though half of the county was doing the exact same thing…

"I might be on a tissue, but its way more comfortable then a metal chair." She said with a shrug and a good natured smile. She opened her mouth to say more, but yelped when the door to the coffee shop opened. Ain held still as Dex threw another tissue over her, hiding her from view of the two girls that entered.
She giggled slightly when she heard Dex's full name, and quickly clamped her mouth shut. Great! Stupid humans are stupid... well, other then the not stupid ones. Like Dex. Dexter. I like Dex better. She was already finding it hard to remain still, her ankle and back choosing them to itch terribly. She tried to distract herself with thoughts. Cathleen, eh? I dun' like you, Cathleen! You can eat my poop! Well... not really. How about you eat some dirt instead? Or fertilizer!

Dex grumbled softly, looking down at the tissued before scooping it up with Ain curled up in his palm. "You could always just talk to your friend over there. Or text, thunder thumbs." He hissed, turning his head to look out the window. He absolutely hated people. Especially those who intentionally bothered him like this. The look on Cathleen's face tempted him to wipe it permanently from her face. He was in Luke's store, though… He couldn't give him any bad publicity, so he bit his lower lip and leaned himself back before putting Ain down on the seat beside him. He did it only so that he could curl his hands into fists just to calm his anger.

Cathleen didn't say a word, her friend walking over with two DUTCH Danishes and smoothies. That explained why they came here, but that didn't explain to him at all why they were sitting with him.

"Your hair's a mess, Tex." Cathleen's friend, Maria, said, having intentionally gotten Dex's name wrong just to tick him off. Dex grumbled softly before glaring down at his lap and biting back his fury. "You two could always ask your prissy boyfriends to drive you out of here. Or did you get tossed off again?" Dex growled back before having his glares returned to him by two very angered girls.

Ain bit her lip to keep from yelping when a hand closed around her and the tissue. She hoped it was Dex, and not one of the snotty girls he was talking to. Just it case it wasn't, though, she refrained from squirming.
When she was set down again, she carefully poked her head out to see who she was by. It was Dex, thankfully, and the two girls couldn't see her from her position. Ain listened to their rude remarks, and couldn't help but smile. Dex really knows how to make a girl angry. She thought happily, thoughts already devising plans to mess with these two humans. She had done something like this before, but just without having a human for a... friend? She shrugged inwardly. Dex, I am somehow magically compelling you to do as I say! Like, really. Say something nice about her hair or something, catch her off guard. Then... uh... I don't know where I'm going with this. She smiled. Maybe you could say something nice, but then somehow twist the meaning or something? I dunno how to do that though.... huh.
Ain hid back under the tissue, hoping the one of the girls didn't have like a teacup puppy in a purse or a kitten or something. For some reason, dogs hated her, and cats adored her. Either way, it would give away her position. Ain turned over, already discarding the thoughts. They would have found her by now anyway, if they had an animal with them.

This certainly was turning out to be quite the day, the girls having continued to eat in silence for a few moments while Dex just glared out the window. He almost forgot about Ain, looked down at the tissue just as Ain slipped back under it. He placed his hand over the tissue so that Ain wouldn't have to worry about getting discovered if she moved too much and waited for these two prissy girls to leave him alone.

It wasn't long until they piped up again, their voices piercing through Dex's mental barrier and causing him to roll his eyes. He didn't even hear what they had said to him, but it was along the lines of him not having a girlfriend at all. He merely shrugged at that, turning to glare at the girls sharply. "I don't have one because every girl I've ever met always turns out to be like one of you plastic dolls with your unnatural dying hair and tacky press on nails. I don't need a girl who wreaks of perfume and only hangs around me so that I by them expensive trinkets that they are too poor or stingy to get by themselves." He growled out, having moved his hand from around Ain and standing up, having almost pushed the table far enough to pin the girls to their seats. This store wasn't the nicest, the tables weren't bolted to the floor, and almost everything could be picked up and tossed.

"I've had enough." He hissed on more time before pulling the table away from them and gesturing towards the door. "I have no trouble beating up people like you. Girls, or not. You're not exactly ladies." He grumbled softly before he glared a moment longer, the two putting on fearful faces before hiding them behind expressions of disgust. They had gotten up, huddled under their umbrella as they ran away, Luke having come out from the back room and Dex still standing by the table.
