The male beta wolf lay flat on his back, a large scar stretched across his back, of which was throbbing. Shay was in significant pain, and had been injured a few days ago. He had survived without food, but had found a source of water. Still, the last time he had drank a liquid was the day before. His lungs were blocked, and he was unable to breath. Flies were beginning to circle at him and chew on his scar, and mosquitoes were biting at his paws. Shay longed for his mate, Dawn, and he wanted to be with the rest of the wolves in the pack. "Dawn.." he whispered to the thin air, his eyes narrowing as the sun shone on his face and pelt. "Dawn.. where are you.." he silently said. "Anyone?" that was his last word, before he howled in pain and lay on his side, breathing deeply and slowly.

Levon waited in line, licking her fangs. She was starving, as she hadn't eaten in a while. Beneath her soft coat of fur, her ribs were showing. She had been feeling sick, which had caused her to be unable to eat. Every time she took a bite of anything, she would be sick by the pond. But that morning she had gotten better, and couldn't wait to eat again.

Dawn was done with the meat on the leg and was gnawing at the bone. Once she was sure there was nothing left, she buried the bone and padded up to Splash. With a respectful dip of her head, the Beta-Female said in a quiet voice, "Splash, with your permission, I would like to go look for Shay. He's been gone for a few days now and I'm getting really worried. He might be trapped somewhere... Or hurt even." She broke off, one ear twitching nervously at the thought. "May I go? Alone?" she whispered the last word. Her light cream pelt sparkled a little in the light. Dawn's deep, indigo eyes bore into Splash's, practically begging her to let her find her beloved, missing mate.

Splash-Alpha-Female

The Alphess finished swallowing a chunk of meat before raising her head and looking at Dawn. Splash twitched and ear and glanced at the wolves around them, waiting to get at the doe. Then were all to focused on the prey to be listening in. Splash responded quietly. "Of course. Go, find him. Don't take to long or get hurt yourself. I don't want to lose my friend. You're too important to me." She smiled and leaned forward to touch her nose to Dawn's before pulling back and turning towards the Hunters and Defenders. "Come! Eat!" As they rushed forward, Splash turned to her Beta once more and jerked her head towards the entrance. "Go on. Be safe." She crouched down and pulled at a strip of meat on the doe.

Accalia-Hunter-Female

Ace didn't let a heartbeat pass before she was on her paws and crouched over the doe. Growling at the other wolves as they pushed and shoved around her, Ace sank her glistening teeth into the meat. Her muzzle was soon coated with blood.

Fenris-Defender-Male

Fenris padded through the sparse undergrowth in the forest blanketed with snow. The sun was getting closer and closer to the horizon and the sky was becoming tinged with hues of pinks and oranges. It was rather quiet among the trees. His paws made a soft crunch in the snow and that was the only sound that broke the silence while he walked through the shadows that were forming. The defender was content with that. Quiet meant no one was around to bug him. Fenris continued on until he heard an eerie howl. He paused mid-step and raised his head higher, ears perked, listening and trying to determine where the sound had come from. He sniffed at the air and a scent drifted on the soft wind towards him. Shay? Fenris quickened his pace and made his way towards where he thought the sound had come from, guided only by that and the tiny trickle of a scent trail.

Levon's face brightened and her smile widened, as Splash mentioned that the Defenders and Hunters were now able to eat. Incredibly excited, Levon almost launched herself towards the food. Fortunately, she stopped herself and passed Splash. When she had reached the Alphess, Levon stopped. She dipped her head. "Thank you, leader. I am glad to be healthy and bubbly again," she said to the alpha female, before sitting down beside Accalia and staring at the food. Wow... she thought to herself, licking her teeth. I haven't been able to enjoy and contain this much food in what seems like a decade. As her thoughts topped buzzing around her head, Levon dug into the meat, her fangs piercing the meat. She chewed on the meat, head up so she could swallow it up. As she ate the first bit of meat, a smile spread across her face. She hadn't felt this good and happy in a while. Levon took another few gulps, before declaring she should probably take a little break, until all the meat had broken down.

Shay clawed at the ground, his tail whacking the dirt, so that dust flew into the air and spread across the forest. He coughed, and once he started, he couldn't stop. After approximately four minutes, Shay's eyes closed. He was not dead, nor was he unconscious. He was simply trying to imagine he was with the pack, eating, instead of experiencing the pain that he was having.

Dawn smiled gratefully, letting out a sigh of relief. She licked Splash's shoulder before saying, "Thank you Splash. And you won't, I'll be fine." She looked at her before saying, "I promise." Then she turned around when the others started to eat and dashed towards the camp entrance, disappearing shortly afterwards. The beautiful fae ran fast, trying to pick up some sort of scent trail. But she found nothing. She let out a growl of frustration after an hour of finding nothing. Dawn stopped her pacing across the forest and stood still. After a deep breath, she faced the sky and let out a long, lowd howl. It sounded eerie and mysterious, and a little desperate. But she was desperate; desperate to find her lover.

Once she finished letting out the clear, long note, she looked back down, catching her breath. She hopped up onto her hind legs only, leaning against a tree on a hill, forepaws grabbing onto the bark. She stood up, with her ears pricked for any response. Her dark blue eyes flitted around, trying to find any sign that Shay had been here. "Come on, Shay... don't give up on me now..." she muttered. Dawn wondered if her packmates could hear her longing howl echoing through the trees.

Flint was sitting under the shdae of a tree nearby when he heard the note. "Dawn?" He called, getting to his paws and padding towards her scent.

Shay heard a familiar howl, coming from north of where he was. "Dawn.. Dawn? Could it be?" he whispered. Shay almost instantly felt better, although the pain in his stomach remained. He got up onto all four paws, and limped towards the direction of which the howl came from. Shay lifted his head and took a deep breath, before letting out the loudest howl he had ever let escape. After the communication to Dawn stopped echoing around the valley, Shay kept walking, every step giving him more damage, and becoming more painful for him. His queasy feeling disappear, as he caught the scent of Dawn. "Dawn!" he called out loudly.

Splash-Alpha-Female

Splash watched Dawn leave and then turned with a smile to the she-wolf as she spoke. "As am I, Levon." She watched her pack eat for a moment before snatching up one last piece of meat and trotting over to the side of the clearing. Her jaws opened in a large yawn and her teeth snapped together as it passed. Splash perked her ears and looked out towards the forest when a clear note rang out through the trees. Dawn. She flicked an ear. I hope she finds him.. The Alphess laid down then and blinked her blue eyes shut with her muzzle resting on her paws.

Fenris-Defender-Male

Fenris pulled up again when another howl ran with the wind towards him, this time from the opposite direction. This one was distinctly female. It wasn't deep enough to be a male. He flicked his tail before continuing on the scent trail he'd found. Another howl came from Shay, louder than it had been before. He was closer and it seemed like Shay was on the move, based on the difference of where the sound had been, but he couldn't be sure. Fenris could tell he was still a little ways away, but he knew it wouldn't be long before he found the male.
