Levi watched his sister slide the bottle down the polished surface of the table, obviusly deliberately avoiding taking it to him. He finished cutting the pancakes, picked up the bottle of syrup, pouring it over the thick, fluffy pancakes that were cut into squares. He glanced up, shaking his head, raising a brow, before returning his attention to the food in front of him.
Emilee noticed the girl's looks. " He hasn't smiled since our mother died three years ago. " she said, almost inaudibly. Obviously, Levi heard, because his eyed darkened and his fork hit the plate. He stood abruptly and hissed through his teeth, " You do not speak of her! " before he stormed out of the room, the doors slamming shut behind him. That made it obvious he was close with their mother.
