Violet awoke with her spirit alight and her eyes twinkling, a hour before her alarm clock had bothered to go off. She jumped up quickly, checked the date on her calender, just to be sure... yes, yes! Today she was fourteen, and finally, her parents would let her embark on her Pokemon journey! (This is about the point where I realize it's about to get super corny, so I skipped the whole pep-talk...)
Violet leaped down the steps two at a time, nearly stumbling in her haste to get to the kitchen, and without looking where she was going ran smack-dab into her mother, who looked as if she was carrying breakfast up to her daughter -- well, whatever she had made, it was all gone now.
"Violet!" she scolded, 'Carry yourself with a little more dignity!" Ah, dignity. It was a word her mother used often, and one that she had a lot of respect for.
"Sorry," breathed Violet, looking winded but ecstatic. "I just... I can't wait! Can't I go see Professor Hawthorne now?" she pleaded, one hand reaching for the bright red backpack that was slumped on the floor. Violet's mother smiled, putting her hand over Violet's a gently lowering it.
"I'm sorry, Violet, but Professor Hawthorne has already given away all her starter Pokemon," said Violet's mother. Violet's mouth fell open.
"W-what?" stammered Violet, obviously shocked. Had her mother really, actually done this to her? Made her be late to get a Pokemon, so that she could become a trainer? Her ears grew hot as the anger built inside her -- her mother was protective, but this was beyond anything--
"Yes... I wanted to give you your first Pokemon myself," cut in her mother, and Violet seemed to cool down immediately. "Do you remember your uncle?" Violet vaguely remembered that her uncle in Kanto owned a Pokemon breeding center, and numbly shook her head yes. "Well, we were talking about you becoming a trainer and decided that we would give you... this," said her mother, holding out a bright red Pokeball. Violet clapped her hand over her mouth -- a Pokemon. Her own mother was giving her her first... ever... Pokemon...

“Madeline? Madeline, are you awake?” Doctor John Quinn slowly peaked his head into his daughter’s bedroom. He stopped as he saw a 14 year-old girl shaped lump still occupying the queen sized bed. He sighed gently. “Last night you told me you’d be up hours ago,” He mummed, “You even set your own alarm clock.”
Just as the words exited his mouth, his eyes landed on the said alarm clock. Or what was left of it anyways. Its parts were scattered around a rather nasty dent in the wall. A very alarm clock sized dent. Another sigh.
Making his way over to her bed, he decided it was time to wake her; being careful to take notice of the Eevee in her arms. Most likely their ditto, Gadget. He never did like staying in his original form. Turning his attention back to his daughter, he slowly began to shake her awake.
“Madeline? Time to wake up, hun.” Ever so slowly, light sea-green eyes began to flicker open. “Madds, if you don’t wake up now you’re going to be la-”
“I GOTTA GO!” The next few moments were filled with chaos, as Gadget was flung in one direction and her blankets another. The doctor himself just barely missed the experience of a broken nose, only to find himself being pushed, none to gently, out of the room.
“Out! Out now!” Maddie ordered, shoving him out of the door, “I have to get ready!”
John turned, snide comment at the ready, only to have the door slammed in his face. He sighed. “Well, might as well go make breakfast..”

{:: Violet ::}

"What is it?! What is it? squeals Violet, snatching the Pokeball from her mother's hand. She wasn't angry anymore -- she was, quite possibly, the happiest she had ever felt at the anticipation of receiving her first Pokemon. What could it be? Any, really, from Kanto, she remembered her uncle breeding just about every Pokemon. Maybe a Bulbasuar, or a Sandshrew, or, or... unable to wait to find out any longer, Violet raised her hand and threw her first-ever-Pokeball.
It was a bit of a slow motion experience for Violet. The Pokeball spun in midair, falling slowly toward the ground. It bounced once, twice, before opening and bouncing back in a flash of light. Violet caught it in her hand again, watching the Pokemon materialize in the flash of light.
"Eee! A Growlithe!" Violet squealed (much to the displeasure of her mother. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she said, and wrapped her arms tightly around her mother, who patted her one the back fondly.
"His name is Pyro," Violet's mother said, "Take care of him, or he isn't going to like you much."

John was sitting at their kitchen table when he finally heard his daughters footsteps racing down the stairs. Turning, he raised an eyebrow at Maddie's appearance. Her tan satchel was slung over her shoulder as she tried to adjust her favorite pair of goggles with one hand, using the other hand to carry Gadget, still in eevee form, while a pair of fingerless black gloves dangled from her mouth. He held up her plate just as she ran by, and she did a quick trade off. Throwing Gadget into his lap, Maddie grabbed the food with her now free hand.
"Thanks dad!" She called over her shoulder, right before the door slammed shut. John gave a humorous look to the rather dazed pokemon lying in his lap.
"5, 4, 3, 2-" The door flew back open and Maddie was suddenly by his side, snatching Gadget, and gone again. Slamming the door for the second time that day. "One."

{:: Violet ::}

"I'm going to love him for all eternity!" Violet said, her voice an octave higher than a Pikachu. "Here, Pyro!" she called, falling to her knees and opening her arms, imagining a beautiful scene where the Growlithe would run happy into her arms -- but it didn't move. Instead, Pyro stood, walked over to Violet and circled her, looking as if he was evaluating his new trainer. Then he sat down in front of her and let out a little huff, sticking his nose up with an air of superiority. The message was obvious: There will be no hugging here.
Violet frowned at her new Pokemon's complete lack of enthusiasm, but her mother patted her on the shoulder comfortingly and smiled. "He'll get used to you -- he's just got to have some time to adjust," she said, and Violet gave a sigh on resignation, standing up. "Why don't you let him walk with you?" her mother suggested, and Violet seemed to perk up at this.
"Okay!" she said, grabbing her bag from the ground. "Can I go now? Please?" she asked -- her mother smiled.
"Don't forget your breakfast."
After wolfing down as much food she could in as little time as possible, Violet jumped up, toppled over her chair, and gave her mother an enormous hug. "Thank you!" She breathed, kissing her mother on the cheek, and then walking as fast as she could to the door (her mother didn't let her run in the house.) "Goodbye!" she called dramatically, flinging open the door and stepping out into the world (where, thankfully, Pyro followed). She saw her mother waving all the way until Violet passed over a hill, and her home was out of sight.

Maddie panted heavily as she threw open the door to her local professors lab. She stayed there for a moment, breathing heavily, and holding onto the door-frame for support. Professor Aspen just stared at her. After a few moments, she pushed herself up right again, a confident gleam in her eyes.
"Okay. I'm here." She announced, standing proudly. The professor continued to stare. Gadget finally made it to the doorway and managed to make it to her side, before collapsing onto the ground. Maddie gave him a puzzled look. "I thought you were on my shoulder.."
The said pokemon glared at her. "Eeeeeevee eevee."
Maddie gave him a sheepish look. "Heh.. Whoops?" More glaring. With a shrug she turned her attention back to the professor.
"What are you doing here?" Aspen asked, rather bluntly. Maddie sent him a confused look.
"Umm.. Today's the day I start my adventure as a pokemon trainer..?" She ventured. Surely her own Pokemon professor hadn't forgotten? He continued to stare at her.
"And?" He raised an eyebrow at her.
".. I- um. Aren't you suppose to give me stuff now?" He wanted blunt, she could do blunt.
"But you already have a pokemon." He countered, his expression becoming one of boredom. She opened her mouth, but closed it again. Finally she let out a frustrated sigh.
"Okay fine, I'm taking Gadget. Not one of your starters. Get over it and just give me my stupid PokeBalls and Dex already!"
There was a moment of stunned silence, before the Professor suddenly grabbed her up in a hug. "I'm gonna miss you soo muchhhh!"
"Ohh. Thats.. Nice. Thank-you. For.. That. Yes. Um. Get off me now, kay?" She awkwardly stated, attempting to wiggle out of his grasp. She sent a pleading glance to Gadget, who seemed to be silently laughing at her. "Why does this always happen to me..?"

A few hours later, Maddie and Gadget were on there way. After finally getting Professor Aspen to cough up the PokeBalls and Dex, and a quick stop back home to say their last good-byes, their adventure had begun. Maddie couldn't help, but to grin widely at that. Finally, after years of waiting, she was a pokemon trainer.
"Let's do this, Gadget!" She squealed, breaking off into a fast run. The Pokemon's eyes widened in surprise, before a smile developed on his face as well, and he quickly sprinting to catch up.

Violet's local Professor was a little haywire, which would explain why he wouldn't answer until Violet had been banging and yelling at his door for over twenty minutes. Just as she was about to consider giving up, the door suddenly flew open and there was Professor Hawthorne, his grey hair stuck up at odd angles and his eyebrows raised high on his forehead.
"A little late to get your starter Pokemon, eh dearie?" he croaked, taking a sip of the cup of tea in his hand. Violet smiled.
"My mother gave me one!" she said proudly, stepping aside to show off the Growlithe who was sitting behind her. "His name is Pyro!" Pyro regarded Professor Hawthorne with as much distaste as he had first given Violet, maybe even more so. True to his name, he gave a low little growl.
Professor Hawthorne considered this for a moment before hesitantly stepping inside, keeping an eye on Pyro the entire time. "Well, he can come in as long as he doesn't wreck the couch."
"Oh, he's well trained," said Violet, even though she had no idea.

When Violet had finally received her PokeDex and Poke Balls from Professor Hawthorne and bid him a merry goodbye, she went home to give a few final goodbyes to her parents. Once the door was closed, Violet turned to Pyro, who stared right back. "You'd better get in your Poke Ball," she advised him, grabbing his Poke Ball from her belt and pressing the button to return him -- except it didn't work. Pyro dodged the red beam of light quite easily, giving Violet a little harumph.
"You don't like being in your Poke Ball?" Violet asked. Growlithe gave a small bark, sounding satisfied, and Violet shrugged, putting the Poke Ball away. "Alright... but you can't run off!" she said, starting to walk -- starting to begin her Pokemon journeyyy cheesy yay.

[[ I'm thinking the first town over... but we'd need to figure out a name and if it was going to be a gym leader town. Maybe like Meadowspring City or something... ]]
