Focusing her eyes on the bookshelf, Kelsey indifferently shrugged one shoulder. She realized that he didn't want her to ask anymore questions so she wouldn't. "I- I'm going to finish this up real quick. Not a whole lot left to finish on it." With her back straight against the wall she kept her eyes on her project while she painted away at it. There really wasn't that much left. A few crevices and a little expanse of the front and then she was done. Swiping her brush quickly across it in deep concentration, the tip of her tongue rest on her lower lip as she worked away at finishing it.

I scared her. Remorse, regret, self-hate. Good job, Saul. Now apologize.
I walked over to where she was sitting, but still remained a good few steps away. She probably didn't want me around anyway. I folded my arms awkwardly and chewed on my lip.
"Sorry," I said. "I didn't mean to sound rude. Like I said, I don't get much company."

With her head bent over her small work, she barely could see him out of the very top of her eyes. Hearing his footsteps towards her, she raised her head slightly in order to see him better. "You're fine, I was prying." Gently she set the bookshelf on the ground while drawing one leg up close to her chest. She leaned her forehead on her knee, her eyes staring off into space for a moment. Her shoulders were slouched, and her hands rested on the ground to either side of her. Red auburn hair spilled over her face, covering one eye and part of the other. For a moment she just sat there, thoughts clouding her head. Without realizing it both arms came up to hug her bent knee. Her eyes darted closed before popping open again. She sat up straight and tucked her legs underneath her so she could stand. With one hand on the wall she pulled herself into a standing position. "Right, you wanted to go back inside. Right?" Kelsey mused softly, not in the least bit distracted by the hair still covering her eyes.

"Oh...right." I nodded softly at the reminder. I had wanted to go inside. Now that Kelsey seemed ready, I felt a little better about it. I checked my watch. She might be hungry for lunch about now.
I held my hand out to her hopefully. There wasn't much use in it, really. I didn't expect her to accept my gesture for peace. I deserved the cold shoulder.
"If you're hungry, I could make you some food," I told her.

Kelsey's hand brushed her hair behind an ear, her green eyes glancing up to him. She hadn't been aware of being hungry until he mentioned it. "Actually, I'm not really that hungry." It was true, though she was a bit hungry, she wasn't really wanting to eat. When he offered a hand to her, she nervously flicked her gaze from between his hand and his eyes. Again her hand came up to brush the hair from her eyes. Not feeling like holding his-or anyones- hand at the moment, she softly reached out and curled his fingers towards his palm. For a moment when her hand was on hers she paused. She kind of liked having that feeling, that someone was close to you like that. Her hand finally pulled away from his and her eyes were cast to the ground. "I just- Sorry," Taking a deep breath of air she pushed her hands into her pockets and gently swayed back and forth.

I felt a little frightened when Kelsey's hand touched mine. Her skin almost tingled when it made contact with my own blue scales. I couldn't help but smile faintly, even when I realized that she was telling me that no, she was not going to hold my hand back to the house, whether or not it would keep her safe from the others.
"It's okay," I assured her when she spoke. "Trust me, I'm used to it."
I pulled open one of the double doors that led onto the porch and offered for her to step out first. When the cool air hit me, I sighed quietly. It smelled like rain. It felt like rain, too. The moisture felt nice, unlike usual.

When Saul offered her to be the first one out, she immiedately stepped out of the shop. The air felt good on the tensed up skin. She raised her head to face the sky, letting the wind pull at her hair as much as it wanted. After only moments though she turned to wait for him to step out also. "I just like to be alone sometimes, I'm sorry." Biting her lip she flicked her eyes to him. "Don't you just love this weather though?" A smile tugged at her lips as she twirled in circles, one foot tucked into the crook of her knee as she went around. She giggled softly, dropping both feet flat onto the ground in order to stop. Her world spun for a moment before becoming steady again. The smile was more genuine now, lighting up her eyes.

I watched Kelsey twirl around in circles as I pulled the door of the shop closed behind us. I sort of hung back while she walked across the porch back to the house. She looked happy. Maybe not extremely happy, but content with the whole situation. That made me feel better. I might have even smiled. The fact that she trusted me enough to talk to me was nice. I had been dying for company.
I followed her down the porch and swiftly stepped ahead so that I could hold the door open for her. I felt obliged to be as nice as possible. After all, it was my fault that she was there.

She clasped her hands together behind her neck, a smile toying with her features. Spinning on her toes she waltzed into the open door he'd opened for her and laughed as she entered the room. The weather was so nice out, it made her want to just run through fields of grass while it rained. Hopefully if it did rain then she would be able to go outside. Rain was the only time that she ever could stay outside for hours. It reminded her of so many memories. "The shop is pretty amazing," Kelsey told him, lowering her arms to her side. Letting the smile stay as she continued walking, going through his house before stopped at the stairs and plopping herself down on the second step. Her eyes were full of content and happiness.

I followed Kelsey with my eyes as she skipped around the house. She was so optimistic about this. It almost concerned me. Maybe she was only acting happy, and she was going to climb out a window or something when my back was turned?
I looked up when I heard her speak, then replied the sentence in my mind. "Oh. Thanks," I said with a little smile. "I spend a lot of time over there, so... I like to keep it looking nice."
