Katniss has a firey aditude, and is a true survivor. She would do anything for her little sister, Prim. She doesn't seem like much, but she can take on a lot more than you'd expect. She hardly ever cries, but she does get close to people, but not easily. She is often independent, and doesn't ask for help much. If she does recieve help, she repays that help, for she can't stand owing people. She has learned to be a natural survivor, due to her mother virtually leaving because of her father's death, and being so close to death.

When Katniss was only 11, her father died in a mine explosion, leaving them with little left. Her mother went paralyzed from shock, leaving Katniss caretaker of her little sister. She tried hard to take care of her and her sister in her mother's absense by trying to sell old baby clothes, but she began slowly giving up. She dug through the trash one day, and was chased out by the baker's wife. She then sat under the apple tree, defeated, when a young blonde boy in her class came and tossed her loaves of bread. That bread was just enough to get them by, and from then on Katniss began hunting. Her mother soon snapped out of it, but Katniss refused to recieve any help from her what so ever.

Prim has always been sweet, and an animal lover. She is different then most the people in District 12, having blue eyes and blonde hair, but that only makes her all the more unique. She had a cat named Buttercup, claiming the mottled tabby's pelt resembled the sweet flower, and a goat named lady, which provided them milk and cheese. Prim would never attempt to kill an animal, because her instinct is to heal, not kill.

Being one of the few winners among District 12, Haymitch is well known. But not just by being a winner, he is constantly drunk and always makes a laugh without even attempting it. When he's somewhat sober, he seems to be an okay guy, but he's not sober much, so nobody is really sure what his true personality is. Everybody just knows him for making a show whenever the tributes are to be chosen.

Being compared to the other Capitol people, Cinna actually appears normal. Having wanted to have District 12, he was lucky to recieve Katniss and Peeta to have first. He impressed Panem by not focusing on the coal miners, but the coal itself. He set them on fire, made glittering dresses, making them appear irrasistable each time.
