Great. So I'm either not getting Isabella or going to jail. I could always tell them my real age, the age I don't look. But they wouldn't believe I'm twenty three, even if I am. Maybe I should just go with there is no romance between us. It's a lie, but it could help. I'd have to explain it to, Isabella later though. She would understand, right? Shane thought to himself, looking at the lawyer as he inclined his head in a nod. "Yes, I understand. But's it's not against the rules if there's no romance, so there's no need for me to get a fine." he said calmly, no indication in his voice he was lying. Only, Isabella and himself would know he was.

Isabella frowned when he heard his response. So did that mean they couldn't go out together because someone might see them together. What the whole time when they were in public, she had to act like what? Like he was her father. She really didn't like that choice, but what other choice did they have.

The lawyer nodded, "Okay. I am done here." Next was their lawyer's turn. He stood up, and looked at the jury and then Isabella, "I call Isabella to the stand."

Shane stood up as Isabella was called, making his way back down to their desk, taking a seat. Glancing at the girl, his eyes spoke a simple message of; good luck. It wasn't all that easy up there, forcing yourself to stay calm and anwser the questions, even if you had to twist the truth around some.

Isabella looked at Shane worried, and walked up there. She sat down, looking at the lawyer. She didn't like this court at all. She hated Aaron for bring them here. To lie to the court, just so she can't go back to Aaron.

Their lawyer looked at her, "Isabella why don't you tell the court what Mr. James caused you. In fact why don't you just tell us all your story." She asked her. Knowing this would change a few things, but only if Isabella was willing to share her life story.

Shane listened to their lawyer speak, before he looked at Isabella. If she told the court about how Aaron abused her, it would no doubt change things. The court wouldn't just let a sixteen year old get abused would they? While if they let her come with him, he wouldn't hurt her, obviously.

Isabella wondered why the lawyer was doing this. She thought she was suppose to help her, not get everyone to pity her. She bit her lip, and then released it. "Um, okay..." She said softly. "I was jumping around from home to home. Until I came to Aaron and Catherine's- his dead wife's house. I have been living there for the past years. Around the first month, I moved in. Aaron started to-" She tried to think of the word, "Needed." She said softly. Tears formed in her eyes, "You know how most teenagers' first kiss is from maybe a truth or dare, spin the bottle, o from their first love?" She paused and looked at Aaron, "Well, mine was with him. So was my second and third, and more to come." She looked at the lawyer, "When I tried to fight back against it, he hit me. He started to use his strength against me when I rebelled." She wiped a tear away from her cheek. "About the third month into living into his house, he tried to push me even farther. If I didn't hit him in the chest, he probably would have pushed me to have sex with him-"

She was interrupted when Aaron jumped out of his seat, shouting. "That isn't true! She is making things up!" He shouted angrily. It was true though, but he was mad she was telling the court this. The judge told him to settle down, or she was having the guards calm him down. She looked at Isabella, telling her to go on.

"And when I hit him, he pushed me against the wall, and pushed me down the stairs. When I was born, I had a heart problem. I had a hole in my heart. They said if I didn't have a hole in my heart, I would have been adopted. Anyways, because of my previous heart problem. I had a stroke when I fell down the stairs." The tears still in her eyes. She hadn't told anyone this, even Shane. "When I got to the hospital, they found out because of the stroke I had. I got a learning disability. I couldn't learn they way I should have easily like the others. I had a problem with math, and science. So finally they let me drop out because Aaron wouldn't pay for a tutor to help me." She wiped another tear as she finished up telling them about her life with Aaron.

Shane's jaw almost dropped as Isabella told her story. It came this close to dropping. Sure, she had told him some things, but not everything, not like now. He turned his head as Aaron jumped up from his chair, yelling that it wasn't true. Oh, but it is true. You sick b****d. He thought, his shock replaced by anger, strong anger he always felt towards Aaron. Looking back at Isabella and their lawyer, hating seeing the girl with tears falling from her eyes. Listening to her talk about having a stroke and being pushed down the stairs, he didn't even the slightest clue about that, though now he did. As she finished and wiped away a tear, he looked to the judge. No way would she let Isabella stay with, Aaron after that.

The lawyer nodded, "Okay. Now do you and Shane have anything going on? How does Shane make you feel about yourself? Please explain." She told her. She glanced at Shane, then the audience.

Isabella listened to her questions. She looked at Shane. Not knowing what to say about that. she wanted to tell the truth about them. She didn't want to act like he was her father, or anything. She wanted them- to be them. She blinked back when the lawyer repeated the question. She was just going to have to try, she closed her eyes inhaling deeply and then softly exhaling. She looked at the lawyer and nodded, "Yes." She said softly. "But he makes me feel like I am wanted around here. Ever since I was born, I was tossed around. I never stayed in one place to long, and never got the love I should have gotten." She still had the tears in her eyes, "But with Shane, it's different. I feel like I am actually loved. I feel great around him. He has always protected from Aaron." She told the lawyer. "I'm not going to lie. The only reason Shane did is because he didn't want me to go back to Aaron. He didn't want me abused." She told the jury and the judge, or whoever was actually listening.

As their lawyer asked if anything was going on between them, and how he made Isabella feel -which he was starting to wonder himself-. As the girl looked at him, he knew she was going to have to tell them, or at least try. The young man nodded slowly once as she said he had lied so she wouldn't have to go back to Aaron. Which was true. He was quite surprised as she said how he made her feel. Did he really make her feel loved?

The lawyer looked at the judge. "I am done your honor." She told her. Both her and Isabella went back to the desk. She sat down next to Shane, she reach for his hand which was under the desk. She held it, intertwining their fingers. She hoped she wouldn't go back to Aaron.

Then Aaron went up. The told them fake stories about Isabella. Like she was abusive to him and his wife. She threatened them, and how she was troubled. He continued on about the troubled kid he was suppose to watch. He said Shane took her away from him for no reason. How he is pretending to love Isabella because he just want certain things from her.
