Reaping Day is here, Jaden stood with the other boys. *Just one more year...... just one more* Jaden thought to himself.

Reaping day. A sense of forboding settled over Sophie as she stood with the girls of her district. Effie Trinkit reached into the girls bowl and read the name. Tina Mellark. Her sister, barely seven, had been called. President Grace-President Snow's daughter-had lowered the age to include kids as young as six. She watched in shock as her sister was called, then lunged forward. It was just like with her mother and her Aunt Prim. Two Peacekeepers stepped forward and grabbed her. "WAIT!" She cried as Tina was dragged towards the stage. "I volunteer." She announced, eyes hard. Silence followed her words, then Effie beamed. "Just like her mother." She chuckled. "Keith, take Tina." She said, glancing towards her best friend, Kieth Hawthorne. The boy, three years older than herself, stepped forward and grabbed Tina who shrieked and struggled. Ignoring her, Sophie mounted the steps to stand at Effie's side.

Jaden looks over at Sophie. *Does that girl have a death wish or something?!* he thought. Effie reached into the boys bowl and read out the name. "Jaden Yuki..." Jadens heart stopped. He held his breath and went up to the stage.

Effie Trinket smiled as jaden stepped onto the stage and made some speech about the hunger games... and what an honor it would be to see Katniss Everdeen's daughter in action. Sophie grimaced at the reminder and glanced towards Jaden with a cold look. "I'm not so much like my mother that I'll protect you." She announced in a fierce whisper. "I'm going to win and if you get in my way, your dead." Turning on heel she followed two Peacekeepers who would lead her to the Town Hall where she'd say goodbye to family and friends.

Jaden smiled at Sophie, then winked at her. "Sophie, it's the same just like when your mother was in, two people can win the hunger games this year." Effie said. Jaden looked down at his feet, no one would care if he died any way.

Sophie snorted. "I work with no one." She said darkly. As they neared the Town Hall, Tina raced out and slammed into her, sobbing. Sophie's face softened as she murmured reassurances. "It's ok, Tina... I'll be back before you know it! Remember who our mom is, okay? It's in my blood."
