Your overgrown nails click against the sidewalk with each tentative step you take. The streets are eerily quiet and each wind sends shivers down your spine. As you pass by allies, your stomach growls. This only reminds you of how prominent your ribs are. Sighing, you turn into a quiet and seemingly empty dead-end alley. After you scour through the dumpsters, only to find a moldy crust of bread, you squeeze into the small space between the cold metal and the brick wall. You wrap your tail around yourself as means to keep warm, but it doesn't help. As the sky becomes dark and bleak, you come to realize that this is it. This is the life of a

Stray.

Personality: Cricket is highly intelligent and very independent. She’s not the sweetest dog around, but she is willing to stand up for others if she sees a purpose in it. Cricket is exceptionally bold and doesn’t care who she offends. At times she can be a bit headstrong and often jumps to conclusions. This makes her unpredictable. She is somewhat social around other dogs, but tends to keep to herself.
History: Cricket was born in a small-town to a loving family. While she was a puppy, her family moved to the big city, taking her with them. When she hit one year, the family became bored with her. She was no longer the cute little pup that bounced around excitedly. Cricket was now an adult who played too rough with the humans’ little ones. One day the man of the family took her into his car, along with her favorite toy: a worn-down tennis ball. They drove to the train tracks and he slowly opened her door. She smiled, then started to bark loudly. He opened her door, and then threw the ball down the hill. Cricket raced after it, but suddenly lost it as it rolled into the tall grasses. After a few minutes of searching, she found it. She picked it up and made her way up the hill only to find the truck and her master gone. From then on, she swore to never trust a human again.

Cricket padded down the street, her overgrown claws clicking against the cold pavement. Winter was on it's way, therefore the air was frigid. Her breath came out in small puffs in front of her dark, almond shaped eyes. Her tail curled slightly over her back as she swayed down the dark alley.

KJ was digging through the silver bins that held rotting apple cores. He knocked down another one, the lid crashing down with a loud metallic crack. He slunk forward, his stomach growling. KJ found a half eaten chicken breast and wolfed it down quickly, licking his chops clean afterwards. His pale amber eyes danced around to look for any signs of danger.
