"It was dark and I was over, until you kissed my lips and you saved me."
Asha looked through the dark trees as an impossible whinny sounded. Something so familiar, yet so foreign. Like someone had taken something she had known down to the core, then remolded it into something new. It was the same material, but in a completely different shape and style. Still she leaned towards the sound, but managed to keep her feet in the same place. Instead of going to whoever was calling, she sent a reply whinny into the dark and all of her loneliness somehow escaped into that one call. The mare was too caught up in it all to even begin to guess that it was actually Gold, back from the grave, for she was sure he had died.

"Feels so good being bad, there's no way I'm turning back."
Dark scowled, having decided a few minutes ago she was going to give him a hard time.
"Oh, shut up. If I went over there and asked those mares how long they've been with you, would either of them say 'since last spring'? I'd bet so," she snorted, lashing her tail a few times just to prove to herself that she was worked up.
"What now then? Because did you honestly expect me to stay around? Well if you were, crush that hope right now, because as soon as this foal is on the ground I'm gone." She drew back, looking keenly into his face to make sure he knew that what she had just said was true, even if she wasn't truly angry.
"Especially now. I gave you advice, told you how this was going to be," she paused, once again giving him a puzzled, exasperated look.
Looking at him now, she realized that she actually was cross. But not necessarily at him. She let out some noise between a snort and a sigh, relaxing her high and mighty position. She didn't want to be forced into another band, but who was there to force her? Her father, the only horse who could ever wield such power over her, was dead. A stallion could only ever do so much to keep her within his band, and while there wasn't always a way to a free life, there was always a way to freedom. However, she just couldn't do
this. She wouldn't become the third mare. Actually she wouldn't even be the first mare, if there were others. Two horse herds, she'd heard of them, but always thought second best stallions ran them. The ones who were not able to hold onto more than one mare. But maybe there was a different reason for those bands. Singular love, the love between just one stallion and one mare. Oh, but no kind of love was for Dark. While the one-on-one relationship was a bit more appealing than herd life, none of those fairy tales had her in it. For her name was not Light, it was Dark. She had to wander, causing trouble as she went because she was the villainess of the stories she created. But there, of course, was a problem. Age was her immortal enemy, time had even caught up to Ebony. And trouble-causing didn't increase her longevity.
She snapped out of her thought, shaking her head. After a moment, she let her blue eyes meet Relic's, but her gaze was doubtful.
"Alright, Relic, I changed my mind. I will stay with you and we will raise our foal together. However, as in any deal, both parties have to benefit. Don't worry, I'm not asking for much. Just the fact that I will come and go as I please and when I chose to come, I'll take up my position as lead mare. As for any more foals between you and me, maybe." With that out of her system and her turbulent mind calming, the black few spot stood before Relic with her head raising itself high.

Bandy nodded, but decided not to try out the new name on her tongue until she needed to use it. Things like her granddam's name were held in high regard by the filly, she wasn't just going to go around abusing her knowledge. That trait of hers had to do with how both Dark and Shetan collected information, as much as they could from anyone they could. However, each horse used the trait differently, and she treated information like treasure. However, she didn't want to know about everything, just the things that concerned her, as those pieces of information were the most relevant and therefore the most valuable.

"No, there ain't no rest for the wicked, until we close our eyes for good."
Advocate gave an equine shrug, learned from Vela.
"Ah well, no problem. Spring's nearly here anyway." He said, looking distastefully at the snow. Eventually even those who loved winter would get sick of it, he supposed, with winter's biting chill and heaps of snow and irritation and hardship. With a huff, he turned to brighter thoughts and nuzzled his mare's side. A foal of his would come into the world next year, he couldn't be in the way of Shetan any more.

"This is it boys, this is war. What are we waiting for?"
One of Shetan's hind hooves lifted up then stomped down into the ground; he was letting his son know that he knew Rift was back behind him. So many things were going on at once, his filly was talking then this new mare was... He was tempted to snap. However, he couldn't afford to with spring so close and a new mare right here before him. Unless she herself was not very good, she would get scared off by his brutal nature. He quickly addressed his daughter first.
"Ah, just some stallion stuff. I'll tell you later if you still want to know then." As soon as he finished that sentence, he promptly ignored Flare.
The mare was speaking, but also turning away. Her tail snapped up near his face, but he pulled his head high to avoid the strands. But almost immediately after his initial reaction, his head ducked down and out. His stained teeth snatched a good portion of her tail, to prevent her from swishing it at him again. He then moved forwards a few steps and gave a tug on her tail.
"Going so soon? But we've not even properly met." He was feeling comfortable with his band around him and that made him bold. The appaloosa stallion slung his head over her rump then walked up closer to her head, gently dragging his head along her back.
"I'm Shetan. I suppose a 'thank you' would normally be due, but I don't say that to anyone." He glanced back to the herd as he lifted his head off her back, but continued talking.
"Oh, but Ginger, isn't it sad? You haven't a stallion to run back to. After all, what normal, silly stallion would let his mare go wandering, especially near a battle?" He bumped her cheek with his muzzle, then swung his head around to look at his son. He was smiling for the mare, but his smile was too sickly sweet as he aimed it at Rift.
"Spring would be so lonely, wouldn't you think?" He said, still looking at his son and only returning his gaze to Ginger after he had finished speaking.
