{Gosh darn it... Tiger, can we just say Oaka and Vegas are both in foal? I'm starting to feel like this is a never ending cycle of births...}
Marvel tensed as Adara started to go in to a skittish fit, opening his mouth to reassure her, but before he could say anything, Haven quickly stepped in with a solid promise of protection. He shot her a grateful glance, glad to have the level-headed mare by his side. He slowed and sidled up to Adara, nuzzling her shoulder comfortingly. Turning to Isis, his eyes softened a bit more. "Nothing to be worried about." He nickered, nuzzling her. "Just another stallion. But don't worry, Brumby and I will keep you safe." Suddenly, the young stallion froze. Both Isis and Adara had a heat scent. Drawing away, he spotted Vela ahead of them. Having an excuse to get away from the slightly overwhelming scents, he broke into a canter, then let out a friendly whinny. Suddenly, a small foal came trotting towards him, stopping a few feet away. He slowed as he came closer, then halted in front of her. Eyeing her proud bearing with an amused expression, he glanced towards Vela. "I'm assuming she's yours?" He nickered to the chestnut mare.
Vegas smiled, turning towards the woods where her father and Oaka were. Her slightly over-large ears pricked towards them, and her small nostrils flared wide. Hearing her mother call out, she whipped around, almost too fast to keep her small hooves planted. Spreading her front legs at the last moment, the filly managed to keep herself upright, then trotted forward. In the distance she spotted a tall, buckskin stallion, coming up on her and Vela fast. Se trotted out to meet him, letting her hooves flare and swishing her short tail. She stopped a few yards from him, and he halted in front of her, his eyes full of amusement. Drawing herself up, she gave him a haughty, aggitated look as he called out to her mother.
Brumby smiled, amused by the name. "Hmm, Devil's Advocate. How'd you come up with that one?" His son's nostrils flared as he took in his scent, and the red-gold stallion picked up his head, rising to his full height. "Hello, Advocate." He nickered, eyes flashing with pride of his son. "I'm you're father, Brumby." He ambled over to Oaka, hesitating a moment before laying his head across her back. "He's one to be proud of." He told her quietly, then, raising his voice slightly, "So, shall we introduce him to the herd?"
After a very long break,
I have decided to dip my toes in the water here again.
