Raven slowly rose to his feet, sniffing the air. It was still around midday and he was bored. Bored. He slowly crept through the city, the dead, autumn leaves rolling around in the breeze like usual. It was near the start of autumn, and nothing was green, just brown and gold. He lifted his head, looking at the white clouds roll past in the hot breeze. Raven sniffed the air, pointing his nose to the sky. He could smell rotten food and murky water. He could tell no one had been in the lower part of the city in ages, besides thieves and ruffians that wanted to look for things to steal, just for fun. Raven sniffed the air once more, smelling other dogs. Probably the bad dogs, he thought to himself. He flicked his ears, hearing barks saying no and you shall die. He turned around quickly, hearing the growls and grunts of the black bulldogs. Raven thought to himself, I`m the legendary leader of the Slynx. Why am I scared of some Bulldogs? He shrugged the thought away and ran, trying to get away from the bulldogs, just so he was safe.

After his 'almost' run in with the bulldogs, Raven decided to stay away from the Lower City. He trotted along the pathways of the city, looking around for food. Once he found a hotdog, diving to grab it before anyone else got it. Raven licked his dried lips, longing for some water. He could just drink from a puddle but he knew better to not drink puddle water. Animals might have peed in it or it could be chemicals. Raven looked around, his large green eyes scanned the area. His limp slowed him down, but that wouldn`t stop the determined dog.

Bracken eventually managed to outrun the humans who were chasing him. Panting with exhaustion, he padded towards the area of Middle City [Hope you don't mind it Calestia], where his hideout was, and resolved not to go into the Upper City for the next few days. I guess I've got to hunt these few days. It'll be hard though. Bracken thought, limping to where he had placed some of his stuffed toys from the time when he had lived with people and lay down, licking tenderly at his paw.

"Cursed humans. What dd I ever do to them?" Bracken muttered darkly, even though he knew the answer. It's was because he looked so much like a wolf, and people thought that he would harm them. And also because he stole food from them. But that's survival. If I don't do it, I'll die. But most likely those humans wish I would, given the way they were after me just now. Bracken sighed and laid his head on his paws, closing his eyes. I need to get some rest after all that. The Slynx can't oppose that. Bracken then proceeded with falling asleep, knowing he was safe in the dark alleyway of his hideout.

[Sorry, I got a little writer's block there. I'll post more next time.]

The sounds of the city reached into the dreams of the large wolf-like dog as she lounged on the old, ratty couch she'd claimed in this old abandoned apartment, making her growl low in her throat. Turning her back to the broken window, the Tamaskan placed her large paws over her ears, trying to block out the sounds of life coming from the street. Desperately she tried to cling to the last fingers of sleep, but the city proved to be too loud. Grunting in defeat, Larka let her paws fall to the floor and she lifted her head from the cushions to glare in the direction of the window. Humans could be so tedious to deal with sometimes. Shaking her head, the gray canine slid off of the couch and bowed down into a stretch, feeling various muscles and joints pop. Bowing down so far that her chest brushed the cool floor got her shoulders to pop, drawing a groan from her. Finally she got to her paws and wandered over to the window, watching the activity on the street. Humans seemed to be everywhere, in the cars rushing down the street, lining the sidewalks, and in the buildings not unlike this one. Seeing them gave her a mental lip curl, but that was nothing compared to how she felt when she was people walking their dogs.

Shaking her head, she moved away from the window. Her stomach let out a loud growl, demanding her attention while also giving her something to do. Finding food was always one of the top priorities for a stray dog. She quickly made her way down the stairs and out of the apartment building she'd claimed as her own, her large ears tilted forward and her eyes bright. Most of the humans payed no attention to her, too wrapped up in their daily lives to notice the canine standing there. Those that did notice gave her a wide berth as she made her way down the street, trying to avoid inhaling too much. The acrid, burning car exhaust was almost too much for her sensitive sense of smell as she finally lowered her muzzle to the ground and inhaled deeply. However, very subtle under the scent of human and cars, she caught a scent that made her mouth water. Meat. Following the scent, Larka broke into a smooth trot. She knew that food wouldn't last last out here, and the fact that she was so fond of sleeping didn't help her in her hunt.

Finally, after a few minutes of tracking, Larka found the source of the meat. She'd followed the scent trail to the back of a large restaurant, where she found multiple dumpsters overflowing with half-eaten burgers. Letting her mind wonder over the wasteful natures of humans for a second, she turned her head to the lone door on the back of the building, listening hard to see if anyone was coming. After a few seconds had passed she decided that it was safe and she made a beeline for the nearest dumpster, her stomach rumbling loudly. It took a few minutes, but Larka finally managed to scramble up into the metal container and began searching for food. Just as her jaws clamped shut over a largely untouched burger, she heard the sounds of another dog from the ground outside of the dumpster. Larka froze, lifting her lips to reveal her teeth to her unseen challenger before she quickly snapped down her burger. Once the last of the meat and bread was gone, she leaped out of the dumpster, her teeth bared and a deep snarl tearing from her throat.

That growl quickly faded as she saw that the other 'dog' was nothing more than a small cat. Snorting, she sat down and glared at the smaller animal, feeling her anger swiftly change to annoyance. Lifting her lips in a rude sneer, she fixed cold brown eyes on the cat, feeling the familiar darkness unfurling in her mind. A cat would be better than a cold day old burger, especially one that had just been killed. Licking her teeth, Larka got to her paws and took a step towards the feline, who let out a loud hiss. Instead of frightening the predator as the cat had intended, the sound only amused Larka in a dark, sinister way. Hisses and claws would do no good against the hungry dog, and it seemed the cat knew it. After giving another loud hiss, the small animal turned and ran in fear. Larka let out a loud snarl and lunged after it, her paws skittering on the concrete. It took a few seconds, but eventually she caught some traction on the ground and was soon barreling after the fleeing cat.

((Hope this is ok!))
