The tang of blood lingered in the air, sending a chill through the dark sky. Through the shadows, a black wolf towers over the carcass of another, scarlet staining his jaws and a malicious, bloodthirsty grin plastered on his face. The screams of the innocent victim had long since faded into oblivion, leaving only silence. Even the wind ceased to grieve for the poor soul. Xavu's lip curled as he kicked the limp body of his former alpha. "You were weak." he growled. "You never even saw it coming, but you deserved to die." he whispered mockingly, his voice laced with a venomous malice. Raising his eyes to the rocky gorge that's sheer cliff loomed ahead, he dragged the body to the edge of the precipice and without a second thought, pushed it over the cliff, watching it limply drop into the misty depths of the waterfall. A strange smirk overcame him as he turned his back to the gorge and lifted his head, a long, gruesome howl radiating into the sky and piercing the silence of the once peaceful night. Pushing himself forward into a lope, his paws thrumming rythmically on the ground, his heart racing, he burst into the quiet camp and forced his hackles to rise, calling out a mournful cry. "Kantuk is dead!" he wailed, his blue eyes wide with fake sympathy. As his pack-mates rushed from their dens, he demanded their attention, spinning a gruesome web of lies that would soon aid his rise into power. He convinced them that their alpha had been slaughtered by rogues, and that he had tried in vain to save him, but alas- he was outnumbered, and barely escaped with his life. Xavu became alpha that day, and ever since, he's poisoned his pack with lies and bloodshed, and has proved to be a cruel and pernicious ruler. Little did he know that the lies he'd told that night would spiral into his own demise, and that only chaos would ensue for the rest of his days. Good almost always wins out in the end, but with such a terrible brute crushing every ounce of hope that dares to cross his path, how could justice ever prevail?

Lies lead only to more, and betrayal never fades...
