From the Ashes
Ash exhaled deeply, watching as her warm breath jetting out in a small cloud, lingering for a moment, then vanishing into thin air. She shook out her thick fur, followed by her angling her muzzle into the air to scent the breeze, her ears turning like little radars on her head to pick up any nearby sounds. Just the breeze. Detecting nothing, she trotted into the trees from the clearing she had spent the night in. The snow crunched under her paws. Her lean shape weaved around the foliage, her tail getting caught in brambles once or twice but she just swished it free like nothing was on it. She was well aware that she had set foot upon claimed territory, but it seemed as if the wolves in this area either hadn't found her yet or just didn't care, probably the first. She wasn't close to camp anyway, though she was headed towards the valley, needing to get out of the shade and into the sun. Not that she was particularly cold, but it had been a while since she had properly felt the sun on her back, always dwelling in the trees. She paused to lower her head, licking up some snow and letting it melt in her mouth to quench her thirst, then the ashy gray female continued on her way. She hoped that she didn't run into any pack wolves, she had no idea if they'd turn out to be aggressive or not. She might be able to outrun them, she was an exceptionally fast and agile, though relatively weak. She relied on her wit and speed, not strength, even though her fragile build was made purely of muscle.
