After a few silent moments, Winter regained her happy mood. She had learned long ago not to live in the past, but look forward to the future. She could see that something was troubling Akuma, but didn't think he'd be as open with Fubuki around. She glanced at Fubuki for a moment, seeing that he was filling his leaf with his last mouthful of bedding. She had filled hers, and Akuma looked as if he was ready to go as well. " Well, I guess we should start going home now. " She commented, her voice filled once more with the happiness she was well known for. Fubuki wagged his tail, his blue eyes blazing with excitement. " I can't wait to meet everyone! " He barked happily, his care-free attitude showing once more. Winter thought about how truely similar they were. They looked almost like siblings, now that they had matured. But, even as pups, the pack wolves were always mistaking them for brother and sister. She smiled at Akuma, hoping to cheer him up. What she really wanted to do was to be alone with him, just for a few moments, and ask him what was wrong. Maybe even a reassuring lick or two... But she didn't know what his reaction would be, and didn't want to make him feel awkward... ' Uh! Such troubling thoughts! Why can't I keep my mind from wandering...? Why can't I keep my heart from thudding everytime I look at him? ' Her ice-blue eyes opened just a bit wider. ' Am, am I in love!? With Akuma? Or...? ' She looked at Fubuki's happy, smiling face. Saw the love he held for her in his eyes, but... Where were the excited feelings? Where was the thudding heart? She didn't feel the same way about him as she felt about Akuma. Before, she was sure it had to Fubuki these feelings were directed towards. After the dream about him, she was positive. But now that she thought about it, those feelings were there all along. When she met the black loner in the woods that cold, cold day. When she had answered his howls. When she left to get bedding for her mother with him. And even now that she had found Fubuki, the feelings still remained for Akuma. She whimpered quietly, shocked by her realization. ' Why had I been so dull? I should've known from the first day... ' She thought silently to herself. She turned away from Akuma, blushing with embarassment. And anger at herself.
