Jasper nods as he answers, looking down at Jubal, his tail swaying slightly as the flies continues to land on him. He snorts gently,
"That's quite a big band."
He comments, tossing his head and the flies begins to aim for his face now. Stupid things. Jasper bends down and rubs his head on his slender legs, successfully removing the pesky biting insects. Melody raises her head, and faces the two stallions, stepping close to them, ears swivelling back and forth. She remembers her's and Jubal's conversation, or argument, about the snakes, and she turns to Jasper, looking at him accusingly,
"We can take down a snake any day, can't we, Jasper? They're only long, flat predators."
She smirks slightly, still convinced it won't be hard to squash one. Jasper steps back, snorting slightly,
"I don't... think so..."
He says uncertainly, remembering hearing her and Jubal argue about it yesterday. Don't start on me now. Jasper thinks, as he catches Melody's glare. She snorts,
"You stallion's are just paranoid scaredy cats, you are not going to find me quivering in fear because of some stupid reptile."
Melody says angrily, before lowering her head to snatch at some grass, chewing hard, swishing her tail more violently than necessary.

Millie hears Trouble and the rest of the mares move off, and she begins to slowly follows, but stops after a while, muscles tense. She lowers her head and nibbles at some grass, guessing she'll catch up with them later. Millie is still grazing quietly, when she hears hoof-beats come towards her. Millie raises her champagne, dished face and sees Trouble in front of her. She watches him carefully, ears pricking slightly. She lowers her head slightly as he speaks, feeling quite ashamed. But what should she say? Millie shakes her mane, and begins to walk forward, feeling slightly awkward,
"It's nothing..."
Millie replies, her eyes fixing on the water hole in the distance. She plans on simply walking past him, so he can't ask anymore questions, when a strange scent fills her nostrils.
Millie feels herself stiffen, and she stops in her tracks, head raising high, blowing out loudly, so she can try to identify the scent. From the small clamp of trees in front of her, is a predator, a mountain lion, moving slowly from the trees, it's yellow eyes fixed intently on both Millie and Trouble. At first Millie is puzzled, as mountain lions usually don't attack full grown horses, but maybe this one is extra hungry today.
Millie flattens her ears and rears up, her hooves pawing the ground, her whole body tensed. She wants to run, and keep on running, but she can't leave Trouble, and what about the other mares? What if they run and the predator catches the scent of the other mares and goes after them? Millie paws the ground hard, kicking up sand, making a cloud, her attention only on the mountain lion as it crawls closer, waiting for a perfect moment to launch it's attack.
