Marijn shook his head sadly. He didn't want to tell them that his sister was too weak to be able to walk this far. What if they thought that it would be better to put her out of her misery? Marijn backed away fearfully "I'm sorry, but I have to go." he said and quickly picked up the rabbit and moss then ran off.

"Life goes on. At least that's what Alastair told me," she said. She shrugged her little shoulders and her tail wagged quietly.

Lucrezia carefully trotted over the hill and stood just beyond the other dogs. She sat down carefully, watching the other dogs with interest.

"Who's Alastair anyway?" Bentley asked.

[Lisette]

"Alastair was my father," she replied. "I feel guilty for leaving him back there. The other animals may eat him." She frowned and looked at the sand quietly.

"Let's look for him!" Bentley said eagerly. He could imagine the wind in his fur. "I love adventures!"

As Bentley awaited her response, the sun burned into his back. "Let's hurry, it's hot out here!" He barked absent- mindedly.

"Let's go!" she yipped excitedly, jumping lithely to her paws. She trotted forward into the sand, looking her over her shoulder to Bentley.

Bentley let one ear droop over to the side of his head. He awkwardly raced to his new friend.
