Enui was able to wrench her paw away from the Alpha's grasp as another wolf came to her aid. Of all the wolves she expected to see, a young hunter - Coal, was it? - was not one of them. She heaved herself to her paws, holding up her injured one and looked coolly at Shadow from her spot behind Coal. She was not proud of herself, taking the minor protection he offered, but there were red splatters on the ground of where her foot bled into the dirt below.

Was she really about to witness the soft-hearted Shadow concede defeat to a pup? Or was she going to see the murder of one of her own, right in front of her eyes?

((@Icy - Remember to clarify which wolf you're attacking and not to powerplay your interaction with them. There's plenty of fights happening currently that Rain or Fish could hop into. ^^))

Blizzard stared down at Mick. "And what if YOU die? Face it, Mick. Between the two of us, on a battlefield, I’m the more likely to come out of a real fight alive. If you really want to be of help, help me back to camp when we have to go home, eh? Max took a chunk out of my leg, so that'll be a pain to walk with." He turned his gaze to scan the clearing…only to see Mayuri fall under Max's grip. His eyes widened. "Sky dogs…I-I think Max just…just KILLED her!"

Fish lowered herself, ready to pounce or dodge at a moment's notice, deep blue eyes never leaving her opponent. He did not radiate the confidence of a Warrior. Like he was stalling for time or something. A tactic she understood, but for one could never get behind. Any real fighter wasn’t afraid.

The brown wolf yelped as they were grabbed by the throat and thrown down...The blow was fatal, and their eyes slowly turned glassy.

The pretty chocolate one, with a white muzzle and chest patch, yelped. They growled and snapped at Rain now...

The happy and lucky but hard headed and sometimes loud one growled. The black nosed dark gray one fell, by accident. However, it got them away from his jaws. It also left them vulnerable as they now had to get back up.

The beautiful amber eyed gray wolf growled, snapping at Lucas. She then swiped at Leo, trying to hit the young (non trainee) wolf. She whipped her tail in annoyance. She then tried to duck away from the two of them.

Rain dodged and snapped forward, tearing a chunk of fur from the trainee before darting out of range. She eyed her opponent warily and tensed up again, waiting for an attack. Her small size gave her an advantage as she was much faster.

Normally Blizzard would’ve rolled his eyes and defended the idea that he was fat, but it was true he was large and bulky, but…most of that was muscle, not fat! Thoughts of that were far from his mind though with the scene playing out in front of them. He was a Warrior. He had seen death before, but this, this wasn’t just a couple deaths, this was getting out of hand. "Are you SERIOUSLY going to charge in there again and risk taking in a wolf thrice your size?!?"

Mimicry. Did he not know how to proceed, or was he stalling? Enough of this. Fish wasn’t going to sit around and let him come up with something else. She made the first move, darting forward to snap her jaws at his shoulder, not a wound that would be fatal if it hit, but enough it could do some considerable damage.

Max let go of the wolf in his jaws once he felt the steady heartbeat from their neck stop altogether. Dead. While another wolf might have wished them to rest in peace or for the sky-dogs to be with them, Max only silently turned away. His gaze landed on Enui and Coal, who had gone for Shadow. Enui was down, and she looked to have been wounded. Not as much as Shadow, perhaps, both her ears were still intact, but even so, it sent a hot flash of rage through him, and he picked up his pace, marching towards them.

When Ami went to the ground, Grant took advantage of the opportunity. Instead of going for a bite this time though, as that’d leave his back open, he twisted away from Canary and brought claws down with intention of attacking the Trainee who lay on the grassy ground underneath them. He’d never turn down the chance for an easy attack, even if it wasn’t always the honourable thing to do. What was honour worth in a battle?

Leo snarled, digging his claws into the soft ground for stability and snapping at Arla again. He had no idea what exactly the plan was from here on out, but they could just play it by ear until Shadow inevitably called a retreat. We can fight for a while yet, but we can’t keep this up forever. He was starting to tire. And trying not to let it show. Not in the middle of a skirmish.

Lucas looked from Leo to Arla and then turned his gaze to where Shadow stood - now looking down at two wolves.
"Leo, finish this - I'll be back as soon as I can." He said and with a final nip to the she-wolf, he bolted towards his Alpha. He could see the enemy Alpha, Max, approaching at a fast stride and scurried over to Shadow, shoving his muzzle towards - oh sky-dogs - where her ear used to be.

"Their healer is dead and their herbs are gone. We have won. Please, my Alpha, our reinforcements are not yet here and our numbers dwindle. We should retreat while we still have wolves left on our side." He felt warmth spread over him with shame, suggesting a retreat, but... He glanced around, his fur bristling and he growled threateningly to the Beta and the small pup that protected her. Looking around he could see wolves fighting and sustaining injuries. Rowan may have died, but they still had Terra and Kotori back in the camp, safe and sound. They could be patched up. His gaze drifted over to Mayuri and he let out a whine. Some of them could be patched up, but not everyone, it seemed. He backed up towards his Alpha, growling protectively at anyone who looked at them funny. He would defend her with everything... but it was really Leo he was the most worried about.

A retreat was the LAST thing Shadow wished for, but Mayuri was dead, several others were injured, her two pups were out in the fray and could easily get killed, and it looked like the fighters of the Fire Pack were still going strong, even if they were injured. Reluctantly, the white furred she-wolf dipped her head. "You’re right," she agreed, backing away from Enui. Besides, a retreat gave her an excuse to not have to harm Coal. "Lightning wolves! Enough damage has been done, we call it a draw and retreat!" She howled.

Leo yelped as the blow connected while he was distracted by Lucas running off. The blow sent him reeling though, drawing a thin line of blood on the side of his muzzle. Hopefully once his adrenaline wore off, it wouldn’t hurt TOO bad, but he reckoned if he didn’t see Terra about it, either Lucas or Shadow would MAKE him. He glared at Arla, chest heaving with exhaustion and laboured breath. He was relieved when Shadow called though. He backed away. "Guess we'll have to finish this at a later date." He hesitated for a moment, looking up at Arla. Having gotten in close, he hadn’t missed the scent. With wolves giving birth generally between two and three months, he wasn’t surprised she was showing a bit. "I caught the start of the milk scent. Good luck with your pups." Then he turned and darted back towards Shadow and Lucas.

Blizzard would’ve gone, tried to get help, but Mayuri was unmistakably dead. They’d only get themselves killed. Besides, Max didn’t appear to be injured in the slightest beyond the couple scratches he’d gotten from Blizzard, but they were so minor they hardly even counted. Before he could say anything else though, Shadow was calling to them. "It seems the Alpha has assessed the situation and called us away anyway." And with the condition we're all in, that’s probably for the better. He had to grudgingly admit.

"When my Alpha ordered me to fight," was the answer, Fish's tone even, neither friendly, nor overly hostile. "This wasn’t what we wanted. If your Pack hadn’t killed one of our Healer Trainees, we wouldn’t even be here right now. It’s a retaliation." Then Shadow was calling. Fish dipped her head to the unknown wolf in front of her. "You’re agile, good for survival in a fight. I’ll give you that." She took a deep breath, then turned and bounded away to rejoin her Alpha.

Hackles raised, she dodged away and prepared to dodge for any attack that would come.

Lucas let out a wheezy breath of relief when Shadow agreed with him. He turned his gaze back towards Leo, seeing with dismay that he'd gotten hurt in his absence and his fur began to bristle again. He took a few steps towards the she-wolf, but stopped. The fight was over, Shadow had called for a retreat. Settling for a snarl, he called out to the she-wolf.

"You'd better hope I never see you again, she-mutt!" He ground out. "Because the last look you take in my, or my pack's direction, will be your last." He threatened, before he turned to Leo, his gaze softening. "You okay? Let's get you home and looked after." He said. "We're not out of the woods yet, though. We still have to make it through the river again. You think you're up to it?" He questioned as he started towards the way they'd burst into the camp.
