She felt the awkwardness in Echo's speech and she thought, does Echo think I'm weird. Course he does, everyone does. She said, "Everything ok?" She said it without portraying her emotions.

She whispered to Miles, "I'm going to the river to get a drink. Stay here." He nodded and she ran off. Hopefully nothing bad would happen to her. When she reached the river, she got a drink and saw a wolf from the other pack near the river. Her nose twitched as she smelled the pine cones. She called out with a little bit of fear behind her voice. "Um... Hi."

(It's not Aala, Karter, or Strom because I don't want to get involved)

She nodded and said, "It has been crazy lately. I have to ask you, do you think I'm weird? Most people do and it makes me feel like a loner here."

He nodded and said, "I'm sure of she was still alive, she would grow close with you as a best friend and probably protect you from anything like she did with me here. She had a pure soul. Nothing holding her back. I wish I was like her with nothing holding me back, not as sensitive, and brave like her."

"Storm," Karter started, but his voice shook. "If Aala wanted to keep them from me, there woulda been nothing I could do. I know that whatever she chooses, Alpha will support her. It doesn’t sound like she’s planning to bar them from me entirely." Though it had more than ruffled his feathers the way Aala had spoken so quickly of another mate. Had she been like him, in love with someone else during their relationship? If so, then it would likely make it easier on both of them, but just for a moment, red hot anger flashed through him. He’d always been protective of Aala, but he couldn’t afford to be now. I said I wanted her to be happy, and I meant it.

"No, Aala. I wasn’t able to bring June back this time, but I TOLD you that, and yeah, Storm met her and talked to her. I can ask her if she wants to come home. She’s three months old now, she'll be old enough to choose for herself. She goes by Faith now, apparently, and...just like you, I hope she'll choose to come back, and if not, well then at least we know she knows who we are. And... I know the Pups might have questions. Thank you for not...for not taking them from me. I swore to the sky-dogs I would not let them grow up not knowing BOTH their parents."

Leo dipped his head. "Well c'mon then! Let’s go see if there’s some good prey!" His heart, heavy only a few moments ago with the realization that since she’d given birth, he hadn’t spoken much with Riley, and his worry about their friendship deteriorating, at the chance to just share a meal and talk, his heart soared. Things change around here. That’s just how life works, it’s a fact, but that doesn’t mean EVERY aspect has to change. There is still hope, there can still be familiarity, and ways to hold on to the good things in life.

Emit continued to follow Kellin in silence. It felt like the creek was an awful longer way from camp than he could remember, but then, it had been a while since he had been there to begin with. He let his mind wander as they headed out of camp and down the sloping hill that would take them past the grove of elm trees and to the creek. Hopefully things can just calm down soon and everyone can breathe, everyone can walk freely, without fear, and everyone can just...settle down. Yeah...being able to take walks like these, but just for the heck of it, and not raise suspicion or worry from Packmates...that would be fine to have again. We used to.

"Really wish I knew who took their youngest, June, so I could help find her. I heard that Karter tried to find her a couple days ago with no luck. I dunno if it’s true, I was at the Meet at the time, but I wouldn’t be surprised. That wolf has done crazy things, the lunatic!" Smoke declared. One of the reasons she respected Karter. He wasn’t afraid to do what needed to be done, or if he WAS afraid, he stifled his fear in the end and did it anyway. She wished she had that kind of courage, but she just...didn’t. She’d rather have things easy.

Toby wasn’t quite sure what to say after that, or really, IF he should say anything, so for the time being, he remained silent. He was more than happy just to be there with Nightfall and Rosa, and to know at the very least that while she had been hurt earlier, perhaps Nightfall was not ANGRY. Oh he hoped, for he had CERTAINLY meant her no harm in his words, so much as to not start anything on a lie.

"Like I would let Ginger drown him. NO harm should ever come to Pups. It isn’t fair, they can’t defend themselves at such a young age. I lost my litter-sisters, saw it happen when we were...about three months old, maybe four. I had to grow up real fast, and I said I’d never see a Pup die. I had to at least TRY," Leo added as they started towards the steadily-growing prey pile. The Hunters had been busy, clearly.
