The gray eyed, gray faced black wolf hummed a bit. S/he flicked the gray tipped tail. They then looked between the other three, one their lovely sister. Ah, to have a mate....they thought then shook their head some. They whipped their tail a couple times. “Andro lets go sleep,” they finally said to their sister.

Storm turned her head to Karter when he thanked her and smiled.
"Hey, don't sweat it. I'm here cause I want to be-I don't think I could ever hate you, Karter." She assured him, but perked her ears. Something was coming. Was it one of those bears... or a mountain lion? She uttered a warning growl and moved to stand near Karter, pinning her ears. Thank goodness they were both fighters.

Only... the creature that came at them wasn't a bear or a mountain lion. It was Betrum, a Lightning Pack warrior. But... how could he be here? She opened her mouth to reply, only for Karter to cut in and she looked between the two of them, listening and waiting for her time to intervene. The longer Betrum spoke, the more heated she felt. Until a snarl ripped through her.

"You're a pile of dung, you know that!" She snapped at Betrum. "You and every pack wolf we were trying to get away from! Sky-dogs forbid we want some time to be FRIENDS out beyond all the DRAMA that YOU create! You are so pathetic and dull-witted and boring! You think you're going to be rewarded by leaving your pack lands to track us down? Jokes on you, rabbit-brain, you left your territory! You're as bad as us now! Heck, if Karter and I told Shadow you were in on it, that you wanted to leave the pack, who do you think she'd believe? YOU? Hardly!" She scoffed.

"We are here, you sniveling stalker, because every pack is so full of drama! Pups are dying and no one cares! The truce hangs by a thread and no one is doing anything to make the world better! And what are you doing here? Shoving your nose into drama you aren't even apart of? What claim do you have in anything we're doing, you flea! You rat!" She didn't care that she was ranting, that she was going on a tirade. She was so sick and tired of wolves trying to shove their noses in her personal life!

"You don't get to act like you know all of my secrets. You don't get to act like you know what I've been going through all this time. You don't get to stand there and justify why you're here, stalking wolves who would rather you were never apart of our lives to begin with! I am TIRED of you pack wolves thinking you know best! I am DONE with nosy, half-wits who have no lives of their own, squirreling their ways into my private affairs because you're lonely! If you want to have something going on, get your own girlfriend or Trainee or something, but stay out of Karter's business!" She stormed towards Betrum, snarling. "Maybe you're here out of concern for Aala. Fine! But if you tell her what you've seen this morning, before Karter has a chance to tell her himself, it's going to be YOUR FAULT that she gets hurt. Wake up and smell the flowers, Betrum. Circumstances aren't black and white and you following us to growl at us and preach to us like you're Alpha-HA! Life doesn't work that way." She shoved her muzzle in his face. "If you attack us, I will kill you. If you tell Aala or anyone else in any of the pack's what you've seen here, two friends having a good time in a place where borders don't apply... I will kill you. If you try to shove your nose into my business, or Karter's, or Aala's, guess what?" She waited a beat. "That's right, you'll be sent straight to the sky-dogs." She didn't step away from him, but stared beyond him, back towards the direction of the forest. "Leave. I won't be able to restrain myself much longer. This is your only warning."

((OOC: It's worth pointing out that she won't kill him. But I am upset that he suddenly teleported into Karter and Storm's scene. It's like the minute I think we're gonna wrap up a plot, someone is there to extend it. -sigh- I'm saying this in the nicest way I can: I won't kill your characters, but I'm not going to be nice to them if they insist upon antagonizing my already stressed out characters. Actions have consequences, even in a roleplay. This goes for everyone in this RP. <3))

Karter was worried and frustrated enough by being followed undetected, and then challenged because he spent time with his best and first friend. Then Storm has jumped in too, with more ferocity and fire than he had ever seen in her before. His eyes widened in shock as she not only snarled, but even threatened death upon Bertrum. Would she do something? He didn’t know, he didn’t want to find out.

"Storm..." The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he opted to shut up for once. He would have told her to calm down and leave things be, but he suspected this wasn’t just an in-the-moment thing. This could be months of loneliness, anger, and frustration, all pent up, coming out all at once. He fell silent, his mind racing. Storm had a point. Bertrum could tell Aala, but it would do more harm than good. Even so, he didn’t know for certain one way or another, and he REALLY didn’t want to make things worse than they had to be.

"Storm, let’s just..." Karter felt rooted in place, staring with wide eyes, and did his best to move, forcing himself to take a deep, yet slightly shaky breath and turn around, taking a couple steps away from Bertrum. "Let’s go. We don’t need to spend energy and time worryin' ‘bout what might be, right? That’s why we came out here in the first place, to escape worries and stress and just...be free for a while."

"Oh honey, I know I am." Smoke said the words in her usual, slightly cocky tone, perking up, but it was a bit different than usual. The young Warrior's smile, usually goofy and exaggerated, was genuine, and her face had simply lit up with pride. The cockiness faded from her voice and was replaced by a rare warmth as she looked at the lighter-furred Scout, meeting her eyes and holding her gaze. "And I know the relationship may be seen as kind of...odd to the eyes of others, but I don’t think I could be happier. I’ve made a lot of bad decisions in my life and I know it, but choosing to love and be loved, and to be your mate? The best decision I ever made, or ever will."

She rubbed lightly against her. Was it weird, to know that Starfire had just graduated at the time Smoke had been curled up snugly against her adoptive mother's belly? That Starfire had probably helped in the nursery when Smoke was just beginning to talk? Definitely. Did she have any regrets, or feel awkward about it? Definitely NOT.

Toby had not expected that answer. He’d made an idle suggestion, and Nightfall had come straight out about it. On one hand, he respected someone who had the courage to say something so important in the moment. On the other though, he wasn’t entirely sure how to feel. Yet he found himself smiling still. I must have missed SOMETHING. Something doesn’t add up there, does it? He asked himself.

"You...have feelings for me?" He echoed, feeling his face heat up. "Are...Are you sure? We've had a bit of an...odd past." Toby found himself smiling.

Storm was still fuming, staring down her nose at Betrum as if daring him to make one more stupid move that would land him with her fangs in his throat. How dare he act as though he knew what she'd gone through... he had no right! No right to follow them, to say those horrible things, to act all knowing! No right to be alive in her presence. It would just take a moment and then it would be over. He would be able to tell Aala, to hurt Aala, to hurt Karter... not if his throat was lying in pieces all over this pretty meadow. Would his blood make the flowers grow red next season? She narrowed her eyes at Betrum, but she flicked an ear towards Karter, listening to the hesitation in his voice.

To be free... Would they ever be free with the pack wolves so near? If they could track them all the way into a meadow... how far would they chase them before Storm and Karter were truly free of them? Her stomach churned. She could kill Betrum... she would get hurt in the process, for he was a warrior too, but... she could kill him, if it meant gaining her freedom from the pack wolves at last. She was certain that no one would miss Betrum if he died. He didn't have a mate or a Trainee... that's why he was out here, pretending to be important. She could do it...

But she'd heard the trepidation in Karter's voice and she let out a low growl.
"If you follow us, Betrum, you're just as dead as you will be if you tell anyone that you saw us today." She warned him and took a few steps back, before turning and following Karter. She strode behind him, making sure to put herself carefully between him and their stalker, in case the lunatic decided to follow or attack.
