The berries didn’t quite smell right, but perhaps his sense of smell was off because of his illness somehow. Frost's words were horrible. He might not make it. He hadn’t done all he had and built this Pack up only to die! But if a Healer said so, then it must be so. "I see... why would Moon NOT be okay though?" He asked when Frost suggested checking up on her.

Trey crouched down, the tawny brown Pup's broad shoulders tensed, watching Roland as he prepared to pounce. If Roland made a move towards him, he was ready to jump.

Leo perked up, glancing back at Janai on his back. "Yep!" He turned, looking between the Warrior and the Elder. "She mentioned having seen you when you were a little Pup with that Sariel Wolf mum told me you grew up with!"

MOON felt yet another weight filling up her chest, but she didn’t let this show on her face. She smiled slightly at Arian. “Little Trey has been raised right. I need to feed my pups. Could you call Trey, Blaze, Moonlight and Dawn over here for a feed?” She asked Arian, her voice slightly strained from being tired. She watched her daughter, her eyes sparkling. “Well, maybe show him you care for a bit longer then stop. Don’t waste your efforts” she told her daughter.

ATHENA watched her mate move, making sure that she hand hurt him. “Well-“ she paused, a wave of nausea fogging up her brain for a few moments. She shook it off and tried to continue. “I KNOW you’ll be a good father” she smiled happily, almost lopsided. “Being a mother is a weird idea, but it’s a good weird” she whispered with twinkling eyes.

"If you don't make it, she'll be dealing with the pups all on their own. Given your other daughter, I'm certain they're not exactly easy to handle."

Roland waited, then pounced for the other pup.

He looked surprised. "That's quite a while ago. When did you leave the Pack?"

Mattias's eyes lit up. "Well I think personally that you would make a great mom," the red-furred Warrior told her, pushin* his muzzle lightly against her own. "If we had a daughter, what do you think you would call her?" He asked. He could imagine it. A little daughter as beautiful as her mother.

Arian chuckled quietly and detached herself from Naomi, Kioko, Aru, and Denae, then brought Kinkajou and Dawn over to Moon, setting them gently in front of their mother. "These little ones are strong. I can feel that." She chuckled. "I don’t envy you." The suckling of just the smaller litter had left her sore, but it wasn’t terrible.

"My efforts aren’t wasted," Catania declared, although even she herself was aware that so far they had been fruitless. She wandered over and picked up Moonlight, bringing her over to her mother, then approached Trey, picking up the brown furred Pup by the scruff of his neck.

Trey growled deep in his throat, raising himself up to avoid the other Pup's attack, then squealed in protest as his big sister picked him up. He could defend himself against another Pup, but he couldn’t defend himself against a bigger wolf more than a year older. He squirmed, trying to free himself.

"Given how much she talks about you, I'll assume you’re talking about Catania, and not Violet," Max decided with a weak chuckle that faded into a cough. He swallowed the berries he’d been given. Maybe they would help stil. "Moon has come back every night to sleep next to me. I’ll talk to her tonight."

"That’d be like...YEARS ago! Wouldn't it?" Leo asked. If Vivian had once been part of the Pack, when had she become a loner, and even more, why had she left in the first place.

He nodded. "I don't see what she wants with me. She continues to follow me around."

Roland yipped at Catania, waddling to follow her so he could keep playing.

"It would. It would have to have been... More than five years ago now, wouldn't it?"

"Whoa! Five YEARS?" To the young white Trainee, just five years felt like an eternity! Were Shadow and Ash really THAT old? When he’d seen them in battle, they sure had fought with the strength, skill, and vigour of any younger Warrior. "You have to tell me about what growing up in the Pack is like sometime! Please?"

For all his mistrust, Max couldn’t help a small laugh, and despite his pain, it was a good feeling. "Frost...you’re young, and you always find a way to keep yourself too busy for your own good. Have you ever heard what a crush is?" He asked. The way Catania had spoken, there was no denying that was what was going through her mind.

Catania growled in vague annoyance, but the sound didn’t quite come out right through the mouthful of fur that was Trey. The young Trainee made her way across the nursery, trying her best not to step on the smaller Pup as she carried her baby brother over towards their mother. Trey certainly didn’t seem underfed, and he was still squirming in her grasp. Sky-Dogs...was I such a pawful when I was his age?

Trey squealed loudly, making Catania's ears flatten against her head, and wriggled in her grasp, staring down at Roland as he was carried away. He flailed his paws towards his new friend, as if that would help him escape the grasp of this strange she-wolf he hadn’t met before yet who shared his mother's scent.

Frost tilted his head. "No, I don't believe I have. It's not some sort of illness Jasmin neglected to tell me about, is it?"

Roland fell behind, and yipped sadly as his friend was carried away, before flopping to the ground.

He chuckled. "Sure, Leo. And yeah, your mum and I are both seven years old, though she's getting closer to eight."

"I thought she already WAS eight? She said she was getting old, but you’re not really old until your eight or nine, right? Besides, aren’t you a year younger than her or something?" Or maybe he had heard wrong? Leo couldn’t remember. Numbers and names and words flew around the camp like a wildfire in dry bushes.

Catania dropped Trey lightly in front of their mother and gently nudged the tawny furred Pup towards their mother's belly to nurse, keeping an eye on him to make sure he wasn’t going to try and make a move for the light outside, as many Pups did once their eyes had opened. Yep. He’s like me. She decided as she noticed him looking between the light outside, then back at Roland.

Max laughed again. "No, no it’s not an illness in itself. It’s..." Hmmm...how does one describe such things to a wolf who refuses to socialize? He wondered. "You may have noticed she’s rather suddenly become clingy, chatty, and especially touchy-feely. I’m sure even as young as you are you know what a MATE is. Usually that is an...enhanced form of a crush. A crush is...to have feelings for someone else, like them in a way that goes beyond a platonic connection." He had no idea if the younger understood any of what he said, but it was the best way he could explain it.

Ash chuckled. "Not quite. She's about half a year older than me."

"Ohhhh okay." Leo looked up at his trainer with a cheeky grin, light sparkling in his eyes. "So you’re BOTH old, then?" He joked. Perhaps Ash was not the best wolf to joke around with, but 1. Leo knew he wouldn’t get hurt, 2. Ah why not annoy him just a little? It wasn’t harmful anyway, right?

"Well..." Max ticked his paws under him, considering how best to put it. "Feelings for another...as in a romantic sense? Surely THAT makes sense." Even to your berry-sized brain... "As in, Cat is treating you differently than she treats Feluris or Tendril, yes, who are close in age? Tries to get close?"
