"It’s exciting! We get to hit things and practice technique! Sparring is always fun, and I’m pretty awesome! I think I might graduate soon." She puffed her chest out proudly. "Alpha Shadow is my trainer!"

Fish stifled a sob when Cole spoke. "At..." her voice shook, and she made no effort to stop it. "At l-least he...he died an honourable death... the sky-dogs w-will welcome him."

Shadow growled in frustration and pushed up as much as she could, trying to raise her head and shoulders from where she lay, in hopes of gaining some ground.

Ash couldn't hold her down perfectly, despite his larger size and weight, as she was fairly strong herself. He eventually gave up pinning her, and let himself roll to the side and off her.

As soon as he’d released her, the Alpha sprang to her feet, wishing she could stop and catch her breath again, but in no battle was there time to pause for anything. She ran at him to tackle him again.

He turned, and shifted to meet her directly, growling.

She veered off to the side, then made a sharp turn, lunging forward and snapped at his right side, right by the ribs.

"Everyone's got their own scars, and the stories that accompany them, huh?" Smoke asked, sitting down and letting her tail lay flat beside her. "Battle or Hunt, there’s always an interesting story."

"There certainly are!" Tendril flicked her ear and curled her tail over her paws. She narrowed her eyes as Alpha Shadow and Ash fought. She was still impressed by how very graceful the two wolves were. She blinked and glanced over at Smoke, who was watching them with a mild interest. "Smoke, I must thank you for teaching me what you have learned." She tilted her head towards the older Trainee. "I know I am from another Pack, from an enemy Pack. On any other occasion this may seem as treachery." She returned to gazing at the sparring wolves for a bit. "Tonight, it seems not." She exhaled a little breath and cast a look up at the shining, full moon, listening to the rustle of the leaves on the large oak trees surrounding the glade.
