As Ash pulled himself up, Shadow jumped backwards to avoid being pinned, then came around to his left to try and take one of his legs out from under him.

"Yep! It’s pretty basic. So when an opponent comes at you, lean backwards, like this." Smoke pulled her weight back onto her hips, leaving her forelegs barely on the ground. "At the same time, use your shoulders to pull yourself up. You can only hold for a couple of seconds really, but you have a number of options from here. What I did was while I was up, I just swung one paw. My favourite though is one Shadow taught me a few days ago. I’ll show you that one too if you want."

Looking around, but finding Shadow occupied with battle, Acero shrugged and made his way over to a small she-wolf he didn’t recognize. Probably not a Warrior, then. "Hello," he greeted her with a nod. "I'm Acero. Haven’t seen you around before. What’s your name?" He asked.

Tendril squinted at Smoke's stance, studying it until she landed back down. The Hunter Trainee tried to copy Smoke, and stood on her hind legs, balancing for about 2.3 seconds. She laughed and wagged her tail as her paws came back to the ground. Tendril tilted her head at the Warrior Trainee as he continued talking. "Ooooh, fancy! Sure, that would be cool!" Tendril picked a dead twig off her fur and tossed it away.

"Try and attack me again, just like you did before. This move's kinda advanced, but it’s super fun," she exclaimed, excitement in her voice.

Tendril blinked twice and bit her lip in concentration, then forced her tail to still as much as it possibly could. The Trainee flattened her ears and squinted, making an attempt to look small and harmless. She smoothed down her fur to look as little as possible, then sprinted forwards and feigned her attack again, this time the fake position being Smoke's right shoulder and Tendril's actual target the left.

OOC: Yeah, I dunno when things’re happening, but right now the Meet is still on. Even if the Meet ends today, they’ll still have to go home and settle for the night.
OOC2: @Misty: Just the Meet stuff. Announcements were made, trading was done, and now some wolves are sparring. Aala's Pups have been born, and Accalia's been promoted to a full Healer.

Acero sat down next to the young Huntress. "Pleasure to meet you, Huntress Beau." He dipped his head to the she-wolf. "I’m well! What of yourself?"

Smoke watched Tendril's eyes. Her body moved one way, but her eyes the other, betraying her movement. Smoke twisted and reared again, then came crashing down, making sure not to put TOO much force into it as they landed, her paws pinning Tendril's front paws as she came down. Then she got off. "Shadow says that’s a good one if you want a power blow, but I tried not to put too much strength into that one."

"Blake...h-he was much beloved here...and I’m so sorry to have to announce his death. He died under the claws of a cougar when it decided to hunt. Golli and Cole are bringing back the body for a proper burial. Because if anyone deserves to be buried with honours, it’s Blake." Toby hung his head and shook it. "Fish and Blizzard especially, I know, will miss him, and I’m so, so sorry that this happened." I should’ve done something when I had the chance...

Fish was still sitting by the trout, happy to sit in the last rays of sun and wait for Blake. She had much to tell him she’d thought about. Then Toby made his announcement, and shock rippled through the dark grey she-wolf. She sprang to her paws, all the cheerful thoughts disappearing. It wasn’t possible...Blake was dead? I...I never got to tell him... Tears came to her eyes, and she threw back her head and let out a howl of grief and anguish.

The white wolf growled. She should’ve been prepared for a move like that, but she hadn’t been quick enough. That’s odd... normally I would be fine... She twisted her body to use her forepaws and try to shove him off.
