There was silence as the young female took her deep breath and exhaled, leaving a light mist hanging in the air. Was something bothering her? "Are you okay?" Leo asked, stopping where he was and turning to look at Beau properly. Something seemed to be on the Huntress's mind.

She let her eyes linger on his. "Then the question is not commitment, but to what level. At a standstill, where we are now, or to take it to the next step as official mates? I know of some wolves who prefer to just have lighthearted relationships, or to be committed and not take an official mate. It’s all about the individual."

She smirked. "Oh quit stammering." She leaned forward and touched her nose to Ash's. "Good. I just wanted to make sure, because I was going to ask you to be my mate and take a place as the second Alpha." She knew it was a lot of responsibility as well as commitment, and if he didn’t want it, that was fine. They could stay where they were and that would be perfectly understandable, but it was fair to ask, since it had been on her mind.

Karter glanced over again at Waylynn. They had spent too much time here to catch up with Valley and keep her company while she hunted, the sun was beginning to sink. "We should get back to camp, before it gets dark. Sky-dogs only know why, but Shadow gets upset if too many wolves are out after dark. Almost like she’s scared or somethin'."
