Kali hadn't spotted Nova peeking out of the den, she had been attentive to Needle's body language incase she had taken offense to her comment. She was relieved when Needle responded in a positive manner and even more surprised when the alpha turned and spoke to her daughter. Kali followed her gaze to see that Nova was indeed watching them, her head poking out of the den like a mole.
The otherwise stoic female briefly let a tail wag slip as she watched the interaction, happy that Nova was getting some attention in a positive manner. She once again felt a surge of gratitude towards the alpha for helping Nova feel at home and for accepting them.

Nova

Nova jumped slightly when the alpha turned and spoke her name. She had thought she had kept out of sight and still enough to listen in on them without being caught. Clearly, she was still learning the whole process of sneaking.
Once she was caught she slowly came out and then slowly wagged her tail, glancing between the two adults. "Yes ma'am." She mused, a shy smile spreading over her lips. "I-I heard you are the strongest wolf in the pack." She continued. "M-mom said that the other pack wasn't very smart either, b-but you are!" She fumbled over her words a few times clearly a bit nervous. Aside from her mother, she didn't often talk to the other wolves. "Right mom? She said it's okay so we can go, right? Please?" Her tail wagged a bit faster now, clearly excited.

Solaris

"Believe it or not most of the wolves in this pack are very kind, I'm sure they would not chase you off without reason. Don't be shy to reach out to them, it's best if you are able to get along with everyone, after all, we are a pack." As she began to speak again he continued to walk down the deer trail, still safely in the territory. "Hmm, for now, it would be good if we could just get you used to the scent. It would be dangerous if we tried to hunt on our own, I wouldn't want you getting hurt on your first deer track." He smiled and then paused again to smell the air. For now, all he could smell was the stale scent they had left earlier in the morning, it would be a while still until they found fresh scents he could use to teach her. In the meantime, he figured he would test her on the scents she already knew. "Can you tell me what you can smell around us?"

The wind picked up, blowing from somewhere beyond the Blood Moon border. Corentin tipped his muzzle upwards slightly, sniffing it curiously, mostly out of habit, as Erebos mused about the mysterious happenings with Ghost, as of late. He had to admit that he was curious as well, but now that he had decided Ghost's choices were none of his business, Corentin no longer cared enough about the situation to actually find answers to the questions that were so quickly becoming mere hypotheticals.
Corentin's nose twitched. He had scented something carried on the wind from somewhere just outside Blood Moon territory, something interesting enough to take his attention away from both his beta and his thoughts. By the time she spoke, he was already thinking the same thing.
"Yes, I think you're right." he agreed. "It smells like they're past the border, though, so that loner isn't doing anything wrong at the moment. Do you still want to leave Ghost to his own decisions, or shall we go check it out?"
Corentin was hoping that Erebos would leave it alone. He was eager to report any relevant details to Shade and move on from all this unfortunate drama, but something told him that she would not let this go so easily when Ghost and his "new friend" were so nearly within their metaphorical grasp.

The flattery coming from Nova's shy stutters was a surprise, but a pleasant one. Few wolves would argue with a kind word sent their way, after all. Needle offered an encouraging wag of the tip of tail to the nervous pup before responding in any other way. She wanted to help grow Nova's confidence, and acting in an unnecessarily intimidating manner would not help her goal in the slightest.
Needle raised an eyebrow in Kali's direction at the comparison with the "other pack's" intelligence. In all honesty, Needle agreed with the sentiment, which was why she had defected in the first place. Her tone grew a bit more playful again.
"Did she now? Your mom's right. You should listen to her."
She flicked an ear in amusement at Nova's growing excitement. It was clear that she was eager to get going, and Needle was not one to get in the way of a desire for self-improvement. Fishing was a valuable skill.
"Your call, Kali."
Needle turned back the hunter and, with a swish of her tail, gestured that she was dismissed from the obligations of conversation and free to enjoy her outing with her daughter. Needle's eyes held a certain knowing warmth and appreciation, though she kept her posture more professional. This pair of relative newcomers were integrating nicely, and Needle was glad to have them around.

She moved forward lightly flicking her tail as she listened to the other wolfs speaks and thought for a moment "maybe we could spy them for a moment, just to make sure Ghost is not in danger or...there not plotting something together..." she said giving a quick look around the forest "the borders are not far and the wind seems to be on our side now, as long they don't see us, we could not bother whatever they're doing there" she said to him, facing him once again.

She flicked her ears for any voices she heard and sniffed the air "yes, we're family, but I sure hope that there could be younger wolves like I am, yes I know there is Kade, he is a great wolf, but he seems to be so busy with her parents all the time" she said to him silently. She listened to what else he told her, nodding "I understand that, I don't like to get hurt either, it's not fun..." she said giving a small smile then focused to the wind "hm? I smell the hight ranks further away, but it's fading likely they walked somewhere else...I do smell a squirrel...and some small prey" she told him looking at the scout.

He narrowed his eyes when the she-hunter faced him "yes you are noisy and yes I could do better, but I don't feel like it, right now" he said to her, slowing his head over his paws "as you can see, I am taking my peaceful happy times by myself" he said to her.

Just as Corentin had expected, Erebos wanted to go snoop. Fortunately, that was all she wanted, and Corentin was alright with that compromise.
"Alright." he agreed with a nod. "Best get going, then, before the wind changes again."
As a scout, Corentin was very much accustomed to unpredictable things like wind speed and direction being fickle at best and downright traitorous at worst. Ordinarily, he would wait for his superior to give the order before moving, but in this case, he felt his input was valuable enough to share. Besides, Erebos was fairly easygoing, especially when compared to her beta counterpart, and Corentin did not feel the need to be so serially formal around her at all times.
He hesitated only a moment more to give his pelt a firm shake. It was important to have loose muscles when doing stealthy work, and he felt ready after that. Then, Corentin turned his paws in the direction of the scent and began walking. At first, he mainly followed the trail on the ground left over from when Ghost ran away, but he kept track of the scents on the wind as well. He needed to gauge how close he was getting to judge how quiet he needed to be, and he did not want to be surprised in case either wolf decided to double back on the trail.

Nova's tail now held a steady rhythm as it thumped side to side. Her paws shifted under her as she excitedly moved about, trying to contain her excitement the best she could. "Yes ma'am, I always listen." She mused a bit more confidently. "I want to be able and go out on my own, so momma says I have to work hard and learn lots." She added, looking towards Kali for approval.

Kali

Kali held a small smile over her maw as she watched Nova's excitement grow; a mere month ago the pup had been very ill and listless so the change was welcomed. Nothing made her heart warmer than seeing Nova feel better.
As Needle turned back to face her she straightened her posture and nodded. "Thank you, we will go to the river then." She then looked over to Nova and tilted her head, signaling the pup to go ahead and go to the camp entrance, which she obediently did. Kali then turned to Needle and nudged the rabbit she had caught towards the alpha. "Thank you again, I'd be happy if you took this for yourself. I understand if you won't, but for now, this is all I have." She mused, before dipping her head and turning to lead Nova off into the forest. There was a bit of pep to her step, giving away the fact that she too had been looking forward to spending some time at the river.

Solaris

"I see, So you would like it if there were more pups your age then?" He questioned with thought. "Perhaps I could speak with the alphas and see if I can take you two out to explore a bit, it is important to know your territory, as well as your packmates." He chipperly suggested, hoping to cheer the fea up. "I can't promise they will agree with it, but I will try." He smiled. As they paused for her small test he tilted his head at her remark. "Higher ranks?" He questioned before giving the wind another sniff. Sure enough, he could just barely make out the smell of the two betas somewhere off in the distance. This observation made him smile and the male's tail began to wag. "Good job!" He mused and pawed at the younger wolf's head in an approving gesture. "Can you tell which direction the squirrel or small prey is coming from? See if you can't tell me which way we need to go to find them."

Maple watched as her pups appeared, chuckling at their behavior. She’d wait to continue with questions for a little, while watching her pups. She hoped that Cinder was right, that this alpha would accept them.

Nik looked over at the stranger, giving an offended expression. Sitting down he turned his head away, as if he wouldn’t speak. However he decided it be best to introduce himself, as it was the polite thing to do. “I’m Nikolas, however I suppose you can call me Nik.” He muttered looking over.

Lunine looked over growling at Nik, “your not my boss, mommy is!” She turned to the stranger her tail wagging excitedly. “I know! Mommy says I’m so energetic that I could take down a whole herd of elk!” She said happily, “I’m Lunine but you can call me Luni!!”

For the moment, Cinder was indeed a bit distracted by the youthful pair that had just appeared. She felt a bit bad that moon pup, or Nikolas, or Nik - he suddenly had so many names - was clearly hurt by the dismissive comments. Perhaps she had been too rough, verbally, for the little guy. Lunine, or sun pup, or Luni - she also had a lot of names - failed to notice anything was up with her brother, and continued bouncing off the metaphorical walls in excitement.
"Nik and Luni." Cinder said, turning to one, and then the other, as she committed these names to memory, though she somehow doubted she would keep them completely straight among all the options available to her. "I'm Cinder. You know, because of my fur. Look just like it, don't I? It's good camouflage for hunting elk herds in the dark."
She flashed a grin at Lunine over the reference to elk and laid down, settling herself into the dirt so as to be more on the pups' eye level. Then, in an effort to include moon pup and patch up her rough start with him, Cinder gave him a little nudge with her nose and a wag of her tail as she asked him a question.
"How about you, Nikolas? How'd you get your name?"

Needle had not noticed how hungry she had gotten until Kali offered her the rabbit. She had done little in the way of physical labor, but the psychological burden of leadership would cause anyone to work up an appetite.
"Thank you, Kali. I always appreciate your efforts." she accepted gracefully, and then blinked her farewell as Kali padded off to join her daughter for their outing.
The main camp had gotten quiet with only Needle left as its sole guardian, but she was not worried. Needle had spoken truthfully about her confidence in camp's security. She expected her patrol to return within the hour, and there were a few other pack members milling about that may turn up. Another truth was the pleasure she took in the tranquility of solitude. Perhaps she would enjoy Kali's rabbit after all. Though, Needle would be sure to remember the gesture and ensure Kali and Nova both had a nice dinner before sunset. It would hardly be fair for a successful hunter to go hungry, after all. That was exactly why she had thoughts of getting a hunting party together once the border patrol returned. Her pack would need feeding.

Kaj was eager to begin the chase, but he would wait until Mercury gave him some direction. He was worried about the wind shifting and giving away the hunters' positions, but he also knew that being too hasty could be just as disastrous. So far, the herd of deer seemed oblivious to the wolves' presence, and Kaj could just make out the reds and blacks of his companions' fur through the tall grass. Everything seemed set. He was ready to pounce. Already, Kaj scanned the herd, searching for any easy targets among the weakest, slowest-looking of the herd.

She nodded "yes we could," she said speeding up her steps to get closer to see and maybe hear what the two cats were being talked about. Narrowing her eyes she got down and checked that the wind was blowing on her way, so the Ghost and the stranger could not scent them.

She gave a nod to the older wolf, sniffing the air carefully, flicking her ears "I can smell the squirrel up to that tree there and the smaller preys are under it, somewhere inside that bush which is there" she said, turning her gaze to the way when she mentioned the preys to be.

Corentin was just ahead of Erebos, and soon found himself settled in the bushes nearby. He could just make out flashes of white pelts through the leaves, and he was easily close enough to hear what the pair were speaking about. Judging by the scents, he was looking Ghost and a stranger. They both happened to have the same fur color, so he was not completely sure who was who until he heard their voices. Both were fairly deep, one slightly more so. The more familiar one belonged to his, perhaps former, packmate, leaving the second, slightly higher-pitched voice to belong to the loner. Corentin knew it would take a few minutes for his and Erebos' scents to accumulate enough for the white wolves to notice them, as long as they stayed quiet. He stayed as still as a statue and listened. After a minute or three, he would make sure he left with Erebos before they stayed long enough to cause trouble. Corentin could only hope Erebos would be satisfied with that and follow him. If not, it was his duty to obey her, even if he disagreed, so he would do as she asked.

The pair of pack wolves had stalked Becka and Ghost well. She had no idea they were near enough to eavesdrop on their conversation, especially since she was not particularly focused on her surroundings. Piecing together Ghost's story and offering what support she could were tasks that took her focus away from searching for possible danger. She trained her hazel eyes on Ghost's grey ones, patiently waiting to hear what he planned to do about his situation. Becka knew Ghost was going through something difficult, even if she did not fully understand what, and was perfectly willing to give him all the time he needed.

Solaris nodded at the pup and looked at the direction she had insinuated. He was impressed that she knew well enough to pinpoint the prey's location and proudly nudged her. "Come, let's see if we cant find you those deer now, stick close to me." He said as he continued down the trail. As they walked they continued deeper into the territory, every now and then getting close to the border, but remaining inside. It was clear that the deer often used the trail for their grazing as much of the foliage along the way was eaten down or stepped on. After an hour or so of walking, he suddenly paused, the trail finally leaving Blood Moon territory. He could tell that the deer had only just recently crossed the border into the other territory. All his hopes of showing Presea left him as he turned to her with a small smile. "This is as far as we go for today. We didn't catch them in time for me to show you one but we are downwind so you should be able to get a good scent if you try." He barked with a wag of the tail. "The scent is fresh enough for your lesson anyway so try and remember it for next time." He mused lifting his nose and smelling the air. The scent of deer certainly was strong, stronger than they had come across so far; however, so was the scent of the border. Clearly the other pack had been nearby recently to strengthen their scent here. Solaris was alert as he allowed the pup to take her time and smell the trail.

The two wolves had made their way out of camp and headed off in the direction of one of the many rivers on Shadow territory. Kali and Nova spent their time relaxing in the river downstream before getting to business on the training. First things first, Kali ensured that Nova was familiar with the ground around the river, aware of any sudden dips or exposed roots. It was important to know the terrain around any body of water. Once this was over they moved onto the actual fishing. Kali had spent many years fishing in rivers and it was one of the few things she genuinely enjoyed doing. So, as she taught her daughter she glowed with pride and joy, enjoying their simple bonding time. Within an hour Nova had nearly managed to catch her first fish and Kali was onto her second, pausing the training for a well-deserved snack break on the river bank.
