the year is 6012, the humans almost completely perished nearly 2000 years ago, only a few surviving, the year may as well be the 1800's everything has gone old fashion, except this time, there's no going forwards. there are small towns here and there, old and worn down, just like in the 1800's, money is hard to come by, cows, sheep, horses, they are all used to buy things, trading jewellery to buy things from places like general stores and gunsmiths if money is not available, yep, it really may as well be the 1800's. with no electricity, everything has gone backwards, back to horses and horse and carts being used as transport taking days if not weeks to get from one place to another. but, the humans are still a threat, for everyone knows there are good horses out there with good breeding, so, humans are still rounding up wild horses, but in the old fashion way, on horseback, using corrals and lane ways to get horses into them, breaking in horses and selling them to the highest bidder. over time 60% of the tame horse population became feral, escaping stables, properties, the other half, perishing with the humans. top show jumpers, dressage horses, eventers, ropers, camp drafters, barrel horses, top bred horses, low bred horses, thoroughbreds, warmbloods, standardbreds, quarterhorses, stock horses, arabians, clydesdales, you name it they all escaped. ranch's crumbled to almost nothing, some of even the strongest buildings demolished over the last few hundred years, the odd barn here and there still up and standing. over the last 1500 years animals began to flourish, buffalo coming in the hundreds, deer in the thousands and horse herds larger than ever. that also means predator populations have risen, bears, wolves, cougars, which means when the winter snow thaws and foals are born, the predators come out, bears are the least likely to come towards horses unless they are starving, preferring fish and berries, but wolf packs and cougars definitely will be a big threat.

I. follow all chicken smoothie rules II. fade when needed III. no character limit as long as you can play them all (stallions slots may become be limited) IV. keep fights fair, and discuss the outcome with the other user, through discussion thread preferred so everyone else knows whats about to happen V. experience does matter when it comes to age, however, the horses breed also comes into affect, read below VI. horses will begin to weaken by 18 VII. mares remain fertile till death, they can give birth at 27 however the chance of survival becomes incredibly low for them, meaning if they pass, so does the foal VIII. i do expect at least a paragraph per horse, however writers block is understandable, if you don't muse, you don't have to post for all your characters IX. i'll allow three sets of twins each spring, let me know to reserve the slot X. no ponies or miniatures allowed period XI. if inactive for over a week, you'll receive a pm XII. must ask that you disable your signatures on this thread

information on some breeds you may choose to use/cross your horses with

    warmblood
warmbloods are a group of middle-weight horse types and breeds primarily originating in europe and registered with organizations that are characterized by open studbook policy, studbook selection, and the aim of breeding for equestrian sport. the term distinguishes these horses from both heavy draft horses ("cold bloods") and refined light saddle horses such as the thoroughbred, arabian, and akhal-teke ("hot bloods"). although modern warmbloods are descended from heavier agricultural types systematically upgraded by hotblood influence, the term does not imply that warmbloods are direct crosses of "cold" and "hot" more information will depend on the type of warmblood. please note there are several types of warmbloods and they all vary

    thoroughbred
the thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. thoroughbreds are considered "hot-blooded" horses that are known for their agility, speed, and spirit. thoroughbred racehorses perform with maximum exertion, which has resulted in high accident rates and health problems such as bleeding from the lungs. other health concerns include low fertility, abnormally small hearts and a small hoof-to-body-mass ratio. the typical thoroughbred ranges from 15.2 to 17.0 hands high, however can be go outside those ranges. they are most often bay, dark bay or brown, chestnut, black, or grey. less common colors recognized in the united states include roan and palomino. white is very rare, but is a recognized color separate from gray. the face and lower legs may be marked with white, but white will generally not appear on the body. coat patterns that have more than one color on the body, such as Pinto or Appaloosa, are not recognized by mainstream breed registries. good-quality thoroughbreds have a well-chiseled head on a long neck, high withers, a deep chest, a short back, good depth of hindquarters, a lean body, and long legs.

    standardbred
standardbreds tend to be more muscled and longer bodied than the thoroughbred. they also are of more placid dispositions, as suits horses whose races involve more strategy and more changes of speed than do thoroughbred races. standardbreds are considered people-oriented, easy-to-train horses. they are solid, well-built horses with good dispositions. they are generally a bit heavier in build than thoroughbreds, but have refined, solid legs and powerful shoulders and hindquarters. standardbreds have a wide range of heights, from 14 to 17 hands, although most are between 15 and 16 hands. they are most often bay, brown or black, although other colors such as chestnut are seen. grey and roan are also found

    arabian
with a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world. It is also one of the oldest breeds. arabian horses have refined, wedge-shaped heads, a broad forehead, large eyes, large nostrils, and small muzzles. most display a distinctive concave, or "dished" profile. many arabians also have a slight forehead bulge between their eyes, called the jibbah by the bedouin, that adds additional sinus capacity, believed to have helped the Arabian horse in its native dry desert climate. another breed characteristic is an arched neck with a large, well-set windpipe set on a refined, clean throatlatch. this structure of the poll and throatlatch was called the mitbah or mitbeh by the bedouin. In the ideal arabian it is long, allowing flexibility in the bridle and room for the windpipe. arabians usually stand between 14.1 to 15.1 hands tall, with the occasional individual over or under. the arabian coat colors are generally bay, gray, chestnut, black, and roan. bay, gray and chestnut are the most common; black is less common. the classic roan gene does not appear to exist in arabians rather, arabians who appear roan are usually expressing rabicano or, sometimes, sabino patterns with roan features. all arabians, no matter their coat color, have black skin, except under white markings. black skin provided protection from the intense desert sun. purebred arabians never carry dilution genes. therefore, purebreds cannot be colors such as dun, cremello, palomino or buckskin. there are six known genetic disorders in arabian horses. two are inevitably fatal, two are not inherently fatal but are disabling and usually result in euthanasia of the affected animal; the remaining conditions can usually be treated (research for information).

    quarter horse
the quarter horse has a small, short, refined head with a straight profile, and a strong, well-muscled body, featuring a broad chest and powerful, rounded hindquarters. they usually stand between 14 and 16 hands high, although some halter-type and english hunter-type horses may grow as tall as 17 hands. there are two main body types: the stock type and the hunter or racing type. the stock horse type is shorter, more compact, stocky and well-muscled, yet agile. the racing and hunter type quarter horses are somewhat taller and smoother muscled than the stock type, more closely resembling the thoroughbred. quarter horses come in nearly all colors. the most common color is sorrel, a brownish red, part of the color group called chestnut by most other breed registries. other recognized colors include bay, black, brown, buckskin, palomino, gray, dun, red dun, grullo (also occasionally referred to as blue dun), red roan, blue roan, bay roan, perlino, cremello, and white.

    australian stock horse
the australian stock horse is bred for intelligence, courage, toughness, and stamina. the horse will be sound, agile and quick moving with a sure-footed walk. it will have a calm, responsive temperament. all colours are acceptable. height ranges from 14 to 16.2 hands.

    american paint horse
the terms "paint" and "pinto" are sometimes both used to describe paint horses. but "paint" horses are the breed and "pinto" is actually the colouring of the horse. similar information to the quarter horse and stock horse however are always pinto coloured or solid coloured.

    clydesdale
today, the clydesdale stands 16 to 18 hands high and weighs 1,800 to 2,000 pounds. some mature males are larger, standing taller than 18 hands and weighing up to 2,200 pounds. the breed has a straight or slightly convex facial profile, broad forehead, and wide muzzle. it is well muscled and strong, with an arched neck, high withers, and a sloped shoulder. their gaits are active, with clearly lifted hooves and a general impression of power and quality. cydesdales are energetic, with a manner described by the clydesdale horse society as a "gaiety of carriage and outlook". clydesdales have been identified to be at risk for chronic progressive lymphedema, a disease with clinical signs that include progressive swelling, hyperkeratosis, and fibrosis of distal limbs that is similar to chronic lymphedema in humans. another health concern is a skin condition on the lower leg where feathering is heavy. colloquially called "clyde's itch", it is thought to be caused by a type of mange. clydesdales are also known to develop sunburn on any pink (unpigmented) skin around their faces. clydesdales are usually bay in colour, but a roaning pattern, black, grey, and chestnut also occur. most have white markings, including white on the face, feet, and legs, and occasional body spotting (generally on the lower belly). they also have extensive feathering on their lower legs. roaning, body spotting, and extensive white markings are thought to be the result of sabino genetics.

    shire horse
Shire colours may be black, bay, brown, roan or grey while not common, there are chestnuts. height varies from 16"2 to about 19"0 hands however some may vary either way. the head of a shire is long and lean, with large eyes, set on a neck that is slightly arched and long in proportion to the body. the shoulder is deep and wide, the chest wide, the back muscular and short and the hindquarters long and wide. not too much feathering occurs on the legs, and the hair is fine, straight, and silky

    gypsy vanner
the gypsy horse is usually, but not always, piebald. it may also be skewbald or any solid colour; a solid-coloured horse with white splashing on the underbelly is called "blagdon" or "splashed". they usually range from 13"0 to 16"0 hands. a gypsy horse's facial profile should be straight, neither overly dished nor roman nosed. a "sweet" head, more refined than that of most draught horses. the neck is strong, muscular, and of medium length "with a throat latch slightly deeper than lighter breeds". the chest should be broad, deep, and well muscled. withers are "well rounded, not high and fine, i.e., hardly noticeable". most standards call for a "well-sloped" shoulder. the gypsy horse's are usually a strong, kind, (very) intelligent partner that works willingly and harmoniously with its handler. they are also described as mannerly and manageable, eager to please, confident, courageous, alert, and loyal with a genuine sociable outlook. the gypsy horse is renowned for its gentle, tractable nature and sensible disposition

    mustang
the original mustangs were colonial spanish horses, but many other breeds and types of horses contributed to the modern mustang, resulting in varying phenotypes. mustangs of all body types are described as surefooted and having good endurance. They may be of any coat color and usually 14"0 to 16"0 hands. they often have a well-proportioned body with a clean, refined head with wide forehead and small muzzle. the facial profile may be straight or slightly convex. withers are moderate in height, and the shoulder is to be "long and sloping." the standard considers a very short back, deep girth and muscular coupling over the loins as desirable. the croup is rounded, neither too flat nor goose-rumped. the tail is low-set. the legs are to be straight and sound. hooves are round and dense. dun color dilution and primitive markings are particularly common among horses of spanish type. natural selection has eliminated many traits that lead to weakness or inferiority

    belgium draft
the belgian heavy draft horse stands between 16.2 and 17 hands. on average the belgian grows to weigh slightly over 2000 pounds. most american belgians are a light chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. the head is relatively small and well-shaped. american belgians in north america are not as large as the european brabant but are of a similar build.

xxxSEASONSxxx

summer
in summer, days grow long and hot. nights are short, but offer a few hours of comfortable temperatures. many horses migrate toward water sources or shade, seeking to hide from the afternoon sun. mares are still in heat, though by this point all foals from the previous year will have already been born. stallion are still on the search for more mares, while lead mares move the herd to a cooler location. despite the heat, summer is an active season. young stallions show off, yearling mares get whisked away, and band stallions are daring enough to attempt stealing a mare or two. rain is not common in summer, and if it does it is often a warm, heavy rain that lasts only a couple hours at most.

autumn
with autumn comes the return of cooler temperatures. nights and mornings are chilly, hinting at the freezing months to follow. rain becomes more common, and the colors of the land begin to fade. turning from dark green to vibrant oranges and reds, until the earth is taken over by a dull gray. mares are rarely in heat during autumn, but those covered in spring may start to foal. should this happen, there is a slim chance that said mares may go into heat for the remaining weeks of autumn, but may not always accept a stallion.

winter
winter. snow coats the ground, the earth is blanketed in a glistening white, and temperatures drop. foals can be born throughout the winter months, however not all will survive the freezing the temperatures. mares are never in heat, and stallions are calm, instead fighting against predators whom may use the horses's weakened state to attack. food must be dug out from under the snow, and thin layers of ice may have to broken to reach water.

spring
spring, the season of new life. temperatures rise to a comfortable level, snow melts away, revealing new growth, and animals come out of hiding. in spring, mares are beginning to go back into heat, and some late foals may even be born. new herds are forming, old ones expanding, while yearlings venture away from home to find their own place in the wilderness. rain is common, and clouds always dot the sky.

IMP !! dark bay tobiano, 16"3, kwpn x mustang

I stallion II fourteen years III mares: none IV foals: none
      TAGGED. ---

imp had been laying in the sun just off from a stream for about two hours now, occasionally getting up looking around then laying back down. some might call him a bit lazy, but truth was, when he was relaxed, he was just a very calm horse, it didn't take much for him to wake up, and he could go from sprawled out on the grass in the warm sun to standing on tall on all four hooves in a matter of seconds, and while he didn't need to make himself appear bigger, he always managed to when he stood upright and held him self together, which with his dark coat against the white pattern, often made him an imposing looking horse, which was why he often tried to get mares to come to him, if they saw him all sprawled out on the grass, they'd see he wasn't as big and daunting as he looked, not many stallions relaxed to the extent he did, perhaps it was his age? just getting older, but honestly? he'd always been a pretty laid back kinda guy. never the less, he lay upright, four legs tucked around him and he nibbled the long grass around him, parts of the meadow's grass were at his knee level, so some of his body seemed hidden, but being so large, it wasn't possible for all of him to be hidden unless he was laying in thick summer grass. with a loud lasting groan, the stallion rubbed his maw against his leg before groaning again as he rolled himself onto his side, stretching his legs out straight as he sprawled himself across the grass, lazily nipping at the grass around his fat velvet lips.

JOKER !! sorrel chestnut, four stockings, star and stripe, 16"1 thoroughbred x arabian

I stallion II four years III mares: none IV foals: none
      TAGGED. phoenix, open

joker flicked grazed beside twin half brother and snorted softly, ears flicking he walekd towards him and playfully flicked his ears back at him before nipping at his flank, all he got at first was a lifted leg and a lash of his tail, but after a moment when he nipped again, then again, enticing his brother into a play spar, the golden stallion snorted and half reared, twisting his neck to bite at his brothers chest. the duo exchanged rears, bucks, kicks, nips and bites at one another, before joker, the faster of the two of them broke into a gallop towards the river, both slowing to a sliding stop and turning into one another half rearing before phoenix sent a kick to jokers hip, this one a little bit more painful than usual, he pinned his ears and retaliated by lunging at his brother and biting hard taking off a bit of skin from the palomino. ears pinned the duo separated a bit and began to graze by themselves.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PHOENIX !! palomino, blaze and two stockings, 16"0 thoroughbred x arabian

I stallion II four years III mares: none IV foals: none
      TAGGED. joker, open

phoenix grazed calmly, keeping an eye on his surroundings, when his twin brother suddenly came towards him trying to entice him into play, phoenix pinned his ears and flicked his tail at his brother ignoring him for a little while until his nips became irritating and with a sharp snort he turned and twisted himself around to bite his brothers chest. as the two mucked around in a play spar, he suddenly found himself galloping behind his brother, kicking up his heels as he stretched himself out faster trying to keep up with his brother until he found himself sliding to a stop and rearing beside his brother, at one of his brothers nips, phoenix spun and kicked out, a hoof skimming over the chestnuts hip, a sharp bite from the stallion caused pheonix to jump away ears pinned, the sting over the new graze irritating but with a huff, he grazed just to the side of his brother.

CHAI !! sorrel chestnut, three socks and blaze, 16"3 thoroughbred x warmblood

I mare II seven years III heat: pregnant IV band: none V foals: none
      TAGGED. ---

the heavily pregnant chestnut mare slowly made her way down to the creek, at such a young age and only her third foal, chai was quite worried about being on her own if she suddenly went into labour. what if a predator came after her? the mare's tail flicked across her side and she stopped short and gave a whisper like squeal as the unborn foal kicked in protest against her stress, apologising mentally the mare flicked her tail at the few buzzing flies and continued towards the creek, it was a fair way for a mare of her size to walk to after being hidden in the trees nearly three kilometres away, but the shallow creeks and streams running through the forests were still partly frozen, which some horses with more balance would be able to crack into, but chai became quite unbalanced during pregnancy, the unbalance was due to an injury she sustained while in the womb when a mare kicked her mother, it caused permanent bruising to the mares right hip, and sometimes during the last month of pregnancy, she often looked lame on that hind leg, without carrying the extra weight? nothing slowed this mare down. ears flicking cautiously listening to the birds in the trees, the large deer herd to her right about 800 meters away from her,a small fox and her kits mucking around in the warm spring sun and a badger walking out of his den, she wasn't to fond of badgers, they weren't exactly nice animals, but, they only became rude if one was too close, and he seemed content with her distance and left her be, getting a drink himself before returning to his den. some parts of this meadow had some snow patches, while others grass so long it passed the mares knees. with a soft nicker to her self, the mare strode through the stream onto the other side to the thick green grass and began to graze, listening to every detail around her.

DANDELION
────────────────────────────────────────────
( mare ⚛ twelve years old ⚛ heat - one ⚛ stallion -- ⚛ tags: open )
────────────────────────────────────────────

THE GRAY MARE kept her gaze forward as she moved silently through the weeded area. Dandy shook her head, trying to rid herself of the flies taking refuge under her eyes. She lowered her head, pulling up the grasses growing at her feet. The grass was covered in a morning dew and slid down her throat with ease. The mare was tired from the long travels she had endured the previous day and her legs were strained with fatigue. She hadn't understood her reasoning for moving so quickly or so suddenly, It was as if she felt a pull to head in that specific direction. She didn't regret her decision to move, there was nothing left for her in the place she used to call home. Her tail brushed against the grasses as it swatted away flies. Her head suddenly shot up with the snapping of a branch. Her nostrils flared and her ears went straight forward attentively. She stood still, a few pieces of grass still hanging from the side of her mouth. After a while of nothing happening, the mare stepped tentatively forward. The grasses parted and revealed a small rabbit. She huffed with the slightly disappointing discovery and turned her back on the creature. She moved a little ways away from the rabbit and grazed in a small covered area by a tree.

THE THOROUGHBRED MARE relaxed with her head drooped near a small river. She was concealed between the trees surrounding the bank and she deemed this a safe area for some much needed sleep. Her nap was interrupted prematurely by the loud cawing of a raven up ahead. Her ears pinned in irritation and she quickly moved away from the noise. As she trotted away, she listened to the sounds around her, trying to pinpoint any signs of danger. She was vulnerable by herself, like any other mare would be without a band stallion, and she knew that. Almost instinctively she released a high-pitched whinny, but no horse responded. She huffed and pulled up a mouthful of grass. Her tail swatted away flies and kept them at bay as she chewed the weeds in her mouth. Sunlight warmed her bay coat and highlighted her muscles hiding beneath the surface.

THE APPALOOSA was calm, her breathing steady as she chewed the grass wedged between her powerful jaw. The mare could care less about the flies hitching a ride on her or the sound of a bee buzzing around the wild daisies. She was focused on a more important mission; finding a stallion. She was trotting at a steady pace, though it wore the chestnut mare down. She hadn't been used to any kind of exercise since the times when she ran from predators daily. A few weak whinnies escaped her lips and pierced the surrounding silence. She had been a dam to a few foals before, but that was back when she was with the humans and used like a broodmare, so this heat was definitely a familiar feeling. While gliding across the empty plains, she abruptly halted. Her whole figure tensed and her ears swivelled to attention. She hadn't been expecting to see a horse, much less a stallion unless they came to find her. She flared her nostrils, trying to gain some kind of scent from the stallion lounging in the grass. Her lips parted and a whinny broke through, trying to gain the stallion's attention. She wasn't going to let her chance at survival escape so quickly.

whiskey's hooves churning up the that lay beneath him. mud and grass flew past him as his hooves dug deep into the softened grass he slid to a stop. his coat though hard to tell, was doused in flecks of mud and dirt. the scene was peaceful, there were no other bachelors to spar and no mares to snake. which he didn't like, he was a colt. he loved sparring with the other bachelors, snaking mares was a bonus to him considering kodak got mating rights. besides not many mares wanted to be covered by a colt that was still very immature. he was sired by a great stallion but he didn't act like it, still kicking up dust as he was shortly after being born all he did was kick up dust. he got himself into a lot of trouble then and even now, somehow and some reason kodak is always there to bail him out. the one time he couldn't was when he got chased out of the herd for trying to mate with his father's mares. speaking of kodak as he trotted up to his older brother and as usual his brother seemed content with how quiet their surroundings were. not caring to bother his brother's serenity he lowered his head scanning his muzzle across the grass to graze.

he began getting annoyed at the flies as his tail whished side to side wacking at whichever flies where brave enough. before long his attention was caught by a mare, sporting a darker than night black coat. it's been a while since the brothers have seen a mare with a coat dark as that. his ears perked forward with interest, not before long his older brother realized the mare standing there as well. he knew he wasn't going to get a chance on covering the mare, his older brother always took the honors. his ears were thrown to the back of his head. he was going to challenge him. though he was getting ahead of himself considering they haven't even met the mare. thought his brother was ignoring him and already off towards the black mare.

kodak released a loud snort into a quiet area. he lowered his painted legs onto the ground, he watch dust fly as his body weight rested. leaning over he was now outstretched on his back, his legs flailing above him. his coat became darker as he coated himself with dirt whilst trying to reach an itch. throwing his legs to one side, he settled himself before standing straight up once more. tossing his head towards the sky and back down to his chest, he was satififised now that he got the itch that's been bothering him for awhile now. he was content with how no sounds filled the scene which he was in. that was until his younger brother trotted up to him. his ears flicked behind him as he watched the dark bay approached him. kodak wasn't interested to spar with the bay right now, and clearly his younger brother understood as he backed off to graze.

leisurely grazing around now, his eyes had been halfway closed. the grass beneath him rich and soft. though content with his surroundings and peace and quiet, he had begun to wonder if maybe he and his brother were in their own world now. though as if his thoughts were shouted out loud his ears perked forward as he heard his brother making fast movements while nickering. raising his head, his dark eyes caught sight of a mare with a coat seemingly true black. ignoring his brother he trotted past him and straight towards the black beauty. his head pressed against his chest as his tail was carried in the wind. stopping shortly in fron of the mare he tossed his head up, before taking another step forward. his muzzle outstretched in the mare direction.

nihna's spotted coat was tipped with mud on the ends of each hair. each step she took was carefully placed, she could feel the grass as it skimmed along her belly. lifting her nose towards the sky, taking in every scent that surrounded her. the sweet scent of water tickled her nose, she wanted to trust her sense of smell. her throat a bit parched, she went for it. every few seconds rechecking the scent to make sure she headed the correct way. she was a bit jumpy, ever since her older guide mare had passed from age she had no one to help guide her, to help her stay alive. she picked up her pace slightly, her mind set on the thought hoping no predators were nearby. a fearful whinny escaped her as something poked the underside of her belly. her back legs thrusted her backwards before she began taking off at a trot in hopefully the opposite way of whatever poked her. not before long the mare stumbled apon the pond she had been searching for, lowering her head the water tickled the hairs on her muzzle as she took a drink. slowly the mare stepped into the cool water, she could feel the dirt disappear from her elegant coat.

The grey mare lifted her head, slowly scanning the horizon as her little roan filly rested beside her front feet. They were so peaceful when they slept, they never made a sound, only twitched and shifted slightly as they played and frolicked in their mind's dream. Epiphany missed being so young and so worry free, the idea of being alone with a young foal scared her to some extent but her independent nature made her dread the idea of being confined within a herd. But she missed it, the comfort and security. As a long shadow cast by clouds drifted along the grassy plain, the mare couldn't help but appreciate the slightly cooler temperature that hid the warm spring sun. With temperatures rising, the ageing mare couldn't help but appreciate natures tiny presents. The mare knew they were out in the open, and perhaps it was a bad idea to let herself, as a lone mare, allow the foal to sleep in such a place but it also allowed the grey to graze on the new spring grasses. Besides, the roan filly was hid in-between clusters of needle grass, almost completely hidden by its curtain.
The day had been rather peaceful with a lack of events, she hadn't yet come across any other horses or if she had, she hadn't noticed their presence. Having a young foal meant that she didn't always find the time to observe her surroundings correctly and sometimes missed little things, for safety reasons things were done slowly and with much consideration. The mare couldn't afford to make mistakes, especially with a winter foal such as her own. It had been difficult, in the snow and cold, to have this filly without the support of a herd but she had been a loner several times and didn't mind the solitude. But now that she had Lilith, things were different. She would consider joining a stallion.

The dun mare pinned her ears against her skull and quickly nipped her colt on his shoulder, she wasn't afraid to let him know that she was not impressed with his behaviour and didn't think twice about disciplining him. Anzac appeared to take after his sire and she knew that. Although she had weaned him off of her milk as soon as she could, the mare felt that he was far too young to be off on his own and allowed him to stay under her protection but kept him under control, she didn't allow nor tolerate his play fighting and would swiftly put him into his place if he got out of hand. Held together by her motherly instinct, Lyric loved her little dun colt but was getting ready to send him off as he matured quickly, perhaps quicker than the foals she had raised before him.
After letting the colt know that she wasn't impressed with his games, Lyric began to make her way towards the nearest stream. She hadn't had a drink in days, and although the warm temperatures put her in no danger, she desired a drink. Perhaps there would be other horses there too, even other foals for her own colt to play with. Again, she loved her colt but he was exhausting and she was starting to get tired of his behaviour.

The young colt, in an array of bucking and rearing, made an attempt to entice his dam to join in on his fun and games. He was bored, very bored and wanted something to do. Although he was maturing at a quicker rate than most colts his age, there was still a part of him that wanted to play and muck around with and without any other colts around her, his adoring mother would do. Anzac squealed, kicking out sideways as he felt the sting of his mothers nip of his neck, obviously unimpressed with her disciplinary measures he strayed from her and turned his attention to his surroundings. Besides, the small lizard that sun-baked on a nearby rock was surely more interesting than his boring old mother. He wasn't sure what the creature was and snorted when it stepped towards him, flicking his ears back and forth before stretching his nose out, barely touching the creature before jumping back. It felt...weird. It was new and different but exciting at the same time, and after deciding that the lizard surely wasn't as spooky as he first assumed. Anzac approached it again, this time with confidence. He stepped boldly, pawing the ground before moving his head towards it with the intent of nipping the unfazed lizard. It scattered with such speed that Anzac was taken back and glanced over at his mother for comfort before realising that she had began to walk off. This prompted the colt and spin on his hind quarters and canter after her, and then ahead of her.

Odin pawed the ground impatiently, sending gravel flying behind him as he threw his head and allowed his eyes to drift into their sockets. He was impatient; with a confident, adventurous spirit the red stallion had found himself on a rocky outcrop that overlooked a slopping valley and from what he could see, there wasn't a mare in sight. In his prime and in the best condition he had ever been, the muscular stallion turned away and picked his way down the rocky escarpment with little care. Although he had been lucky so far in not being seriously injured, Odin was rather carefree and didn't bother about taking care of himself unless he was in some kind of fight. In the case of a rocky slope, he lifted his body over small boulders without a care in the world. He felt invincible; untouchable, like he was on top of the food chain and nobody could take him down. He had been in possession of a small band of mares in the past and sired a small croup of foals but he had lost his mob to a larger, more experienced stallion. This time, when he got his mares he wasn't planning on letting them go.
