    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Citadel watched as the stallion seemingly rose from the grasses, she watched curiously as his head swayed for only a few seconds before he looked her way, was he hard of sight? The thought came quickly into her mind- not with negativity or apprehension but rather curiosity. Citadel's first born foal had been born entirely blind, at the time she was a snippy young mare, one who thought you needed to have all of your senses to thrive but her young filly had proven her to be sourly wrong. That single foal taught her more about life than anything else could have, she was sure in her old age that she had been given the blind foal so she could grow to be less vain, indeed it had worked. She stood quietly as he walked, munching happily on the cantaloupe, which she had decided was her favorite thing. He approached slowly which she knew from experience took control given her previous antics of spreading the scent of her heat around like it were nothing. Her old stallion, even in his age, lacked control of himself when a mare came into estrus. Even very early on in their heats he would pursue and cover them throughout the day.

The grizzled nicker her offered her had her smile softly and she returned one of her own, albeit it was more delicate and soft. She lowered her head once more, taking another bite out of the cantaloupe and for a moment she enjoyed the silent company, sure they weren't touching or even prancing like yearlings but equines were social animals, the very presence of another horse had made her happy. Upon taking her bite of the cataloupe she nudged it towards him, casting a glance around at several other melons that laid tucked away from sight unless you were deliberately looking for them. She had decided already that she liked this stallion, he wasn't putting on a show, rushing her with dominance and trying to snake her, nor was he trying to mount her upon first meeting. No he seemed to move deliberately and with fore-thought- which meant not only was he smart but he was experienced. She wasn't some willy nilly yearling now, she was a mare in her prime, ripe with knowledge. If she was going to join a stallion's band or herd again and even be covered by one it would be a stallion that was her of her choosing, one she could get along with. His words had her nod in agreement and she finished her mouthful of the sweet fruit hers perking, "It is a glorious day isn't it?" She said, her voice was mellow and friendly, "Nothing quite beats finding company and a new fruit, does it?" She added on the last bit, giving an amused whuff before she reached out towards him, she was able to reach his cheek and she let her velveteen lips wobble against his face in a warm and gentle welcome. There were many purposes behind the action, it was a test. Some stallions would take the touch as her welcoming them to cover her, which she wasnt. She however used it for more purposes than just that, it might be able to tell her if her assumptions of him being hard of sight or even blind were true. Her filly had always reacted well to touch and she was curious if he would do the same. However she was also taking in his scent as she did so, familiarizing herself with it.

She pulled her head away from him now, "My name is Citadel- what might yours be?" She spoke softly, lowering her head to nibble on the the cantaloupe once more. Her actions spoke that she was comfortable with his presence- that she wasn't going to bolt away from him.

𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐘━━ twelve y/o stallion
mares: piper . no foals . w/ piper, sparrow & pergerine . no mentions

Before this new mare had even come into full view her deep bellowed warning rang clear as day in his ears. Gently he brushed his nose against Piper. Gaining a new mare was always an exciting prospect worth pursuing but not when it risked one of the lives of his own mares. He wanted to be clear that they both were to heed the mother's warning. The courting game with this one, as it was with all mothers would have to be slow and delicate, a dance if you will. If one of them stepped the wrong way there'd be hell to pay. But if every step and dip was well executed and precise than Whiskey may very well come away with a new mare, and a foal. At the mare's warning Whiskey stopped immediately and allowed himself to now be on display, his head pulled upwards and his neck curved while the natural rigidity of his stand showed much of the muscle that sat beneath his coat. Right now his charm was of no use to him. He needed to prove himself a strong stallion who would be capable of protecting both the mare and her foal and a sure way to do that was to show off the well muscled body he possessed.

Whiskey watched with amusement as the young filly poked her head out from beneath her mother, clearly quite brave in her own abilities. Of course this didn't last long. As soon as the young one attempted to step forward she was quickly ushered back beneath her mother's body. Though Whiskey was tolerant of other stallion's fillies he rarely bonded with them. He let them live peacefully under his protection and than shooed them away once they got to old. Nonetheless he did found this youngster rather intriguing, she seemed so young but already was so bold. His interest in the filly was quickly diminished when the mare questioned who they were. Some of her previous aggression was cleared but Whiskey still remained silent, allowing Piper to speak up first. He listened attentively to Piper's words and could sense some of her doubt at them. Straining his neck forward he lipped her neck gently in encouragement, trying to assure her that she had done well. Focusing back on this new mare he took a step forward, just a short one, before speaking. His voice remained level and calm as he spoke, "I assure you, both yourself and your foal are safe. You've nothing to worry about. Might I ask your name?"

Now close enough to do so and without worry clouding his mind Whiskey took another opportunity to survey the mare again. While similar in appearance to Piper she was clearly older and far more experienced. From the way she held herself she was clearly a capable mare who could deliver a lethal double barrel if it was deemed necessary. Surprisingly she was still plump despite the harshness of the winter, her belly still looked full and healthy while her muscle hadn't atrophied at all it seemed. Which meant she was clearly intelligent and knew the valuable spots of land. She'd be an excellent addition to his herd, that is, if he could persuade her to join.

𝐑𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐘━━ fourteen y/o mare

Royalty rolled her eyes at the stallion's comment, chuckling gently as he referred to her as being a young mare. His first comment was only followed by another charming little bit. Perhaps she was more perceptive to the stallion's charm than she previously believed. Desiring to keep her bit of control she decided that she was so open and giddy about his flirting because he was quite the impressive specimen. She was sure his offspring would be strong and worthy of dotting on. Despite her aging years Royalty had always been a very fertile mare and in her life had only ever lost one foal. Her body, even being a bit thinner than normal, was still well rounded and strong. She was no small mare and carrying foals had always been an easy task for her - with luck the mare still had two good years left before her chances of losing foals began to lower drastically and she'd be damned if what could be her last two weren't note worthy. "Well you certainly know how to make a mare feel special so I suppose it must be true," she cooed back to him softly.

As he brushed against her side to walk beside her her head turned slightly, watching him as he came closer until their sides brushed gently together with each step. This close her long tail brushed gently against his legs each time it swayed towards him, each gentle wave of the long hairs serving to spread the scent of her heat. Amusement filled her features as he introduced himself and she quietly repeated the name to herself, allowing it to roll off of her tongue as though she were tasting it. Much like the richest fruits she found she liked it, repeating it once again as she spoke, "Solomon. Hm, it seems as though we meant to find each other, my king." It was a small tease as she bumped her rump against his own. Whether he liked it or not the mare had already decided she'd be sticking around. She quite liked this one and even when she could no longer produce progeny she had a feeling he'd remain good company to her. Feeling his teeth gently nibbling her neck she laughed softly, once again bumping her rump against his.

It was at that moment that the mare's call had interrupted her moment and Royalty's natural dominance had assumed its position. At the mare's initial show of her size Royalty had remained firm in her own. She would not start the fight but she'd let it be known there would be one if the young mare chose to go that route. However, the mare shied away and relaxed herself a bit and in response a low, welcoming nicker emitted from Royalty. It was natural for the darkly colored mare to assert her place but these acts rarely meant aggression from her, had it been aggressive the mare's snort and drag of a hoof would have had Royalty charging forward and sending her away. This young mare wasn't going to challenge, she'd need a firm hand to put her in her place but Royalty had a feeling that that would be the end of it. Of course this didn't mean that Solomon knew such a thing and slight irritation bubbled up in Royalty's chest as she was told to stand back. She was used to stallions allowing her the lead at all times, nonetheless she remained where she was and quietly watched the interaction between the two. With her heat only growing stronger she'd decided it best to sit back and keep her mouth shut lest she say something out of aggravation to the other mare.

𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐄━━ twelve y/o mare

Imp's surprise was expected, Winnie wasn't very far at all into her heat and the chances of falling pregnant were slim but she had decided that while things weren't hectic with the claiming game was as good a time as any. Besides, her heat often agitated her and made her antsy, the sooner it was taken care of the better. More time for focusing on other things. (fade) Feeling his weight come off of her Winnie breathed a short sigh of relief. She had expected him to keep his distance initially, any smart stallion would and at the very least he was smart enough to veer around her in order to avoid her back hooves. She watched from the corners of her eyes as he came up beside her before beginning to groom her. Another sigh, this one content, left the mare as she groomed him back, lipping briefly at his forelock before nuzzling his neck. It lasted only a moment when the smell of another mare distracted her.

She nudged Imp gently before motioning towards the smell, "Come, it can't just be the two of us forever." Turning her body she began traveling towards the scent. It took some time before the smell was strong enough to ensure that it wasn't a dead scent, left lingering by a horse long gone. As she came upon the gentle rise of a low hill the mare came into view a short distance away. Despite the distance Winnie could see the mare was likely around her own age, yet taller although she seemed to carry a similar build and while Winnie's own coat was a vibrant palomino this mare had a more calm buckskin coat, her dark mane and tail contrasting the lightness of her. Remaining where she stood she turned her head now to Imp, awaiting to see what the stallion might decide.

𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐀━━ four y/o mare
no stallion . no foals . heat two . w/ loretta . no mentions

Luna hadn't meant to startle the other mare and after rushing forward she was quick to hang back a bit. She wasn't the tallest mare but her stocky build meant she looked more threatening than she was and was often bigger then some other mares. Lowering her head slightly she attempted to present herself in a more friendly manner and without so much excitement
While a stallion would always be the safest choice Luna wasn't opposed to the company of another mare either, she'd be able to make a friend first. "It's nice to meet you too, do you not have a herd?" Despite still feeling sore about losing her own Luna was determined to remain optimistic and make the most of the situation. It would do her no good to mope around and be upset.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
As soon as the stallion has received her warning he came to a halt, changing his posture all together from one of a conquest to one of a show. He held his head high, arching his neck and allowing the rest of his body to fall into a rigid stance that showed all the muscle under his pelt. She could see it rippling even from here and Sparrow shamelessly looked on, she was a confident mare and was never one to shy away from flirting or even sizing a stallion up for what they could offer her. The fact that the stallion held such a muscle mass so fresh from winter had her impressed, he was either a huge stallion before winter, or just smart enough to know how to sustain himself during the harsh season. Both were positive things, his strength meant he could harbor them both safely and should she allow him to breed with her, strong foals. Sparrow was a particularly picky mare about who she allowed to court her, if they didn't look the part she would turn them away with a fight if she must and if they treated her sourly then she simply wasn't going to even entertain the idea of being in their presence. Her high standards meant she usually produced strong and healthy offspring.

Now though her attention wavered from him, the mare speaking and telling her their names. She took the moment to survey Whiskey's companion, Piper. She seemed younger than herself but she was still a capable mare, just inexperienced and not hardened yet by the world. Sparrow had been like that once, but with age came confidence and in her case a sense of dominance. She didn't domineer over mares younger and weaker than her purely for the power but because she was knowledgeable, often times more capable, and she had a natural inclination to take up a leadership role. She flicked her ears towards Piper, a sign she wasn't wary of the mare. Sparrow had always been able to get along well with mares, particularly ones younger than her but that just came with the territory of being older. For a moment she looked away from the duo and to Peregrine who stood beside her flank, clearly disgruntled at the reprimand she had received only moments ago. The filly stomped a hoof down into the ground, giving a petulant snort and pinning her ears- a full blown temper tantrum. Sparrow merely rolled her eyes but thought back to how the stallion reacted to Peregrine's abrupt introduction. He didn't strike a hoof at her or even pin his ears, no...he looked to be amused with her foal's antics and she could feel her unease with his presence ebb away. The damned stallion was playing her game, and incredibly well too.

Looking on as Whiskey reassured his companion and took a step forward she watched him cautiously, shifting so that her body guarded Peregrine's now. She was standing at an angle now, her ears were perked towards him, letting him come closer without a protest of striking of a hoof into the ground. She was curious now, like a fish on the line- all he had to do now was hook her and reel her in. She squinted only barely as he spoke, his voice was level and calm and she raised her head only slightly- the purple patch on her bottom lip from the smorgasbord of berries she was eating only moments prior peaking out now. It was previously hidden in the shadows but it's not like she much cared, or knew, that it was there. She watched him look her up and down, and she let him- she had nothing to hide and nothing that she was ashamed of. Not even the dark and angry scars on her hind legs. Deciding to indulge in him, her own curiosity getting the best of her, she spoke. "I'm Sparrow, and this is my daughter Peregrine." Her tone was even and smooth, and she turned, looking to her filly who was tucked closely to her side. While Sparrow's tone may have made it sound like she was content with his presence she still wanted to test him. With that she nudged her filly forward, though within the same action her legs visibly tensed, she was ready and willing to jump to the defense of her foal in the blink of an eye should he misbehave.

Sparrow looked on as Peregrine happily obliged, the little filly had no sense of friend or foe yet- only her own bravery. The painted filly approached Whiskey boldly, shoving her muzzle up to meet his, her large opulent brown eyes gazed up at the stallion and one could almost see the curiosity that sparkled in them. The stallion was taller than her mother, and much taller than herself which earned him an excited squeal from the filly and she pranced around him, stopping at his side and peering at his belly with a mix of curiosity and mischief. Peregrine was able to fit under her dam's belly, the top of her wither's just touching the curve of Sparrow's stomach- yet this horse was taller than her mother and it forced the filly to wonder, could she fit under him without touching at all? The aspect excited her and she pranced for a few moments before walking under him, she was indeed correct- her withers hadn't touched his sensitive underside and it seemed to thrill her as she let out another squeal, looking past the grey stallion to the mare behind him. Peregrine tossed her head at the mare curiously, all of these horses smelled so different from she and her mother. Did all horses smell differently? Were there more horses besides just the four of them here? Why was she so small compare to them? All the questions bounced in her head and she let out a whinny- the excitement from meeting new friends being expressed in the only way it could be. With that she made her way back towards her mother, walking far too fast for her still new legs Peregrine toppled over into a heap of tangled legs but she sprung upwards quickly, embarrassment flooding her as she scurried underneath Sparrow. With her butt now facing Whiskey and Piper she let out a huff of distress and annoyance, and Sparrow merely whickered with amusement, bending her head down to give several reassuring licks to Peregrine's rump that was squeezed between her front legs.

As Eve travelled through the plains, the smell of winter fleeing was rich in the air. Her hooves lightly graced the ground, uncovering rich brown that matched her own pelt. Her flaxen tail and mane stood out richly amongst her body, and she walked elegantly, almost like a wraith. With the perfume of a heat entering the fourth stage, the horse's Arabian features stood out greatly, a chiseled face, lean muscles, a pronounced barrel. And yet, she was sturdier too, larger, with the blood of the brumby. Her eyes held the memory of some other time, some other place whilst she actively scouted for available stallions, a dream and a reality all at once. It hadn't been too long since she lost her colt, and she still felt slightly burdened by the loss, putting a slight drag in her tail when she swept it about her, a silent calling card. She did not call out. She never did. She disliked commotion, and those who would want to come simply would. She was quite near other horses, she could smell and hear them, after all. The more observant ones would pick up her scent and take it. If not, their loss. Lowering her head to graze, her ears poised so straight they looked as if they might break, staying painfully alert, Eve grazed.

Not quite sure what to do, Snow grazed, just trying to eat as much as she could for now. She kept her eye out for any stallion that looked especially scary, trying her best not to get catch their attention whilst trying not to earn anyone's ire. When she came too close to an elder mare, making the elder lift her hoof in warning, Snow jumped back nervously, clacking her teeth in supplication.

As she did, Snow noticed a smaller body, black with white spots, traveling just as nervously. A yearling colt, from the looks of it, and all alone. Curious, Snow let out a quiet whinny of greeting, moving closer. Perhaps if they were both alone, they could band up for the time being. "Are you alone too?"

The dark mare stood unfazed by Valeria's showy displays, only softening when the younger mare shied to the side to let out another welcoming nicker. Valeria whinnied back, but pranced a little on the spot, her need for company warring with her need to be unrestrained at all times. Unsure, her ears flicked back and forth, before she let out another whinny, prancing along the imaginary line Royalty had set.

In the end it was the stallion that broke the impasse, moving forward. As he stepped in front of the darker mare, Valeria thought she saw the darker mare's ears twitch, possibly out of irritation, but she stayed. Now curious, Valeria focused on the stallion as he spoke, noting how he introduced the both of them and bobbing her head in response. A herd, then. Though their interactions between each other didn't speak of habit, it was clear there was affection held between the two of them, so maybe they were newly formed. "I'm Northern Cavalry, but Valeria is fine."

Valeria contemplated throwing a little snark at the stallion-she greatly doubted that the two of them were 'delighted', not many were all that happy to meet a troublemaker like her- but instead regarded him carefully. Now more than a little interested, her curiosity broke the tie and she moved closer, lowering her head as she approached in a grudging show of respect. There was more than enough time to test boundaries later, even if Royalty seemed pretty set. Coming closer, she slowed, before stretching her neck and reaching out, offering to exchange scents.

At her confirmation that they weren't being pursued, Nox relaxed slightly, turning his attention fully on the two before him. The more forward of the two mares seemed more open and free, whilst the chestnut seemed more wary, letting out a snort before moving slightly closer. However, it was abundantly clear that the movement was motivated by the desire to provide support to her friend than to get closer to him. It was understandable, given how stallions usually were in this season.

The paint smiled at his reaction, amused, and Nox couldn't help but smile as well, letting out a welcoming nicker. Her happiness was infectious, and he felt his own frame relax a little, though he made sure to make no sudden movements. The chestnut mare seemed like the type to flee first and ask questions later, and he meant them no harm. As she apologised, he shook his head mildly. "No need to apologise. There's much worse things in the world than almost bumping into a pretty mare." Where other stallions may have said it in a flirty tone or given the mare before them a teasing wink, Nox delivered the line matter-of-factly, his tone smooth and quiet.

Nox wasn't really all that much of a talker, and he never had been all that great with flirting, but he said things as they meant them. Both the mares were stunning and they brimmed with youth and the promise of life. In fact, being around the paint mare made the experienced stallion feel like running with her, senseless as it was. They would definitely be great foundations to his herd, but he didn't want them to think that they couldn't say no, especially from the way the mare at the back was sizing him up.

Whilst it was a sensible reaction, Nox knew that there would be no threat from him, though whether they believed it or not was another issue. All the same, he didn't want to leave her there constantly evaluating whether she should run if he could help it. That wouldn't exactly feel like relaxing company. Lifting his head to look at her but not moving closer so she wouldn't feel threatened, he decided to just say it outright. "I would like to start a herd anew with the two of you, but I will let you leave if you decide you don't want the same. Right now, I'm happy to have some company."

Embarrassment bloomed over the paint mare's features as she introduced himself, and Nox took a step forward, stretching out his own neck toward her, offering to exchange scents. "Don't be embarrassed, it's good to celebrate the spring as it arrives. It means you survived the winter, no matter how tough. I'm Twilight Equinox, but Nox is simpler."

Farrah hadn’t yet learned the danger of stallions, and thus, was much less afraid and wary than her chestnut friend. Ramona was but a year older than her- but that was a heavy weight when they were so young. She’d had much more experience than Farrah had, in that one year. So, of course, Farrah didn’t know better than to be happy to be with a new horse.
She did, however, like how friendly this stallion was. He seemed like he could be like herself- happy, and lively. Or perhaps he was putting on a show, to entice her into joining him. Either way, she liked that he could at least pretend to have this attitude.
Farrah blushed a bit at his compliment. It didn’t seem flirtatious, or false- it seemed genuine, matter of fact even. The paint mare felt herself growing to like this stallion more by the minute, but she felt herself stepping back towards Ramona more, in an attempt to comfort her. She was clearly anxious- and if Ramona didn’t like Nox, neither would Farrah.
As he spoke again, Farrah’s ears pricked forwards. He did, indeed, want them to join him of course- it was no surprise to Farrah. She found herself looking towards Ramona, however, to allow her to make the decision here. At his next mention of enjoying the spring, Farrah nodded a bit in agreement. He then stated his name- Nox. “It’s nice to meet you, Nox. I’m Farrah.” She moved out of the way a bit, to allow Ramona to introduce herself next.

Happiness filled Piper’s features as Whiskey reassured her. She was glad she’d done something right, at least. The young mare glanced at the mother, wondering what she would do next.
Piper watched as Whiskey and the mare had their exchanges, the mare finally introducing herself and her foal- Sparrow, And Peregrine. Piper found herself quite liking that name, Peregrine. She believed it was a type of bird or something- but wasn’t 100% sure. She’d heard the word before, somewhere, though. Piper watched as the mare allowed her filly to run off towards her onyx stallion. She was surprised, given the mare’s protective attitude before. The paint mare than noticed Sparrow’s ready to spring legs.
Piper watched with adoration as the filly run under Whiskey’s belly. She was absolutely adorable- and Whiskey seemed to be handling her surprisingly well. Piper had never had a foal of her own before- she’d carried one the last year, but it had been a stillborn. She was excited to hopefully have one the next spring, especially after watching Sparrow’s adorable filly.
She, herself, hoped for a sweet filly, rather than a curious little colt. She had a feeling colts could be a handful, especially as they got older.

Annie hobbled through a meadow, her bad leg causing her to struggle around. Her herd had left her behind when she couldn’t keep up that winter- and she was more than old enough to leave, anyways. Continuing to push herself to move forwards, despite pain in her back lower leg, Annie let out a harsh cry into the silent air. Her ears were pricked and roaming, to find any important sounds- and her eyes were intent upon what was around her. Annie was always on the lookout for danger- she could take any headstart at running away she could possibly get.
Two figures came into view in the distance, after Annie had been walking for a while, and she let out a loud neigh, calling out to them. One of them was a gorgeous grey mare, who seemed to be eating from some peculiar fruit, one the likes of which Annie doubted having seen before. That being said, though, Annie hadn’t lived for many years, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to her that she still had much to learn.
She then lifted her head from the fruit, to call out to the other horse- who was further away. He appeared to be a stallion- and an older one at that. Annie watched as he headed towards the white mare, and appeared to introduce himself.
The brown mare decided to keep her distance, and let the two horses greet each other, before barging in. She let out a huff, and lowered her head into the dewy spring grass, letting the soft spring sunlight cover her coat. The limp mare hoped this would be where she would find her herd- after all, she needed protection, as the winter months would return sooner than she realized.

Majesty’s ears flicked back, hearing the scrabbling of hooves on stone. She let out a soft huff, and turned her head quickly to watch a bay stallion work his way towards her. Majesty wasn’t an overly protective mother- but she wasn’t going to take any chances. She quickly pushed Royal under her belly, and watched as he picked his way towards her, before stopping with more than enough distance between them and letting out a nicker.
Majesty was, of course, in search of a herd- but a stallion, especially a bachelor, was not the best option for her and her foal. He seemed relaxed, though- and had a calm posture. Perhaps he would be alright. She pinned her ears back a bit, but not all the way to the back of her head, tentative about the whole situation. She took a few steps backwards, pushing Royal along with her. The appaloosa mare let out a shy nicker in return to the stallion’s, but gave a flick of her tail afterwards, showing her unsureness and worry. She hadn’t ever seen it happen herself, but she’d heard the stories, of the mares who’d lost their foals to viscious bachelors.
This stallion, however, seemed rather friendly- and Majesty would take a chance on him. She let out another, more sure, nicker this time, and watched the stallion closely. If he showed any signs of aggression, no matter how minute- he would get a kick to the chest, and a good helping of nips, as well as losing any bit of her trust.

Genevieve snorted, her ears laying flat against her head, both as clear signs of her annoyance with the present situation. She continued grazing placidly, snapping her head up when the large mare, Solstice, moved towards her. She glared at the gypsy vanner, whilst swishing her tail a bit. Her ear that was closer to the mare pricked forwards, whilst her other ivory colored ear stayed pinned to her head. The mare began to speak, and Genevieve felt anger bubbling up. Attitude? Genevieve supressed her emotions, instead deciding to attempt, at least, at peace making. The grey-splotched mare flicked her tail, and nickered softly, “I’m sorry, if I had an attitude- but you can’t expect me not to be riled up when a stallion has that much immaturity and disrespect, to circle a mare before exchanging scents- or anything of the like!” Genevieve considered her words, and continued, “And well, no offense, but you weren’t exactly the most kindly either.” Genevieve was a bit smaller than the mare- being only half draft, but she was still unafraid of Solstice. Gen would be respectful of the mare- she had no desire to be in a lead position- but she wouldn’t take bullcrap from her. Genevieve swished her tail, uneasy. She hadn’t really tested this mare yet- and wasn’t sure how angry she could get. Genevieve was on edge, her focus fully on Solstice at this point. One threatening move and Gen would dodge out of the way. Hopefully, though, she hadn’t angered Solstice, and it would all be alright. The mare was sure she hadn’t accidentally said anything to offend the opposition- but you never know.

Annoyance passed over Ariah’s features as Mael stepped into their conversation, but she found herself amused by his far too early attempt at covering Estrella. Giving a friendly glance towards the mare, she moved towards the bay mare- who appeared to be a thoroughbred.
Ariah extended her snout in order to exchange scents, more than eager to meet the mare. Hopefully, Mael wouldn’t interrupt this time. The roan mare spoke, repeating her name, “I’m Ariah- if you didn’t hear before, and that’s Mael.” She added on, “You have a very beautiful coat.” Trying to form a good first impression with the mare.
Ariah was always kind to younger mares. However, if they were to decide to be a little bossier than usual- and try and be more dominant than herself, they would get a quick nip. Ariah had known many a mare to establish dominance immediately, with a nip- but she didn’t find that necessary, and personally didn’t find it to be a good way to earn respect. It earned fear and hatred perhaps- but the mares would then be hesitant to even be around her.

Trigger nodded at Imogene’s words. They were very true- winter was never an easy time, for horses and other creatures alike. Food was scarce, and the cold was harsh on their already feeble bodies.
As a harsh cry rang through the air, the paint stallion turned his head, his icy blue eyes staring into the distance. A heavily pregnant mare was making her way towards the mare.
Trigger found himself a bit annoyed that the mare as pregnant- with another stallion’s foal. If that foal happened to be a colt, he would no doubt get rid of it, immediately. A filly, however, he could probably deal with- but he would not make an effort to form a bond with her. He returned the mare’s nicker, and waited for her to reach them, as she was quite desperately making her way towards the pair. He was glad that it seemed he’d won Imogene over, just a bit- and now he’s gain another mare. However, her pregnancy still irked him, causing him to swish his tail against his rear a few times.

━━ 𝑴𝑨𝑬𝑳𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑶𝑴 | solid black stallion with four white socks.
    I. stallion II. eight years III.mustang x thoroughbred IV. ariah IV. no foals.
MENTIONS. --- TAGGED. ariah, meredith, estrella

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the stallion concluded that he would simply allow her to reach out rather than him, knowing that she seemed conflicted over it. that last thing he needed was a kick to the chest or wherever else a flying hoof would hit. while his full attention was on that of the mare in front of him, he still kept the other two without his sights. it seemed that ariah was now conversing with meredith, good, this time he would not butt in this time around, his focus now was on courting estrella enough to join ariah and himself.

her words seemed true enough, he could see how most around her age would want the feeling of protect and the security of the herd. though if she always acted so nervous around newer horses, that would probably be an issue come down the line that he was sure his older mares would hopefully pull her out of. realizing he had yet to response to her words, he finally spoke up, his voice deep and rather to the point of things, mael was not for playing strings with others, though he would entertain some teasing and games, he rarely initiated it. "well, that i can provide you should you decide to stick around estrella." the onyx stallion said, allowing his ears back to their original pricked state and letting his body somewhat relax a little. he watched her take a step forward, though he did not move from where he stood, letting her decide what it is she wanted, otherwise his attentions would turn elsewhere.

━━ 𝑨𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑻𝑰 | graying bay mare with rather short mane and tail.
    I. mare II. ten years III. lipizzan IV. heat two IV. joker. V. no foals.
    MENTIONS. --- TAGGED. joker, kip

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the mare seemed rather conflicted in her own hormones from the looks of it. it was rather amusing watching the two younger horses, though she was glad that joker had corrected himself from getting a hoof to the chest. the gray mare turned her attentions back to her stallion, awaiting his reaction now towards kip as she herself lowered her head to the ground and began to rip up the greenery around them. she would occupy herself with eating for now, then she would most likely come into the conversation should she feel the need or if joker needed her to. she did not think that kip would be an issue to her honestly, though asanti would make it known who was in charge here and among other things.

━━ 𝑹𝑨𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑨 | chestnut mare with one left front sock and a white blaze on her forehead.
    I. mare II. five years III. mustang x morgan IV. heat three IV. no stallion. V. no foals.
    MENTIONS. --- TAGGED. farrah, nox

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the young chestnut watched the two converse, knowing that the stallion was also including her even if she did not join in the conversation. her wariness was still there, despite the fact he meant them no harm and offered the ideals of a herd. it seemed like a good offer and it wasn't until farrah introduced herself and then turned the attention on her that she realized the younger mare wanted her to make the decision. ear's lowered for a slightly moment as she thought about the idea, nox seemed able to take care of himself and he did not seem immature like the stallions around their own age. there would be no reason not to take up his offer honestly, and it was the most logical.

the mare flicked her tail, spreading her rather strong scent, though not on purpose currently. she was silent, letting it draw out as she looked over the stallion and the tales of his victories or losses, she didn't know honestly. her gaze then turned to her friend, who had already seemed to have a liking for the stallion known as nox. she decided it couldn't hurt honestly, so she would accept his rather to the point offer. "and i am ramona, nox. i suppose we can stay with you." she said finally as she took a step or two forward and reached out to exchange steps with the stallion, though she had yet to relax in his presence.

━━ 𝑴𝑶𝑺𝑪𝑨𝑻𝑶 | black and white patched mare with heavy feathering on legs.
    I. mare II. nine years III.gypsy x aph IV. heat one IV. no stallion. IV. no foals.
    MENTIONS. --- TAGGED. ----

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
      filling in when accepted.

X ran through the snow, his head low, his tail flicking in the air,he was never a big fan of winter itself but loved the snow! His large hooves left deep marks in the ground, he slowly came to a halt as he spotted a rather small mare with what looked to be a colt, he let out a loud neigh, quickly lifting his head, his mane falling over his eye, he blew it off his “working” eye, he stepped forward once before stopping, not wanting to scare nor seem like a threat to the mare, his usual ash-like scent lingered around, he stepped forward once before stopping.

[hawk, kip & geode] 005.

Postby dilly » Sat Dec 01, 2018 4:55 am

h a w k

[ stallion ] [ 13 ] [ bachelor ] [tags: chai & lacey]

It was such a beautiful name! Hawk felt his mind sweep clean with the satisfaction of finally knowing this simple fact; and even as he enjoyed it, he knew it was silly. Every time, and every mare, felt like a completely new experience. The riddling, the pleasant exchanges, and even the rejections, as he had known his fair share. But this mare hadn’t retreated from him, and he lifted his head proudly once he had her name, and once he was invited to share his own. “I’m Hawk, and you’ve made me a happy horse, Chai,” he replied, another nicker escaping him as he realized that she was indeed going to exchange breath with him. Whuffing the scent happily, he was perfectly content to stand and bask before he felt her lips on his neck. Renewed excitement thrummed through his veins, and he took a careful step forward, making a very focused effort to remain relaxed, and stole a nibble at the base of her mane before she returned to the grass.

And for as satisfied as he felt with the situation, Hawk was no fool and was not going to miss a two-for-one opportunity. Lifting his head and flicking his ears towards the mare who had not yet made a move to intervene, he took a moment to weigh his options. Approach her and hope to seal his success with two, or remain where he was and hope he could hold onto one? The answer was obvious, of course. Taking a slow couple of steps towards her, he kept his ears forward and friendly, eyes watchful for a flicking tail or pinned ears. And, stallion that he was, he found it within himself to wax a bit more poetry. “How much happier I would be, though, to know the names of both beautiful mares before me.”

And so she hadn’t been wrong – there were two horses approaching her. A mare, who seemed to be holding back, and a stallion, and he was the one who captured her interest completely as he trotted closer. A stunning trot, with his legs held so high, and Kip found herself letting forth another cheerful whinny. Watching the light catch on his silver mane, and the way his muscles moved beneath that shining coat, she offered a fascinated nicker, for a moment not even realizing how close he really was. And then his nose was reaching for her tail, and her nicker broke into a high-pitched squeal. Hiking up her back leg, she dropped her head and pinned her ears, but then, as always seemed to be the case when her heat was strong, she ducked her rump in to brush against his chest.

Ears forward again, and eyes bright with a wild mix of excitement, anticipation and fear, she skittered a few steps away and turned to look at him. No matter the number of times she had experienced it now, her heat always seemed to be a whirlpool of conflicting emotions. The presence of a stallion lifted her spirits, while the awareness of another mare nearby was bound to escalate her own mare-ish tendencies. Blended in with this was the old, familiar fear that she would somehow, after all, still end up alone; all of this was now contrasted against her sudden hope that the horses before her would allow her to stay. She could feel her heart flittering away in her chest again, and she kept her tail lifted as she studied the stallion.

“I forgive yours if you forgive mine,” she suggested sheepishly, although it was heartening to see that she wasn’t the only nervous one. Taking a tentative step forward, she glanced towards the nearby mare before letting her focus rest fully on the handsome stallion. “I’m quite happy to see you, I was alone for so long,” she began to explain, the fear still fresh in her voice.

[ stallion ] [ 17 ] [ bachelor ] [tags: citadel]

Regardless of his years, and the countless horses he had come into contact with, gentle kindness still had quite an impact on him. Especially in his later years, as his vision continued to leave him and his muscles felt to be disappearing day by day. It wasn’t easy to admit that he could not necessarily hold how own anymore; a strong, young stallion could dominate him without struggle, he knew. There were many who would take advantage of this, and many who had. He had learned to be wary, though he could never find it in himself to be fearful. Learning to accept the downward trajectory of life was quite a sting to one’s pride. But, in much the same way that he learned to accept his own personal obstacles, he had also learned to enjoy the fleeting pleasures when they appeared before him. Such as the sweet fruit, and the sugary sweet company. How many young studs had lavished her with compliments on her beauty? Truly an irony that he was unable to appreciate it fully, but, although it would be difficult to explain, he could feel her beauty.

“A miraculous find, really,” he chuckled, fully intending to mean both the fruit and the company. Something else miraculous happened, though, and that was the tender touch of lips against his cheek. Plenty of reactions available here: when he was young, he might have felt that he could walk on air and soar through clouds with a mare’s touch. While not aggressive himself, he knew plenty of stallions who would have taken such a touch as an invitation and demanded what was theirs. What Geode felt was a deep, spreading fulfillment – like stepping into cool water after a sweltering day. It relaxed his weary muscles and aching joints, and his ears swung in a loose, appreciative way, eyes closing again. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Citadel,” he responded, knowing it was quite an understatement. What a lovely mare. “I’m called Geode.”

Taking a step closer, already more than happy to follow wherever she might lead, he let his nose lower and find the cantaloupe, lipping at the soft, sweet flesh. Watching the shifting haze of color on the grass before him, he lifted his head slowly before speaking again. "How is it that you are out here without any company?"

[ run wild ! ] Citadel 003.

Postby na'vi. » Sat Dec 01, 2018 5:55 am

━━━ ❝ 𝘊𝘐𝘛𝘈𝘋𝘌𝘓 ❞

━━ i. mare ii. 14 yrs old iii. andalusian heat. stage 3 foals. none stallion. none mood. relaxed, friendly
━━ mentions. -- tags. Geode, Annie

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The moment was idyllic, serene, and peaceful. Away from the young and headstrong stallions who flaunted their prime age and young bodies to woo mares. Away from stretching expanses of meadows that were bright green in color, only to turn gold come the summer. Instead it was a small grove, rich with new fruits, tree saplings that still stretched towards the sky, the small trickle of a nearby stream, and plenty of foliage to graze and browse on. It was a lucky find, one Citadel hadn't quite expected to come upon. She knew of the stream's presence but hadn't expected that the patch of land would be so rich with life. Now though she looked to the stallion, studying him quietly as she munched on the cantaloupe. She could tell he was older, the way grey fur peppered along his face and body, his mannerisms and how he held himself. He had experience, and while he might not be as strong as other stallions he was capable, and she knew if she had to she could fend for herself. Citadel was only a little past her prime, but she was damn smart which made up for it. Though the mare knew that in a few years her body likely begin to fail too, it seemed once you could no longer reliably produce progeny that nature didn't care for you, but her intelligence wouldn't begin to waste away from many many years. Her purpose once she couldn't provide healthy offspring would be to guide a herd to nutrient dense parts of the land, relying on the strength of the herd to keep their matriarch safe.

With a soft snort she pushed the thoughts away, that would come in a few years. His agreeing statement caused the softest of smiles to curl up at the edges of her muzzle. Her findings truly had been miraculous, or were they part of a much bigger plan? Citadel wouldn't have stayed in this grove long if not for the abundance of food, if she had left earlier would she not have met this stallion? Would she already be caught up with another? The possibilities were endless. Now though his reaction to her touch had her attention- he seemed to revel in it, his ears swinging loosely and she could see him physically relax. It proved her assumption correct, though if he was entirely blind or just partially she didn't know but she thought it rude to ask, so she wouldn't. It wasn't moments after his reaction that he spoke his name, Geode. Citadel quite liked it, it had a rough and rustic feel about it. "Like wise to meeting you Geode." She spoke finally, having finished her own mouthful of the melon and referring to his previous statement of it being a pleasure. Citadel had already decided that she'd linger around him, his calm demeanor was something she quite liked about him and his age spoke to a wisdom and experience that would prove to be valuable. She lowered her head, ripping up some of the grass that laid beside the cantaloupe and lifting her head lazily, the shoots sticking out of either side of her muzzle. Her reply to his new question wasn't immediate as she stood in thought before reply, deciding honesty would serve well. "My own stallion fell victim to a cougar eight seasons ago (2 years). Everyone scattered after the attack, all of us going our separate ways with our foals. I've been on my own since, not quite taking to any of the pushy stallions that linger around the meadows." Her words came softly but her voice was laced with resolve, the loss of her stallion wasn't something that hurt her in any way- she never truly bonded with him. However she looked at Geode and flicked her ear lazily, "I've been here since late winter, I suppose I liked the tranquility of it all." It was the truth, it was serene in the grove. Tucked away for the most part unless you were looking for seclusion. "However I must be honest with you Geode, I'm enjoying your company after spending eight seasons alone." Her last statement was light with amusement, a whuff of air coming from her before she snapped her head upwards, her ears perking atop her head in the direction of another neigh.

Citadel's first thought was that one of the aforementioned pushy stallions had been lured in by the scent of her heat. It made her stomach tighten with anxiety, she knew that Geode likely wouldn't be able to win her in a fight and in that case she would simply run like she always did, Citadel wasn't a trophy to be fought for but rather earned which thus far the older stallion to her side had done. Now though the mare took a step forward towards the direction of the neigh and lashed her tail once, her nostrils flaring as they brought in lungs full of air. The scent read something other than a stallion, a mare, a young one at that and she settled. Looking back to Geode curiously- did he have other mares already? No. That mustn't be one of his mares, she would have been able to see her earlier. With that Citadel returned the neigh, beckoning the mare over like she did to Geode. Suddenly their little grove was full of life. Turning her head to the side she nudged Geode's shoulder, giving him a slight squeal of curiosity. She wanted to meet this mare, but all the same she felt slight disappointment that her one on one time with the stallion had been interrupted- granted she could have easily ignored the young mare now in their presence but that wasn't like her. It wasn't like the stallion would vanish into thin air if she looked away.

[ run wild ! ] nefertiti 002.

━━━ ❝ 𝘕𝘌𝘍𝘌𝘙𝘛𝘐𝘛𝘐 ❞

━━ i. mare ii. 12 yrs old iii. Quarter Horse heat. pregnant foals. several stallion. none mood. nervous, distrusting
━━ mentions. -- tags. Trigger, Imogene

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The returned nicker of both the mare and was one that gave Nefertiti further misinformation- her overly hopeful and devoted mind assuming the duo were from her old herd. The closer she came to the duo the more she could make out their pelt colors and builds. The mare was smaller then herself with a dappled grey coat, though her stiffness could read one of two things- fear or challenge. Fear could be easily smoothed over but in her age Nefertiti wasn't going to let some young mare challenge her. Granted she was sure her advancement on the pair seemed desperate it wasn't for their company- she was desperate to find her stallion. Speaking of which she shifted her glance to the stallion now, skidding to a half as his cold blue eyes looked her over. Blue eyes. Nox didn't have blue eyes. Immediately her belly tightened with worry. If she weren't so closely bonded to her prior stallion and so heavily pregnant with his offspring she would have looked at the handsome painted stallion before her in a different light, but now she felt distrust and fear bubble up in her throat.

Nefertiti had no way of knowing if the foal that she was carrying was a colt or a filly, she had her own thoughts about it. Most of Nefertiti's foals had been colts and they carried different from fillies, this one carried like a colt. Low and heavy, putting strain on her back. She knew that if she labored a colt the stallion before her would rid of it when she was either too weak to protect it or when she wasn't watching over her foal like a hawk. It was cruel to do but it was done often to shove mares into their heat, and to eliminate genetic competition. Now she stood several lengths away from them, her demeanor all but changing from one of being friendly and hopeful to one of distrust and caution. The young mare wasn't part of her worries, should the pretty little grey mare misbehave a kick or two would put her in her place but Nefertiti wouldn't be able to fight off the advances of an aggressive stallion in his prime given her state. He was strong and she could tell that by the muscle that rippled under his pelt, a well aimed kick to her belly from him and it would be over. Her ears perked as he returned her nicker, though just as she went to take a step forward she watched his tail swish against his rump in clear irritation. With that she planted her hooves into the grass firmly, giving him a hearty neigh that bellowed out from her lungs and echoed in the air, with no trees around them it would could likely be heard for miles. Her action and intent with the sound was clear. A warning that if she needed to she would defend herself, despite the harsh winter she was still strong, but it was a show. The only thing currently on her side was the space between them, she would have a headstart to run if he advanced towards her aggressively.

note; i'm 100% fine with trigger being aggressive/pushy towards her ♥
