✎ Faniswa frowned, kicking dirt with her large paw. She knew that other hyenas wouldn't like to unite as one, hyenas never were the best cooperators. Hyenas are strong predators, but they aren't exactly the best at working together. She grumbled as she flopped onto the ground, her round tummy pressing against the dirt. Her ears suddenly perked as she looked up at the male. "You said close to impossible, not impossible!" she smiled, leaping to her feet. "So there's still a chance!" She swished her brush-like black tail around as she perked her large round ears in excitement. Finding positivity in any little thing was Faniswa's specialty, even if it was unrealistic.

Sade grinned as she pushed herself into a gentle lope, her muscles rippling smoothly as her paws hit with ground with solids thuds. The thought of water was all too pleasing and the scent of the pond water in the hot air made it all the more tempting. When the pond came into view, a small happy whine came up Sade's throat, her legs pumping faster as she ran. Sade reached the water after Nomsa and instead of drinking from the shore, Sade slowly waded in belly deep. She lapped at the water, enjoying the cool feeling on her tongue and running down her throat. It was silent for a while, before a loud whoop filled the air making Sade slowly lift her head with a snarl.

Desta shook his head and grinned at the sound of Swazi's growling stomach. "Sorry, got lost in thought for a second. Sounds like your hungry, have you not eaten anything as of late?" Desta lifted his head and started to scent the air once more, mongoose were ferocious as a group and there was not doubt in his mind that he was going to get bit, but he was hungry and was determined to snag a small meal for the day, just in case. "Care to hunt some ankle biters if you're feeling up to it?"

swazi considered the brute's words heavily. truth is, zi had been starving. the pariah was fed last, or sometimes not at all. the only thing that was preventing his agreement, is the heavy fact that he wasn't the best hunter. of course he had natural instincts, but he was never taught how to properly catch a meal. his self-taught strategies weren't the best but zi himself was incredibly witty. realizing he had let Desta stand in silence, he quickly blurted "S-sounds good." his ears folded to his skull in embarrassment once again, and waited he for Desta to lead the way.

nomsa chuckled as she watched the young fae submerged herself in the muddy water, contemplating if she should join the fun. lowering her head to the shore, she dipped her dry tongue into the opaque water making neat circles as she drank. "i would watch out for crocs if I was you..." she teased, water cascading off her chin as she lifted her head. a loud whoop instantly brought her out of her humorous state. the fur upon her spine pricked, as she looked over to a now snarling Sade. keeping her calm composure, and attempting not to cause further panic, she piped up: "what is that?"

Sade grit her fangs, "That is the sound of someone making a mistake way too earlier in the freakin' morning." She spat as she pulled herself out of the water and onto the shore next to Nomsa, she looked all around her, trying to spot the danger and the hyena who had cried. Sade flicked her ears as she heard the sounds of grunts and snorts along with the occasional cackle. "Want to go help or shall we just watch?" Sade rolled her eyes, hunting something big by yourself out her could be a death sentence, and apparently, someone was asking for one.

Desta nodded as the male agreed to go with him, 'Alright nose, take me to breakfast.' Desta twitched his nose before walking further into the trees, the scent of mongoose growing stronger and their noise. "Noise creatures aren't they?" He whispered over his shoulder as they grew closer to the mongooses den area. It was highly unlikely they would take the mongooses by surprise, they were smart and furious. A little kick of adrenaline for the day in Desta's mind.

Ayana quickly followed the wildebeest, in hopes of killing it. She had luckily injured the small wildebeest. She ran as fast as she could to get, she finally caught up to it and gripped onto its neck. At this point, the wildebeest couldn't do anything to save itself. Then, Ayana found herself holding a dead wildebeest. She yipped in happiness, and dragged it over back to camp.

swazi instantly pressed his damp nose to the dusty earth, swallowing the savory scent. he followed Desta's tracks closely, the irritable sound of mongoose muffled under the mound. "very." swazi whispered, eyeing the entrances of the den. their den was built like an anthill, and he figured it was home to many tunnels. he noted the two larger entrances, and he figured he could fit his face and paws in with a little digging. sometimes, being a runt was useful. "i think i'm small enough to push out a few pests through the larger entrance in the front, if you cover the back entrance." he whispered to Desta. he didn't mind the bites and scratches.

"the poor kid asked for the trouble, i say we go watch." a wicked cackle erupted from her lungs as her tail swayed lightly. nomsa had to admit, it was very against her merciful nature to stand idly by when there's trouble, but today she hadn't felt any remorse for the hyena who had thought it was a good idea to take on a wildebeest by themself. "you have to be a fool to try and hunt something three times your size by yourself." she grumbled through gritted teeth. "it's only fair we let them learn."

Sade nodded and gave her fur a small shake before speaking, "Alright then, let's follow those cries!" Sade would have been for helping the cry for help, but she was also willing not to help. It was a toss up of what kind of mood she was in and who she was helping. "Let's see, it's towards the camp, the scent anyways. Shall we look for those that were in panic?"

Desta tilted his head as he studied the mongoose fortress, he looked over his shoulder, "You sure you want to do that? It is most definitely is going to get you hurt." Desta did see that there wasn't much of a choice however, having Swazi going at the larger tunnel would be better, Desta had the stronger jaws of the pair. He sighed, "Alright then, let's do this." Desta bared his fangs slightly, the mongooses were all in their dens for the moment, but that would be changing very quickly if they did move a little more quickly. Surprise would be very helpful here in this situation.

swazi gave a curt nod to desta before slinking to the front on the mongoose hill. he lowered himself to the floor, the muffled quarrels of the rodents penetrating his eardrums. mouth watering, he could almost feel the straw-like fur of the mongoose in his teeth. his body ached for the meal. leaping toward the den entrance, he pressed his dainty paws to his muzzle, desperately digging his way into their home. it wasn't long until his face burned with deep bites and scratches, but he didn't care. his stomach pushed him farther in. finally, he was able to puncture the underbelly of a mongoose. with his back legs, he boosted himself out as fast as he could. his head was a gore-stricken sight. sticky blood clung to his petite face, spilling from the bites and scratches. the fur upon his face was a matted maroon mess, but a victory none the less. he was impressed that he was even able to catch something under the circumstances, but starvation was a crazy thing. the warm blood trickled into his nose, but was quickly cleared with a few snorts. "c- catch anything?" he spoke around the stout mongoose that hung limp in his jaws.

"i'm sure whoever we find in a panic will point us in the direction of the cries." nomsa had already began a mild trot toward the whines and snorts, eager to see who would be getting an earful from the matriarch. now why would someone begin a group hunt by themselves? the thought truly baffled her. she pushed herself into a sprint as the camp came into view. a pant had pried her jaws apart at this point, leaving her yellowing teeth exposed to the sun.

Shadow sniffed the air, she was lying in the shade and she reached out to a puddle of clear cool water at lapped at it thirstily, her spotted pelt made her almost invisible against the plain tawny coloured ground and the dark brown spots could well have seemed like fallen leaves if you didn’t look close enough, Shadow lifted her refined head and glanced around the clearing she was laying in, her tail wrapped half-way around her side and the dark tip flicked restlessly back and forward, Shadow sighed, she was bored, Shadow stood up and walked into the light her tail held confidently high and her pointed ears pricked, she lowered them as she broke into a fast trot which made a graceful transition into a slow lope, Shadow gradually picked up the pace until she was running flat-out across the smooth ground, with no undergrowth to dodge Shadow was able to move easily and when she finally came to a halt Shadow was out of breath, as she stood panting for a few minutes she realised she was lost, a herd of zebras were nearby and Shadow creeped closer, she knew she was only a pup but if she returned with a zebra nobody could deny she could hunt, Shadow hid behind a prickly thorn bush and as one zebra neared from the left Shadow pounced, for a heartbeat she was suspended in mid flight and as she fell crashing down something hit her stomach, she fell sideways blood pouring from a gash in her side, Shadow struggled to her paws, her vision blurred, Shadow staggered for a second then fell, she managed after a few more tries to stand again, she walked shakily over to the thorn bush and collapsed again, her eyes closed for a minor second and then it was darkness.
