Ruby looked down. "My family thought that I might be too possessive, and they didn't want their children to get hurt, so I was sent to the shelter..." She sighed. "I can be possessive, bit I'm really trying not to be. Hopefully if they see that I'm not possessive any more, they'll take me back home. The shelter is nice and all, but I miss my owner and the kids." Her tail slowly stopped wagging, and she dropped her head.

Silky purred louder as an attempt to cheer Ruby up. She hadn’t meant to make her upset. “I’m sure your owner will come back for you,” Silky assured her. “You’re such a friendly dog it would be impossible for them not to come back for you. And I don’t think you’re possessive. From what I know of you, you would never hurt anyone. You don’t even chase cats.” Silky hoped she’d been able to comfort Ruby. She didn’t want her new best friend to be sad. Silky often felt that sadness rubbed off on others, and she now found this to be true. Her purring caught in her throat as she remembered her previous owners, but she tried her best to continue, because she knew that it would help her friend if she did.

Noelle wandered around her cage, waiting patiently for something to happen or someone to talk to her. She hadn't been there for long, and was yearning for someone to talk to. Without doubt, Noelle was on the verge of extreme stress. Everyone else seemed to be doing something, either commuting with someone else in a cage, or somewhere else.

She saw a dog and a puppy, in cages, interacting. Noelle hadn't personally talked to anyone. She hadn't introduced herself, not had anyone else to her. She had been meaning to, and she has been there for too long to not have. As a bird, she didn't know how others would react to her attempts at friendship or introduction. She only knew one of the staff members, and she didn't even know their name. She could ask, as she could speak a bit of human language, but she didn't bother to.

Astar's ears perked sat the noise of their cage opening, an unfamiliar worker readied the harness. She gazed up at the unknown face with mild contempt, before heaving themselves upward. They knew it was just to go the play area. They hated it. Having to interact with other animals was torture. It wasn't worth making friendships, they'll all leave and she'll be stuck here.

Lazily stepping into the harness, they walked throughout the cages. Many unfamiliar faces stared back. She could feel the gaping eyes on their missing leg, but they didn't care. They strode through the corridors with a misplaced sense of authority, not meeting any gazes, before arriving at the playspace.

Astar gave a mild huff before settling down in the corner. She scanned her eyes throughout the place, scoping out new faces.

Snowball

Snowball opened his eyes groggily, wondering where he was. At first he thought
that he was still on the highway, cars zooming by his face. He leapt up, throwing
his balance off and hitting the cage door. “Ouch!” he yelped, then looked around
and saw many other dogs. He joined in the barking, not sure what to do.

Ruby lifted her head. "You really think so?" she asked, a little happier. "But, if they came back for me, them I'd have to leave you." Ruby said. She didn't want to leave her new friend, and so she decided that if her family came back for her, she wouldn't go. Her tail wagging again, she told Silky her little plan, happy once more.

The bat woke up, large ears twitching as she snuffled her way to her water bottle, drinking a bit as she listened out for anything interesting.

Diesel suddenly shot out, multiple loops of drool flying behind him as the huge hound pounced towards Silky with a savage howl of ❝ CAT! CAAATTT! ❞ (either missing her or grabbing her tail, you choose.)

Noelle/ Caique Bird/ Female/ Location; Cage/ Mood; Focused/ Tags; Astar(?), Staff

Noelle watched as a dog was walked out into the Dog Garden. It looked unwilling and unhappy to be going there. She noticed it's missing leg. She believed it bothered the animal, to have someone staring at it's only imperfection or disability. Though she knew this much, she stared at the absent leg until the Dog was out of view.

'The poor thing,' Noelle thought as the Dog walked along. She wanted to meet other animals like that. One that could use guidance; one that would accept her motherly outlook on things. She wanted to befriend or help someone who could use such. She desperately wished for someone like her, or someone so drastically different that they got along. It didn't need to be another bird, actually, she preferred it wasn't. It would be interesting.

Noelle started screeching to get out, as she wanted to see more of the Shelter. She was unaware of her boundaries, or if she had them. She wanted to meet animals around the Shelter.

Silky felt an immeasurable rush of happiness when she heard that Ruby would rather stay with her than go back to her family, who Ruby clearly cared for very much. “You know, if anyone tries to adopt me, I’ll do something that’ll put them off me,” Silky agreed. “I’d rather stay here with you than go to some random human’s home.”

Then Silky heard a sound she’d hoped never to hear again. The sound of a dog baying for her blood. “CAT! CAAATTT!” She immediately tensed, flattening herself against the grass. She puffed up her fur and began hissing at the dog. Because of her quick reactions, the dog just missed the end of her tail. She remained still, waiting for the dog to make his next move. She hoped that Ruby wouldn’t leave her because of her sudden aggression towards this dog.

Pausing momentarily, he looked around quickly, sending slobber flying everywhere including all over the cat. It finally clicked in his rather small brain and he launched another attack, flying at Silky and barking his head off, jaws clashing together as they closed on empty air/the cat.
