"hey! to be fair, it is hard to swallow sometimes if the creature hasn't shed in a while, but it adds a... well, it adds a kind of uh, pop to the aftertaste, y'know?"

"it's made almost entirely of mirrors and you can see yourself in them. it's a favorite place of mine to admire my fabulous self."

"they might look the same to you, but i've been out and about in these very streets my whole life. i've had an entire lifetime to get an understanding of them. and- oh, i was going to tell you that. we're gonna slip out of the city, the edge isn't too far from here. the forest just outside is a nice spot to catch birds and squirrels, a real challenge."

Ivy/stray/tags: Vandi, Iris

The orange and cream stray nodded at Iris’ observations, and then once more in confirmation of the other’s status. “Well, that seems good enough for a first try, and though I honestly prefer catching birds, you can decide the prey you’d like for yourself.” She informed Vandi, looking back to Iris to guess which animals she preferred catching, from her earlier statement, Ivy guessed that it was squirrels. “Well thank you for the information. We’ll try not to bother you too much if you wish to nap again-“ Ivy stoped short upon hearing the other she-cats question, her green eyes fluttering over to the housepet’s before returning to the younger cat in front of them. “I’m not opposed to it, as long as Vandi is comfortable.” she decided, sitting down and awaiting the other cat’s protest or acceptance.

Rome gave something of a snicker before dragging out a “suuuure, the aftertaste. I suppose it adds more taste too, huh?” He joked with a grin. “Still better than a housecat’ food, I guess.” He eventually concluded. At Ryu’s mention of the building that they had passed, the black and white tom’s eyes moved to it. Many appeared much different from his own house and even the ones he had seen out windows. At the other cat’s comment about the mirrored building, Rome just gave a sarcastic eye-roll. “Great, now there are two of me out here. Guess that means I get to do twice as much exploring, huh? But I wonder why the people make things like that.” The toyger continued to listen to the comments about the streets, still unsure how he would find himself around them. “I guess if you spent all your life here then you really would notice the small differences. I’d get lost in a minute though.” He chuckled, his ears peeking up at the mention of a forest. “Oh, there’s a forest around here? I’ve only heard word of them, but I’ve always thought that it would an interesting place to see.” He meowed enthusiastically. Rome’s enthusiasm was stopped short, however, at Ryu’s exclamation. Corner and bins? The feline risked a quick glance back before following the stray at his heels, slipping through the narrow spot between a brick wall and some plastic and metal bins. The former pet’s fur stood up and his back was arched when he looked back once more, wondering if the human would chase them. “Why would humans pose a threat to us?” He frowned, his tail twitching from side to side. If anything, wouldn’t the metallic cars and their honks do more damage? At least some humans would pet cats, or even feed then scraps at times.

well, i wasn't born on the streets.

but my mother was. i was born in a shelter along with my siblings. and then I ended up on the streets, i've been living here since.

ryu bolted into the small space behind the bins and turned to check up on rome. "you okay?" he asked, not giving time for him to answer, he continued. "good. what do humans do?" he cried, astonished at how little his friend knew. "humans take strays like me to stuffy, cruel shelters and housepets like you back home. and to answer your questions from earlier, people just like to admire themselves i guess. yes, there is a forest, but it's outside of the city. if you want to stay in the city though, i can take you to the park instead, but it wouldn't be as fun since there's humans everywhere."

"ah. so we don't exactly have a street veteran here, but a wanna-be."

"so why stay away from humans? is there a history or is it just a decision?"

The introverted feline tilted her head to the side, never having heard that expression before. She quickly let go of it though, and gave a small nod. “That settles it. I was going to head into the more wooded clearing on the other side of the park, unless you’ve noticed a better place today.” She informed the new party member, quickly giving a playful growl and hopping after Vandi. “A plan, though it doesn’t seem like you use many of em.” The Scottish fold laughed, hopping back to look at Iris.

Rome blinked a few times but nodded at Ryu’s question, still a bit shaken up from the encounter. The toyger flinched at the other cat’s raised voice, his ears flicking back and lowering himself to the ground a bit as he heard the stories about the humans. “They just... take you to confinement? But you guys didn’t do anything! It’s like going to jail! Back when the black and white cat was still a housepet he had seen all too many law shows with his owner, and despite all of the support the “heros” had this system really didn’t seem like it had much justice. The feline stood up again and grew more interested st the immediate talk of the forest, eagerly shaking his head at the thought of staying in the city. “No no, the forest seems wild enough. I’ve never been to such a place before.” He admitted quietly.

"yeah, they imprison us! do they seem to care that all we were doing was surviving? no! we just get taken away!" ryu spoke, a flaring passion filling his voice, his tail lashing behind him. he decided to leave out certain details, like the stories of cats never returning most times, not because he didn't think his new friend could handle it, though he wasn't sure on that, but because he wanted to get moving. "m'kay. let's get going, there's a shortcut over here." he peered out from behind the bins, and when he saw that the coast was clear, beckoned to rome. "follow me," he said, dashing out and across the alley. he hurried into a small dirt tunnel created by his fellow strays, one that lead pretty much anywhere in the city since it branched off so often, that they could travel through to reach the boundary of the city. "in here. c'mon, and keep your eyes on my tail, it's very easy to get lost in here if you don't know your way around."

Ember meowed as her owner loving pet her, then stepped out of the large building. Ember sat down quietly glancing around thinking about what she could do while she waited for Madame's return. Suddenly she felt a cool breed blow through, "that's strange? Madame didn't turn the air-conditioning on?" She spoke curiously looking around the home. Her tail flicked up as she spotted the window, "it's open!" Ember called out hopping on the sofa and then the window, she peeked down to the ally next to her home, a large black van was parked next to the window. "As long as I return Madame shouldn't mind?" Ember spoke to herself hopping onto the van her bright orange collar's bell jingled as she did so. Then proceeding to hop onto the trash can next and then onto the cold gravely ally. Ember glanced around it was such a long time ago since she was last outside when Madame took her in, Ember padded down the ally and peek her head out down a corner towards more ally's.

Tiger Rome/housecat/tags: Ryu, Ember (If that’s okay?)

Rome’s ears pinned back to his head as he heard of the humans’ actions, his tail swishing from side to side thoughtfully. “But... that’s not fair!” He pouted, getting riled up about the subject as Ryu did. In fact, just the thought of people kidnapping cats made his fur prick up angrily. His ears did prick up when a shortcut was mentioned, and at that the previous topic was lost to the wind. The toyger kept quiet and nodded when the stray told him to follow. A small mew escaped his mouth once he saw the tunnel and he eyed it warily. His eyesight was his most relied on sense, and it seemed that within the tunnel that ability would be lost. At this point not even Ryu’s advice eased him. “Are we sure that we should go that way? It’s looks pretty sketchy to me-“ The black and white tom’s fur fluffed up at the sound of a bell and something shifting above them, and spun around with a growl when whatever it was jumped. “Ryu! Did you see that?”

Ember's tail fur shot up as she heard a hiss, turning around as she saw two larger cats. "Errr h...hello!" she meowed quietly watching the two cats, her tail flicking to show she was extremely worried. She didn't know these cats let along how she would protect herself, Ember sat there beginning to think this wasn't such a good idea.

ryu nodded, his eyes sparking. "obviously." he listened for signs of anyone inside the tunnel, then noticed rome's fright. "oh, don't worry. it's fine. don't be a kitten, i've used these my whole life." he was halfway in when he heard rome's exclamation. he whipped around and followed rome's gaze to see another cat. keeping his eyes on her, he spoke as quietly as possible. "stupid, stupid, stupid! i was being loud and- rrgh!" his sentence broke with a slight growl. "i'll leave this one up to you. she seems like the incompetent housecat type, no offense. i'm sure she'd protest even more than you to go in here and she doesn't know her way, so we can quickly run through this tunnel, as long as you follow me closely. or, we can talk... I'd prefer to run, y'know."
