"is that better, mercury?" he jested.

Buck watched as around him the other dogs of the pack began rising, each greeting him before offering their own services to the patrols. He never sent the dogs of the morning pack into the crimson territory nor did he ever send them to attack. The way he saw it was as long as he kept Fantasia and her pack at bay and content in their part of the land than he didn't need to worry too much about a war. "Of course, everyone is always welcome on patrols. Kei, River, why don't you both take the east way and Obsidian and I will take the West?" It was easier to divide the length territory instead of all four walking it together. Besides, they were all capable fighters. Heading out the door and into the light drizzle he took a moment to ensure Obsidian was behind him before continuing towards the patrol route. He didn't truthfully expect to find anything but this had been habit for so long and it gave him peace of mind so day after day he continued the ritual. After a few minutes of silenced walking he turned to look at Obsidian, "Things are unusually quiet these days, don't you think? There's been nothing from the Crimson pack, not even so much as a claw over the territory line." It did worry him slightly. Perhaps they were planning something?

Whiskey watched as around her the other dogs emerged and began their day, particularly Rawhide who was currently rolling in the mud while the others laughed at his foolishness. The thick coated collie rolled her eyes and dragged herself out of the sitting position. She had no interest in watching this go down and began walking towards the exit of the junkyard. Squeezing herself through one of the holes in the fence the female ventured out further into the territory. She often found she didn't quite fit in with the pack dogs. They were either rambunctious or aggressive and she didn't exactly fit into either category. Nonetheless she found the life to actually be interesting, constantly filled with battles and drama. She'd be fine so long as she never met a dog bigger than her who was capable of besting her. She walked for several moments before an unfamiliar smell found its way to her. She stopped abruptly, sniffing the air before following the scent. She stopped once the smell was strong enough for her to know whatever it was, it was close. Peering beneath several of the cars she finally landed on the sight of a husky, obviously from the neighboring pack as it huddled beneath the car, "Your a long ways from home aren't you?"

    ‣ kei nodded respectully to her alpha. "yes, buck." she said before turning to the border collie. "come, river. maybe we can find something to eat on the way?" kei trotted in the opposite direction of buck and obsidian, perking her ears so that she could collect any important sounds far away. she sniffed the air, checking to see if the coast was clear before making her way.

    ‣ genesis gasped abruptly, nearly hitting her head against the car above her. she whipped her head around to see a collie speaking to her. genesis gulped, she had mere seconds to plan her next action. should she run? no, then she'd chase after her and attack. should she call for backup? no, then she would kill her. the collie was alone, perhaps she could convince her to let her go alive. she was in the rain for a while, mayhaps the smell of her pack had washed away? then she could act dumb and pretend to not be a morning dog. "yes, actually. i lost my owner." genesis finally said, trying to sound as convincing as she could.

MERCURY

male - three years & two months - crimson pack - subordinate - tags: rawhide

mercury watched rawhide with slight envy. it would be nice to be so young and carefree again instead of in constant worry for your future. he probably didn't think about things the way those older who have lived through skirmishes and war thought of things. though he was a tad bit jealous, he couldn't help but be in a good mood because of his positive energy. "i didn't mean literally try to be covered in mud!" mercury snorted, his dark brown eyes gleaming with amusement. "though i do admit, that look suits you. maybe you should always roll in mud. all the ladies will want to talk to you," he joked, his tiny stump of a tail wagging happily. he looked up to the dark sky briefly, wondering why fantasia was not yet up.

OBSIDIAN

female - four years - morning pack - subordinate - tags: buck, river, kei

obsidian nodded her head respectfully, staying silent as she listened to buck's commands. in her opinion he was a very reasonable alpha who expected only loyalty and commitment. he wasn't too demanding, but really he didn't have to be. everyone in the morning pack knew the value of respect and team work, or at least the vast majority. when he mentioned she would be going to patrol the east with him, she felt herself lighten up. it might be fun to go out with him, since she always admired him and though he was enjoyable company. "yes, alpha," she said with a bow of her head. she waved her thick tail softly as she followed the large brown dog out of the dim warehouse and into the rain. she looked up at the pale gray-blue sky with awe until a raindrop hit her in the eye. obsidian blinked and shook her head, looking at buck in front of her in embarrassment only to find out he hadn't seen it. after a few short minutes of trotting along behind him he spoke and she picked up her pace a bit until she fell into step with the alpha. "yes, crimson pack hasn't started any trouble in quite some time. it is a bit suspicious, but i suppose it is far better this way," obsidian said thoughtfully. "you do such a good job making sure there are regular patrols, so i'm sure we are keeping a close eye on them. if they so much as step paw over the territory line we will know," she added to reassure him.

    ‣ rawhide chuckled as he looked into the blurry reflection of a puddle to his right. "wow, you think?" he jested as he cocked his head, some mud falling onto his muzzle. "you even think miss fantasy would fall for me?" he chuckled. 'miss fantasy' was a nickname he had for his alpha, of course he'd never let her hear him call her that.

    FANTASIA
alpha of crimson | female | mutt | tag: whiskey, genesis

gray. it was all gray. different variations, from the darkest black to the brightest white. surely her eyes are not deceiving her. was she even awake? she was choking. on her back, thrashing her head to-and-fro, while snapping her dingy teeth together. was this real? the massive beast rolled over, with a cough, she spat crimson. she felt better after that, but she still couldn't tell if all this was happening or if she were just in a bad dream... she ran, into what looked like an open field, but quickly she stood corrected as she hit a hard wall. the wall of her 'den.' she thrashed again, snarling as she tumbled to the ground like an immature, still developing puppy. she gasped, orbs the color of chardonnay widened she 'woke' to the real world. it finally occurred to her that it was a hallucination, they began to happen more frequently in the past year. it greatly bothered her, but, didn't everything?

the alphaess of crimson finally regained her stance, and once the pounding of her head began to subside, she headed for the exit of her den. it was already morning, maybe even early noon. she didn't quite know. it was unlike fantasia to sleep late; sometimes she didn't even sleep at all. she was not that old, 'least not in her own opinion, but others would probably believe that her age played a significant effect on her health. she still looked like a young dog; with waxen white and khaki underfur. and chocolate and liver overcoat, with maybe even a bit of black here and there. maybe her paws and muzzle were a little whiter than average... but if even she didn't notice it, she didn't expect anyone else to take notice.

as fantasia pads outside of her den, she notices that most of her pack members are already up, and naturally, she assumes that everyone is doing... well, just whatever the hell they want. that also bothered her much - she didn't think she needed to spit out orders every morning, everyone should have known what their job was and that they were to assume it as soon as they wake up. unfortunately, that was not always the case. which is probably why she was yelling and raising hell almost every day, yet, her pack still didn't seem to understand.

her head hung low, yet nose pointed out in front of her and eyes locked down the center of the street. bright yellow orbs stood out from her darker face, accented with different shades of brown. the alphaess then pushes herself upward onto the hood of an old rusty car that had somehow ended up in the street. she used this for meetings mostly, as it was on her side of the territory. fantasia steps up to the roof of the vehicle and peers off in the direction she just walked. the alphaess lifts her head high, high above her bulking shoulders, and from here she could see a vast range... she saw rawhide, one of her subs playing in the mud and plenty of others watching him. she rolled her eyes at the brute, but just as she was about to step down and talk to him, she noticed whiskey out of the corner of her vision. she was quite a distance away, but she knew it was. she didn't know who the dog whiskey was talking to, however. fantasia's lips curled upward, and brow furrowed. swiftly would she jump down from her position and haul butt over cars and rocks to make her way down to whiskey and this strange dog... an intruder?

quickly the massive beast of a dog landed on top of another car roof - a loud thud emitting when her paws hit the metal. she snarled, ears pushed forward atop her cranium and chardonnay orbs glaring at the siberian husky. she let out a deep bark, threatening the dog that clearly didn't belong to the crimson pack. "i'd best see that tail of yours leave this territory otherwise you'll be leaving without one entirely,"

Zahara sat silently, watching her packmates mill about while her thick coat of fur dried out slowly. She took in a deep breath, relaxing slightly before a sudden scent assaulted her nose and her golden eyes snapped open. An intruder? She thought to herself alarmed. Just then the sound of her Alpha’s hostile snarl flooded her ears and she was to her paws immediately, tearing off towards the mingling scents and Fantasia’s dominant voice. Zahara slowed her pace slightly as she the scene unfolded in front of her. She noticed her leader standing atop a car looking intimidating as ever. She couldn’t help but to think that was a very typical thing for Fantasia to do. The large females eyes narrowed as she took in the sight of an unknown young Husky and her fellow pack mate Whiskey. Once she was sure Fantasia had noticed she had approached, Zahara padded over to stand beside the car, close to her Alpha. She lowered her head slightly, eyes cold and stance ready to protect her pack if she had to, though she could tell the single husky would pose no threat as long as she hadn’t brought back up. Her fur bristled slightly, feeling the tense energy coming from all surrounding her. Zahara’s Golden eyes lifted to meet Fantasia’s for just a moment before she dipped her head in respect and focused back on the scene ahead of her.

Ruca lifted her eyes to meet whoever had just spoken to her. A small smile graced her face and her eyes softened when she realized that it was Cadiz. She quite liked the male, he was one of the more friendlier ones in the pack. “Oh,” she paused, glancing away from him for a moment and clearing her throat. “Yes, Rawhide’s just over there, playing in the mud.” This time her voice came out silky and she finished with a small laugh as her eyes caught onto the sight of a covered Rawhide and Mercury sitting alongside him. Ruca pulled herself out from under the table and shook her curly pelt out before bending into a bow and stretching. “Mind if I join you?” She asked softly, tilting her head as she gazed back at the male.

River’s tail wagged and his ears perked slightly as the pretty German Shepherd adressed him. “Of course,” River said quickly, watching as the Alpha finished his orders. After a moment his amber eyes caught onto the second in command again, his paws wanting to shuffle nervously in the dirt but he held still. He found Kei not only pretty but quite intriguing and was excited to be able to patrol with her. He wanted to learn all he could from both of his leaders as he wished to be leading one day also. Silently he padded alongside her, sniffing the air before shaking out his silky pelt quickly. “Do you think we’ll run into any crimson brutes?” He jested, quickening his pace to stay next to her side.

Buck thought over the idea of the Crimson pack not doing anything as better. Yes, in a way it was. The pakc was allowed peace and time to recuperate and ensure their bellies were fed and full. At the same time it could mean their rival pack was also doing the same, gathering strength in order to plan an attack. In the end the estrela muttered a simple, I suppose so. He was encouraged by Obsidian's comforting words. At times it seemed they lacked some of the strength of the Crimson pack but with diligence and intelligence aiding them they had held their own thus far. "Thank you Obsidian. I do all I can but without all of you it'd be nearly impossible to do. I fear with this rain though that our territory markers will fade as will the Crimson pack's scent. We'll have to remark the territory as soon as the rain ends," he mentioned. Even now the smells around him were faint, barely noticeable among the droplets that pelted his coat. Buck stopped for a moment, taking the time to find what smells he could. He picked up one faintly familiar smell, Genesis. Realizing he hadn't seen her that morning he turned his head to look at Obsidian, "Do you recall seeing Genesis this morning?" They were edging dangerously close to the territory line dividing the two packs and here he found Genesis' scent to be stronger. He knew she often went for walks on her own in the morning but he had never thought she ventured this far. Beginning to move forward quickly to follow her scent Buck howled loudly for the dog's return before calling out for her, "Genesis!"

Whiskey crept slowly closer towards the other dog until she was close enough to stick her nose beneath the car and smell. The dog was lying. She wasn't some owner's pet. Whiskey of all dogs knew what that smelt like all too well. Even after being in the rain one still smelt like a human home. Food and perfumes and chemicals or perhaps even shampoo. This wasn't that smell, this was Morning pack. "We both know-" her words were cut off as the loud thud sounded in the area and immediately the collie knew it was Fantasia. It was followed by Zahara also appearing and than the leader's low threat. Whiskey backed up a step, her body still in between the fellow pack members and the other dog. She sighed gently, turning her head to look at Fantasia. Unlike many of the dogs Whiskey had never feared the mutt, she was, after all, just another dog in the streets and Whiskey had never feared anything in her life. It was her greatest strength and greatest downfall. She feared nothing. "If you two brutes would slow yourselves down for a moment," she stated boldly before continuing, "You'd realize there's an interesting opportunity here considering what we have lying here under this car is a Morning pack dog." The collie braced herself to chase after the dog, realizing that now that her secret was out she could easily turn tail and bolt. Whiskey wasn't the strongest but she was fast and agile, she could get around the city in no time so even if the dog was also quick the collie would stay right on her tail.

    ‣ kei chuckled lightly, enjoying river's spirit. "i'd hope, i'm in the mood to eat crimson dog for breakfast." she chuckled as she trotted beside the border collie. her nose was constantly surveying for anything that was out of the ordinary. she smelt come cats that would make a nice meal, but she didn't want to be distracted from her task. many scents were washed away in the rain, but her powerful nose could still pick things up. she instantly froze when she heard buck howl in the distance. "that was buck, something's wrong," she gasped. "come on, river!" she said as she whipped around, sprinting towards the direction of her alpha.

    ‣ genesis' heartbeat stopped upon hearing the voice of the one and only fantasia. she finally got to meet her, and the odds of her making it out alive have plummeted. she heard buck calling for her. her stress elevated; she was going to be saved! should she answer? no, then they would think she called backup and then kill her. "just let me go back to my pack, i won't tell them anything." she stammered as she slowly scooted backwards towards an opening.

"rawhide! clean yourself up, you'll get sick." he scolded as he trotted forward. he let out a sigh and he then placed the squirrel on the ground. "i caught you this, eat up." he sighed as he looked over at ruca and shot her a gentle smile.

MERCURY

male - three years & two months - crimson pack - subordinate - tags: rawhide, cadiz, fantasia, genesis, whiskey

mercury watched as the young dog looked into the puddle at his reflection. anybody else would hate to be covered in the thick mud that would dry to be crusty and flaky, but rawhide sure seemed to enjoy it. he sure was a one of a kind soul, or so mercury thought. he shook his head at the mention of the nickname for fantasia. "don't let fantasia hear you call her that, she wouldn't like to be disrespected in that way," he warned, growing serious for a brief moment as cadiz came over to scold rawhide for being so messy. he felt a bit bad for encouraging it, but he didn't mean harm. still, he trotted away just as he noticed his alpha rise, looking around with a look of dismay before seemingly growing very angered. he pricked his cropped ears, his eyes travelling to where fantasia's gaze was pin-pointed. there, he noticed whiskey close by a dog he didn't quite recognize. was there an intruder? were they here to cause trouble? instantly, he grew angry and stood taller, raising his head to glare down at the stranger as he watched from afar.

OBSIDIAN

female - four years - morning pack - subordinate - tags: buck, genesis

obsidian continued padding alongside buck, trying to match his pace as best as she could. as he spoke she took a deep whiff of the air around her, picking up on the faint border markings ahead. the rain weighed down her fur as they walked and she couldn't help but wish the weather would stop. "we do out best as well. team work it what makes a good pack, in my opinion." she paused, looking around for a moment before she sniffed the air again. buck was right, the markers were very faint and even if they did it again right now it would just be washed away from the rain. "alright as soon as it stops i can come back, perhaps with someone else," she offered, shaking her fur out. little droplets of water flew from her coat only to be replaced in mere seconds. obsidian didn't mind the rain, she just hated being soaked to the bone. it was pretty unflattering as well as rather uncomfortable. obsidian pricked her large, pointy ears as buck turned to speak to her. she blinked, shaking her head. she didn't recall seeing the thick-furred siberian husky this morning, not even when she woke up. she must have left pretty early in order to not have been spotted by obsidian. she was quite the early bird and was usually one of the first to rise in the mornings. "i haven't seen genesis at all come to think of it," she barked quietly, her eyes growing wider with concern for her pack mate. perhaps she had strayed too close to the border and been attacked by a patrol? she wouldn't dare go into crimson pack territory just for the thrill of it, would she? obsidian breathed in, focusing on the scent of genesis as she followed buck quickly. "you don't think she's actually in crimson territory, do you?" she asked cautiously, shortly after he howled for her.
