"I’m a recipe for entropy, I’m too overwhelming, Give me your validation, I can taste your apprehension"
🌿Username: NinjaGerbil
🌿Name: Brenin
🌿Nicknames: Brenin is actually a nickname in itself- his full name is "Brenin-Nos", which roughly translates from Welsh into "King of the Night".
🌿Age: 5 Years (About 25 in human years.)
🌿Gender: Male
🌿Species and physical description: Brenin is a melanistic Fallow Deer that stands at roughly 6 1/2 feet tall (including antlers), who is noticeably slim as while he is mature, he hasn't yet grown bulkier as most bucks eventually do. However, this doesn't necessarily mean he is weak, as under his fur lies 78kg of muscle and sinew which he is only more than happy to show off. His antlers also add to the display, measuring about 65cm and with an even larger width. His hide, being melanistic, is a sleek and smooth black that covers his entire body- in direct sunlight, it can even appear dark blue.
🌿Personality Paragraph: Perhaps seen to some as a complete show-off, Brenin is fully aware of his looks and sometimes can't help but flaunt it- the fact his mother named him "King of the Night" certainly didn't help. He strives to be the best of the best at all times, and he often changes how he behaves to best match the company he's around. This attempt to be everyone's friend can often backfire, however, as those who catch on to this game can quickly see him as two-faced and perhaps even manipulative. He cannot help it, unfortunately- his time in the limelight has driven him to be the face of perfection, and he will do anything to achieve his goals.
🌿Likes and Dislikes: Brenin is fond of the night, due to his name, but is usually more active around dusk and dawn so he can watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. He is, unsurprisingly, happiest with company, and will eagerly introduce himself to new faces if they seem friendly enough. Due to his show-off nature, he can be easily cheered up with a race or show of strength- just be sure to let him win...
There are a few things that he dislikes; while he is comfortable with being simply called "Brenin" instead of his full name, he greatly dislikes nicknames and will at first politely ask whoever called him as such to not use it. If it is used again afterwards he becomes very disgruntled and will quietly leave. He is quick to become irritated at those who beat him at something- especially if they rub it in his face -and this can escalate to him lashing out both verbally and physically. He also dislikes being too out in the open- as a prey animal, he naturally prefers areas that have somewhere to hide or simply be left alone, even though it conflicts with his desire to be adored.
🌿Fears and Calmers: Brenin is easily startled by loud noises, especially gunshots, and these along with sudden and unexpected movements will quickly send him into a fight-or-flight mode. It's usually the latter, and he will only stop once he is in a more secluded environment where he feels safe. While he always tries to be friendly to those who are friendly back, predatory animals make him very nervous and he usually keeps his distance just in case. On a more emotional level, he often worried as a wild buck that he would be rejected by does, or that he wouldn't be strong enough to win battles- it affects him even in this environment without rivals, and is the basis for his occasional showing-off. In extreme cases, this worry escalates to what can only be described as a violent panic attack- it is a long process, but he can be brought out of this with plenty of gentle, quiet talking and comfort.
🌿Orientation: Bi-Curious.
🌿Backstory/how they got here: Brenin was born in the wild on a protected reserve somewhere in Wales, where his mother raised him alongside various other does and their fawns. The herd accepted him well enough, but over time his melanism gained the attention of many humans who visited the reserve, and he quickly became a popular sight for the area. That was what brought Mr. Z's men to the reserve, with an offer to take Brenin (who was now almost fully grown) to a safe, protected area away from illegal hunters, in return for a large donation to the reserve. It was never revealed if the park agreed or not, but either way Brenin was shot with a tranquilizer dart and transferred to the menagerie.
