Having seen the whole... situation with Pheonix and Alpha, the large female continued past them to Erza. Opening her maw, she let the plump thrush fall to the ground in front of her. Frosty blues regarded her for a moment before she spoke. ”Eat. We need all of us to be healthy in order for us to work.” Then the fluffy Pyrenees would pad over to Alpha, her eyes softening in the slightest. In order to not show complete defiance of the leader, she spoke in a calm and even tone. ”I believe that if another gets to eat, they get stronger. Then they can help hunt too. Besides, I can continue hunting and take a meal for myself in a while.”

Erza's mouth dropped in surprise. "Thank you!" She bowed slightly and watched Naiya walk away. She started eating the thrush. She didn't want to finish it because she felt bad as this wasn't even her kill, but she realized everyone else was eating so she finished it.

Pheonix flinched, trying not to cower too hard and show weakness. He was right. She had to drop her housepet ways and toughen up. Phe took in a deep breath and answered her alpha's question. "I don't know, Alpha, all I know is that he helped us hunt and then he heard a howl and had to leave. Maybe there were rouges and his sister needed some muscle to drive them off. Either way, I'll grab my scouts and head off. Sir." Phe nodded a quick sharp nod and turned away to find the rest of her scouting troop. With her ego and good mood kicked into the dirt, Phe had to prove she wasn't going to be some housepet nuisance. Pheonix faced the rest of the pack to address the dogs around her. "Stella and any other scouts, you're with me. Let's move!"

Stella's ears perked up at Zaza's question. "Well, you get to the point pretty quick, huh kid?" Stella took another bite of her thrush, swallowed and then faced the pup. "Well, I was raised on the streets. So I don't know my parents very well. They went off on their own when I could fend for myself and I only saw them in passing. I had two brothers and a sister too. We tried to stay together but then Tyson, one of my brothers, got caught by twolegs and the rest of us decided it was better to go alone. I'm sure they're all still alive somewhere...or at least they were when the city was destroyed. I haven't seen any of them in a long time." Stella got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment and then remembered she was talking to someone. "It's fine now. I'm so used to being alone that I stopped looking for them."
Stella's ears flew up and her head turned when she heard Pheonix's call to the scouts. "Oh boy." Stella quickly finished her thrush and tossed the carcass back into the woods. "Sorry Zaza, the scouts gotta go work. I'll see you when I get back. Be good ok?" Stella bumped the pup's head with her nose before trotting off to meet with Pheonix.

Zaza nodded. She felt bad for Stella but didn't say anything. She saw her walking away, to go do her scouts work. "Wait!! Can I come? Please please please Stella?" She looked up at her and smiled and nuzzled her shoulder. She looked over at the other scouts, they looked nice enough. There was even a smaller dog like herself! "Hi! My name is Zaza!" She said, her tail thumping on the ground.

Pheonix looked at the pup, who embarrassingly was almost her height, and raised a brow. "Hello, My name is Pheonix. Nice to meet you Zaza." Pheonix frowned, contemplating letting a six-month-old pup come with them. While it would be a good experience for her, and she would be full grown in a season, Phe worried that Zaza could get hurt out there. The last thing she needed right now was an injured pup on her watch. But Zaza's bright eyes won her over. "Fine, you can come. BUT! You have to listen to Stella and you can't leave her side unless we run into trouble. If then, you need to get out of the way and run when I say. Deal?"

Stella looked down at her captain and her charge and tried not to laugh at their almost matching sizes. Stella was surprised that Phe let the pup come along. Sure, she seemed like a friendly, nieve housepet eager to please, but after the recent verbal smackdown by the Alpha, Stella thought she would have said no.
"I'm fine with that." Stella said when Pheonix put her in charge of Zaza. Stella got to Zaza's level and looked the pup in the eye. "Pheonix is right, you stick with me and keep up. Scouts are quick and quiet. We're not going to be catching butterflies or playing out there. Especially not near the city. Got it?"

"Deal!" Zaza said, her eyes ablaze with excitement. She saw Stella at eye level and knew she was serious. "I understand. I won't let you down." She felt a bit hurt that Stella didn't totally trust her, but she shook it off and didn't let it show. She was just happy she was able to come along. She thought about it and realized she didn't really know what they were going to be doing. She didn't say anything though because she knew she already looked like an amateur, well... she was an amateur... but she didn't want to admit it. Then she got super duper excited 'I'm gonna be a scout!!' She thought and smiled up at Stella and rested her head on her leg.

"And, if you possibly could, track and bring Kimi and Hakan back to camp? They've been gone since the hunting patrol left, and this isn't a very good start to their loyalty to the pack if they're going to be missing all the time." .:{+}:.

Hayden walked quickly around the hunting area, her somewhat loose yellow-and-green bandana from her previous life bobbing a little on her neck. Carefully sniffing the area for an animal scent, she found a plump gopher. Stealthily getting into her attack position, she crouched lower to the ground and began to stalk it. The gopher didn't notice her presence. Once she knew she was able to attack it, she lunged for the gopher. It let out a frightened screamed as it saw her, but before it could do anything else Hayden had clenched it by the neck with her teeth. Satisfied with her catch, she went back to the camp.

Little noise was made as the agile female raced around, occasionally taking in small whiffs to track them. Quickly, the source of the scents got closer, mingled with two others. She blinked owlishly in surprise, glad she’d kept downwind.
