ＷＩＬＤＥＲＮＥＳＳ

Located in a forest at the base of a mountain, two packs of stray dogs compete for resources. These packs have been on these mountains for several generations, and both packs were named after their founders, Bear and Frost. The two packs are separated by a fast-moving river that goes for miles. Bear's Pack, the pack that resides to the left of this long river, resides in the denser forest. They rely on physical strength and intimidation to fend off the many predators that lurk about, and are incredibly resourceful. They are described as savages by their rivaling pack. Frost's Pack resides to the right of this river, where the forest is less dense. Less predators are around, meaning there's less competition for food. These dogs are swift and agile, though typically not great when it comes to a fight. They're described as weaklings by their rivals. Unfortunately, these packs have been at war for quite some time. Bear's Pack have consistently been invading Frost Pack's territory and stealing prey. Some lives have even been lost in border skirmishes. Will these dogs find a way to bring peace, or will they continue to tear each other apart?

» Write at least three sentences per-reply.

» For this RP, no LGBTQ+ characters. However, I will not accept any sort hate toward the LGBTQ+ community.

» Creating drama is encouraged, but no major plot points that involve the entirety of packs without my permission. Feel free to suggest major drama to me via PM.

» Please be polite to each other. Obviously, not all of the characters will get along, and that's fine, but don't be rude to your fellow writers.

» No wolfdogs or coydogs. Mixed breed dogs are preferred over purebreds, and purebreds can only be dogs that ran away from their humans. Orphaned pups aren't allowed, either.

» WE CURRENTLY ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING PUREBRED DOGS OR DOGS THAT WERE FORMER PETS IN THE PACKS. This has been ignored in the allegiance section multiple times, so I've now put it in the rules. Dogs that are currently pets may still be purebreds, however.

The Leader » The leader is in charge of making important decisions within the pack, such as battle decisions, defensive decisions, determining punishment, and more.

The Leader's Mate » The mate of the leader. They don't have the same powers as the leader, but often times they offer advice to their mate.

The Heir » The heir is the strongest pup of the leader and their mate, chosen out of the litter when they're six months old. Once their parents die, they'll become the next leader.

Second-in-Command » The second-in-command helps assist the leader in making decisions, but don't have the actual power to put them into action. If the leader dies and there's no heir to take their place, the second-in-command will come into power.

Second-in-Command's Mate » Similar to the leader's mate, the chosen mate of the second-in-command helps their mate, but don't have the same power.

Healers » These dogs are in charge of tending to wounds and illnesses of their packmates.

Lead Hunter + Lead Fighter » Lead hunters organize the hunting patrols every morning, and lead fighters organize the border patrols every night.

Fighters » The strongest fighters within the pack, sent out on border patrols every night to protect the territory from the rivaling pack or predators.

Hunters » Hunters are sent out on hunting patrols in the morning, and provide food for the entire pack.

Fighters » The strongest fighters within the pack, sent out on border patrols every night to protect the territory from the rivaling pack or predators.

Trainees » Trainees are young dogs who are training to gain a full rank, either a fighter, hunter, or healer. They begin training at six months old, and usually earn their full rank when they're a year old, unless they're a healers' trainee. Healers' trainees have to wait until their mentor dies to gain the full rank.

Mothers » Mothers are dogs who are either expecting or caring for pups from newborns to five months old.

Pups » Young dogs who have yet to become trainees.

Elders » Older dogs who are now unable to fulfill their duties. For smaller dogs, this point is usually around ten years old, for bigger dogs, this point is around seven years old.

» Hunting patrols go out in the mornings and return late afternoon, border patrols go out in the evening and return early in the morning.

» The word of the leader is law, do not disobey.

» The mothers, the pups, and the elders eat first. The leader, the leader's mate, the heir, the second-in-command, and the second-in-commands eat second. The lead hunter and the lead fighter eat third. The healers, the fighters, and the hunters eat fourth. All of the trainees eat last.

» Trainees must be at least six months old.

» Trainees aren't allowed to have mates.

» Any dog may challenge the leader for the position, however, killing isn't allowed when dueling. The duel must go until one of the dogs surrenders.

Jay walked out of his den, stretching his long legs and eyes scanning the pack's camp. His brown eyes rested on the pile of prey, which was lacking much food. Hopefully Marshall would be up soon to announce the morning's hunting patrol. The dead leaves on the forest floor crunched under his paws as he made his way across camp with a certain level of determination to find a comfortable spot to observe the pack. Admittedly, he hated autumn, nearly as much as he hated winter. It was a season where the numerous amount of predators in Bear Pack's side of the forest became especially hungry, and started becoming brave enough to wander into their territory. There he sat tall, but his face laced with hints of worry.

The fluffy older male, Winter, was huddled against the wall of the den, trying his best to sleep while the other dogs rose. He only returned from a border patrol a little while ago, and his muscles screamed for rest. Thankfully, there were no scuffles with Frost's Pack, nor were there threats of predators INSIDE the territory, but, along the borders they could scent a mountain lion beginning to roam a little close. His eyes kept drooping shut, then fluttering open at the slightest noise. It was hard to sleep, perhaps he'll take a small walk if his attempts at sleep don't succeed, and take one of his packmates with him. Any opportunity to get to know others is a good one, especially if they'll end up fighting alongside you in a battle someday.

Yew wasn't assigned to last night's border patrol, thus, got a nice rest. She rose out of her nest, quietly snickering to herself as she noticed big old Winter looking exhausted in the corner. She stretched out thoroughly and shook out her thick fur, trotting with confidence out of the den. She was energized, but there was the dilemma of what to do with her day. She didn't have a trainee, and the border patrols don't leave until evening. She decided she'd wait to see whoever's left around camp, and perhaps challenge them to a nice, friendly spar. She couldn't remember the last time she had a good spar, and the more she thought about the idea, she grew more excited.

Jasmine slunk hesitantly out of the hunters' den, carefully weaving past other dogs, and finding a quiet spot within the pack's camp to await orders from the lead hunter, Marshall. She took note of Jay in the distance, eyeing the prey piles with some impatience, and the terrier mix suddenly became anxious. Was the leader judging their work as hunters? Were they failing?Surely he understood that the colder seasons are always hard in terms of hunting. The predators are devouring everything they can find, and there's plenty of competition between the dogs and the savage predators that lurk near or in their territory. She shuddered at the very thought of one being nearby. She had heard rumors of a mountain lion being close to Bear's Pack's territory, which meant every dog would have to be extra cautious when carrying out their duties.

Noir was curled up in a tight ball within the fighters' den, sound asleep. Like Winter, he had gone out on the border patrol last night, and while it wasn't dramatic by any means, it involved a lot of walking and navigation within the dense forest. The patrols lasts from evening to early morning, which was a long time, especially for such a young, inexperienced fighter. Noir, in fact, had only been made a full-fledged fighter a few days back. He was enjoying the promotion, but it was quite a bit of work, as expected.

Griffin jolted from his sleep, waking up from an awful nightmare. As soon as he became the leader of Frost's Pack, he began having these stress-induced dreams. Usually nightmares involving a fatal mistake which then brings the destruction of the entire pack, or some kind of intense invasion into Frost Pack's camp. At least he could wake up and be soothed by the sights of his still-intact pack. Yet, undoubtedly his leadership was still in question. He has only held this position for a few months now, and already he's had a number of struggles. The season of autumn guaranteed a bad start to a new leader's rule, as prey becomes scarce and predators grow desperate. Thankfully, Frost's Pack doesn't have the problem as extreme as Bear's Pack does, but it's still a notable situation that happens every year. These thoughts ran rampant in his head, and he remains laying down in his nest.

Lilli was an early riser, always had been from the moment she was promoted to a full-fledged healer. She got up just a little before the border patrol returned to camp, then as soon as she heard them enter the camp, she'd rush out as fast as her short corgi legs could take her to make sure that nobody was injured during the patrol. This morning, she was glad to find that everyone returned in one piece. Now, she shuffles through various herbs, checking for any that might be rotting.

Oasis was sleeping in her nest, enjoying her well-deserved rest after the night's border patrol. Though, she always appeared to be in some kind of light sleep. It seemed like every time another dog passed by her nest, she'd wake up, raise her head to inspect the source, then doze back off with ease. She was alert, which was definitely ideal for a fighter. She seemed comfortable, limbs stretched lazily out and head tilted a little backgrounds, her side slowly raising up and down.

Cassidy had a long night, that was for sure. He was patrolling his territory, well, the territory he shares with his human, and he could see the silhouette of a mountain lion in the distance. His loud, deep barks were enough to frighten it off, but the fact that it strayed so close to obvious territory markings was unnerving. He had no doubts that it'd be back. Stubborn beast. Glancing back at his human's cabin, he decided that now would be an appropriate time for a little adventure. No threat dared wandered too close to a human home during the day. He made his way in the direction of one of the two packs he was aware of, the one that was closer to his home- the so-called "Bear's Pack."

As soon as her owner swung the cabin door open, Ruby eagerly bolted out. She appreciated the coziness of the cabin at night, curling up near the fireplace, but it was liberating being outside during the day. She ran about the area for a little while, until she paused, gazing back at her owner. Would they be going on a hunting trip today? She could only hope so. Staying around the house all day was quite boring. She always craved some sort of grand adventure, and hunting trips were the closest she could get to it. Maybe, maybe one of these days she'll stumble across one of these infamous pack dogs.
