Anubis watched the bay stallion quickly flee with a smirk on his face. The horses here in Sanctuary are so easy. The stupid mare left as well with her young filly in tow and Anubis was more than happy with that. The only thing that upset him out of this whole ordeal was the fact that he did not manage to claim the bay pinto mare, but he's sure they'll cross paths again one day and when they do she will be his.
His ear flicked to the side, hearing his mare have a little fit. He rolled his eyes then turned to look at her with a less than amused expression on his face. He opened his mouth to speak but quickly shut it when Breeze suddenly spoke again, this time apologizing. Mares are weird sometime, bipolar, but he'll take this over a more stubborn and defiant mare.
Now that he had his mare back and the troublemakers were gone Anubis once more wanted to claim the two lone mares he saw earlier. He brushed up against Breeze lightly as he passed her, nickering, "Good. Now, before we go anywhere further, you must understand Breeze, any and all stallions will get upset if you leave. Unless injured or weak, all stallions will chase after their mares and fight for them, like I did. Your old stallion? He can't protect you, did you see how he ran? However I can. As long as you're with me, I can keep you safe like no other stallion out here can."
Anubis turned around, readying to go to where he last saw the two mares from earlier when a smell made him pause. He curled his upper lip and raised his head high in the air to get a better idea of what he was smelling. A mare's heat. His nostrils flared and he looked to his right and not terribly far away from them was a pretty spotted mare. His ears flicked forward in interest and he took several steps forward but suddenly stopped, now seeing another mare that also was not terribly far away. This one had pinto patterning.
Anubis took a quick second to think before trumpeting a greeting to the two mares. While his voice was loud, it did not hold the aggression he had when confronting the bay stallion. He bobbed his head in greeting, black tail flagged he kept one eye one the spotted mare and another on the pinto mare, waiting patiently to see their responses.

Riot's spirits fell as the mare in front of him took on a sad, sympathetic expression. He pulled his ears back and his throat constricted, making it difficult for him to breath properly. He shut his eyes tight as he felt a wave of sorrow and grief. It's all his fault, they should have stayed in the barn. He shook his head a little, suddenly refusing the idea that one of his children was dead in a river. The mare in front of him, while Riot highly doubts she's lying, has no idea what his foals look like. The foal she saw in the river? No proof right now that it's his, it could have easily been some other poor sap's offspring.
He regained his composure once more and opened his eyes to look at the mare right when she offered her assistance. Riot gave the mare a small, sad smile and replied, "Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm Riot by the way." He paused,
thinking of how he was going to phrase his next words when a nicker caught his attention. His ears flicked forward in excitement.
He knew that voice! He lifted his head up high and flagged his white tail, turning to see his sweet Echo and beside her was their almost a yearling daughter. Riot's heart soared and the sadness he felt slipped away a little with the appearance of Echo and Daisy. Riot nickered a soft greeting to his mare, walking forward to meet her he hugged her in return and nibbled at her withers. He lowered his head and twitched his lips over Daisy's poll in greeting. While he still had many mares and a few foals missing, the thoughts of which saddened him, he felt so much better having Taehyung, Rev, Echo and Daisy with him again. Revolution and Echo were his favorite mares, they have been with him the longest and he knew them the best, losing them would have left gaping holes in his heart.
He lifted his head up and looked at all the mares in his small herd as he spoke, "Right, so first things first, I suggest we all try to find Rebel as she'll be one of the more vulnerable horses from our herd." He paused and looked at Revolution now, "Do you remember the last place you saw her? We can start looking there."

Ameena nickered sternly to her colt as he moved away, quickly taking several steps forward she pushed him back to where she wanted him, namely away from the others. She stood beside him protectively, flashing a pin of the ears at Marielle in warning if she were to look over. While Marielle seemed alright a few months after their little confrontation, she didn't know her that well nor did she fully trust her yet. Older mares were known to steal other foals and Ameena was not ever going to let her darling colt be stolen. She had made the mistake of trusting other mares once before and never again would she let such a thing happen.
She was around six years old, she thought she was wise and experienced back then, but no, she was nothing but a fool. She was put out into pasture with five other pregnant or nursing mares with her day old filly after the vet checked her out. She knew the other mares quite well and let her guards down. A day passes, things are good, then suddenly the oldest mare there comes over and runs off with her filly! Ameena didn't know how to get her back and she chased after them, calling out frantically for her filly. Her filly would try to get back but she'd get nipped and pushed around. Ameena would try and take her and she'd receive a swift, sharp kick. She narrowly missed one to her head. After a while she was too exhausted and injured and had to give up chasing her filly. She was pushed to the outside, where she'd watch anxiously and call out weakly for her foal. The humans eventually noticed, rushed in, separated everybody and she got her filly back but it was such a traumatic event, one she'd never forget.
She glanced at Mark then back at Apollo and sighed inwardly as her colt was still very much interested in her father. She glanced back at Mark, then Marielle and reluctantly allowed Mark to come over if he wanted as Ameena does not think Mark will do anything. She moved herself in between Apollo and Marielle and lowered her head to graze, her eye never leaving her colt.

Apollo chewed contently on the stallion's black forelock, flicking his small tail idly, his eyes were partially closed and ears hung out to the sides. He flicked one ear forward as the stallion told him his name, Mark. Apollo played with the name in his head and totally distracted, he did not notice the early warning signs that Mark was going to move and when Mark raised his head Apollo's chin hit Mark's nose. Apollo jumped back and snorted, shaking his dished head in annoyance and embarrassment. Apollo worked his jaw a little and when he felt no pain he went back over to his mother who was still grazing.
Apollo watched Mark head over to another mare and her foal. Apollo didn't know there were other foals here. He bobbed his head slightly, ears turned forward in interest and tail held straight up. The more he looked however the more Apollo felt something bad was happening. The colt looked weak, unable to stand or eat. While Apollo was new to the world, he knew that such things were bad signs. His tail fell and ears pulled back. Unable to watch any longer Apollo turned away from the trio and back towards his mother.

Arya walked warily through a valley, snorting nervously every so often. Arya had been separated from her herd in the last storm and she was not taking it all that well. Arya has seen the tigers and lions lurking around, she knows she stands no chance if one of those predators were to pick her as their next meal. She was even more afraid now that she had a tiny golden bundle of energy bouncing around her that she had to keep constant watch of to ensure he never went too far. As the day went on it became increasingly warmer and Arya decided it was time to give her and Skiron a little break. While it's not hot like summertime, Skiron needs shade sometimes to prevent the snip marking on his muzzle from getting sunburned. She paused, looking around for some shade when her eyes landed on a large oak tree. It was healthy looking, the tree had many branches and green leaves were abundant. Arya nickered to Skiron to grab his attention once more and made her way over to the oak tree. She looked around once more for a horse and when she saw no one once more she let out a long, high-pitched whinny. She may not be visible to horses,
but she hopes that if there are any nearby her cries are audible.

Skiron bounced around his mother, trotting this way and that. Light golden ears were constantly pricked and his small blonde tail was held straight up in the air. He would look at the wide open land to the right and when he had seen it all he'd trot around his mother and look at the land to the left. His legs itched to run, to go explore everything he sees but he knew it would make his mother less than happy. Skiron had been alive for just a few days now, but he had learned quickly how far away from his mother he could get before worrying her and being told off when he came back. Skiron lowered his head to the ground and kicked up his heels. He wanted to run and play so badly yet he was stuck by his mother's side, unable to go more than two meters away from her and he had no other colts to romp around with. He reared up and playfully mounted his mother, nipping gently at her hips and sides, asking her to play with him. When she did not indulge him he reluctantly slid off and went back to surveying the land. Around midday they found an oak tree that provided plenty of shade with it's large, long sprawling branches. They took refuge from the sun underneath it and while his mother cried out for someone, a someone Skiron did not know, he rolled around on the ground,
dirtying up the white spots on his rump. He sat up and licked his lips, looking out from under the oak tree at the land around him for other horses.

Pepper stopped grooming Ohanzee for a little as she suddenly felt a burning itch on her leg that needed dealing with. She stretched the leg out and scratched at the itch with her teeth but she kept one ear turned back towards the roan mare to show she was still listening to what she had to say. While most of what she said made sense, Pepper still felt confused at why the humans were dangerous, why they were seen as bad to Ohanzee. Her first human owners were less than ideal though Pepper never saw them as danger or a threat and her second owners were great. The thought to her of humans being something you have to hide from seems kind of silly and ridiculous to Pepper. Granted however, Pepper has lived a rather sheltered life so that may be it.
The itch gone Pepper brought her leg back underneath her and resumed grooming her lead. "How exactly were the humans dangerous?" She asked.

She lowered her nose and twitched her lips over the green stalks beneath her but she did not pull up any of the blades for eating. She found she had no appetite. She was bored, a little lonely, and just wanted to... do something. Hey, maybe Romeo or Zola will want to play! Menhit looked about for them, having to turn this way and that because of her eye when she suddenly remembered they were gone. Guess while she's adjusted to her sight, she has not gotten over the loss of her two herd mates.
She looked over at her mother, perhaps she'd want to play but she was busy talking to the lead mare, Ohanzee. She thought about Riff, but he had moved off and in her mind that means he clearly doesn't want to be around her anymore. Maybe she's too boring for him. She pulled her light golden ears back. She's not boring, is she? God, she hopes not. She wouldn't even know how to fix being a boring horse.
Menhit sighed deeply and continued her sniffing of the grass. Everything is so boring here but everything outside of here is too dangerous and scary.
