I AM THE DEFINITION OF PERFECTION

Demeter let out a quiet snort of amusement at the two akhal takes. The younger one had just introduced herself proudly, not realising how silly she seemed. Titles and awards meant nothing out here in the wild, and to be honest it just emphasised how inexperienced the mare was. Sure, it could mean good looking foals and all, but if a mare who had been pampered all her life by the two legs and a mare who had been wild her whole life side by side, the one who would flourish and survive would be the one born wild. Moving away from the three, she walked over to a patch of grass and grazed lightly whilst keeping a watchful eye out for any danger that might present itself to her and the herd. As far as she was aware, she was the only Arabian in the herd.

LIFE IS TOUGH, DARLING. BUT SO ARE WE.

Allouette sighed as her dam figured out what was making her stomach a little rounder than usual. Before she could answer, a young draft mare cane up to her and introduced herself excitedly. Alouette pinned her ears slightly at the interruption. Couldn't she tell that they were in the middle of something? "I...it was Pilgrim." she said, a little guiltily. Knowing how mad Fable would be, she moved forward with a nicker. "It was not his fault. He hung on, and refused to cover me at first. But I got to my final stage, and it was me who snapped. I made him cover me, and to this second I am sure I made the right decision. He is the right size for me, and I really want a little foal of my own. I know you aren't happy about it, but the deed is done." Looking down at Fable's filly, she chuckled as the small thing introduced herself. "Hello there, Myth. It's lovely to meet you. You are very pretty you know, just like your dam" She hoped the little compliment would help calm Fable a little.

After making sure every horse in his herd was safely under the shelter of the wide canopies of the bunch of trees they had decided to shelter at, Nero glanced down at the valley. Water was filling it fast, the normal calm waters of the cool stream now at a higher level than usual. He focused on being calm. He had to be ready to move his herd away in case the waters rose much higher.

"I see. That's a beautiful name, Cheyenne," Kashikoi replied politely. Inclining his head to a small barn not far away, he suggested, "Why don't we go to shelter first? The rain is making me feel uncomfortable." He really wanted to get dry as soon as possible. Spotting two mares already under the shelter he had pointed out, he decided to go and meet the two mares.

Jinsoku huddled beside her brother's dark shape, even as his last breath faded and all life escaped from his black coat. Even as the wind and rain lashed at them in relentless fury. Jinsoku pressed her muzzle to her brother's for the last time, then got up and stood back. For a moment, she was at a loss of what to do, until she noticed the dark flood water lapping around her brother's motionless body. The water level was rising. In a state of panic, she ran forward and tugged, determined to get her brother away from the water, but the water was too strong. Senshi was swept away into the dark. Terrified, Jinsoku galloped back up along the hill, twisting her head from side to side. Where was Pilgrim? "Pilgrim! The water level is rising! Get out of the trees!" Jinsoku neighed, hoping that the young stallion would hear her above the gale. At a higher point, now safe from the water, Jinsoku turned and looked down. Her brother was gone. Her panic was quelled when she remembered Senshi's words: "When I die, I want the flowing river to take me, carry me, to the sea, to the horizon, and beyond. I'll be watching you from there, Jinny, no matter what happens, I will be there for you." That time, she was just a young filly, huddled in the safety of the stall in the ranch along with her mother and brother. But now...Jinsoku swept her gaze across the trees. Pilgrim could not be...could he? She knew a strong and determined colt like him would definitely fight to the last to escape the water.

Golden cantered along the row of trees, keeping under their canopy, trying not to get wet. She neighed shrilly. Where was Thowra? She looked around the falling rain, wishing that her dearest Thowra, the silver spirit, would appear out of the sheets of grey rain. She stood under a tall tree and shook herself dry. She had to get to Thowra fast. Her heat scent was muffled by the wind and rain, but still noticeable. She did not want to get snaked by another stallion before she could get to Thowra.

A bolt of lightning lit up the sky and a silhouette appeared on the hill before them. A horse. Intricacy quickly pushed Fudge behind her, ready to fight to keep him safe. She knew that some stallions would kill colts that were not of his bloodline. Intricacy hoped that the horse that was on the hill would not bring mortal danger to her little son. If so, she would keep him safe at all costs, even her life if necessary. If she showed that she would protect her colt no matter what, the stallion might think twice and not approach them after all.

Fudge waited behind his dam, not knowing what she was doing. He hoped this was a game. Games were fun and he was bored. That horse in the hill he saw was black. In games he played, the black horse was the great hero. He thought of Papa. Mama told him, that Papa had died, during the blizzard that separated them the winter before his birth. Fudge was glad he was born in mid-Spring, just like most other foals. He liked Spring. Mama told him Papa was a noble and honourable stallion. Fudge thought it meant strong and brave. He wanted to be strong and brave like Papa. Papa's name was...Fudge could not quite remember. Des...Da...Des...Desjardins! With a satisfied snort, Fudge decided that Papa's name was Desjardins. Lying down behind Mama, Fudge thought quietly about how great a horse Papa must have been.

Jewel || 6 Years || Mare || Stallion: Olympus || Heat Stage: 4 || Foals: None in RP|| Tags: Olympus, Poppy

Generally, Jewel would rather tease the stallion a while longer before she joined him. However, Poppy and Olympus looked so hopeful that she felt as though putting it off a little while longer would break their hearts. She smiled. "Alright, you've won me over. I'll join you." Jewel said, taking a step forward to exchange scents with her new stallion. She swished her tail. Her heat was very strong now and she hoped that Olympus would cover her quickly. She did not want her foal to be born too late because it may lessen its chance of survival.

Winx || 6 Years || Mare || Stallion: TBC || Heat Stage: Heat finished || Foals: None in RP|| Tags: Romeo

Winx stood underneath the trees, the heavy raindrops pushing through the leaves and landing on her. She curled her upper lip back. This was not her idea of fun in any way. A nicker caught her attention. A tall stallion with a group of three mares trailing behind him had called out to her. At last, someone has found me, she thought, relieved. Winx cantered over to the stallion, pinning her ears back as the rain pattered against her head. "Hi." She called out as soon as she was within speaking distance.

Thowra || 12 Years || Stallion || Mares: Euphoria, Auka|| Covered: 1 || Foals: Zeus, Skiron || Tags: Zeus, Skiron, Herd, Ambrosia

Thowra dipped his head respectfully to the sooty buckskin mare. "Pleased to meet you, Ambrosia. I am Thowra, the wind. I come, I pass, and I am gone." He introduced himself formally. He had a strong belief in that the older the mare, the wiser, and therefore should be treated with as much respect as possible. Currently, Ambrosia was the oldest mare in his company. Thowra nodded his head in agreement. "We will find shelter once we reach the top." He whinnied, indicating the top of the mountain with a toss of his head. "I have been in a similar situation before. This is a flood. We must reach high ground before searching for shelter otherwise we risk the water catching up with us." The pale palomino stallion explained to Ambrosia. "I will let the herd rest for a little while. You should too. We all need as much energy as we can to beat this flood." Thowra suggested. He nuzzled Zeus as the yearling colt pressed up against his side. He looked around for Skiron and, spotting the appaloosa colt, nickered to him to call him over. He wanted the two motherless colts to stay by his side, partially for warmth, partially so that he could keep an eye on them.

Thowra nuzzled Skiron as the colt came and stood beside Zeus. He watched the young colt search for grass, only to be disappointed. Hopefully, the herd would soon be rested enough to continue up the mountain. Thowra noticed some yellow-brown berries dangling off a nearby bush. I wonder if those are anything like pea-tree berries? He took a bite and discovered that they tasted extremely similar.

Zeus || 1 Year || Colt || Herd: Thowra's || Dam: Artemis (Not In RP) || Sire: Thowra || Tags: Thowra, Herd, Skiron, Ambrosia

Zeus nudged his sire, annoyed that they had not yet found any substantial food. His eyes widened in shock as he saw Thowra eating some strange, nut-like berries off a bush. Why hadn't he thought of that? Zeus left his sire and bounded over to a bush with the same nut things growing on them, and took a big mouthful. He bit down on them and immediately spat them out.
Ew, what is that?!? He wondered, sniffing and recoiling at the things he had spat out. How his sire managed to digest it, he had no clue.

Raine || 10 Years || Mare || Stallion: Res. Spirit || Heat Stage: Heat finished || Foals: N/A || Tags: Res. Spirit

Raine had been wandering for days, searching for Spirit, her lost stallion and greatest companion, but to no avail.
The water was beginning to get too deep and her stallion's scent had dwindled off so that it was practically impossible to track.
Raine sighed. She must get to shelter to stay alive and to search another day. With that thought, she turned her head to the nearest high ground. That was where she would head. Her instincts were telling her to get to high ground, so that is where she would go. With another irritated sigh, the flaxen chestnut tobiano began to trudge up the slope of the hill.

Soldier || 14 Years || Stallion || Mares: Warrior || Covered: 0 || Foals: Blade, Champion || Tags: Champion, Blade, Warrior

- last Spring -
Soldier gave Champion and approving nod, then stepped away to allow the rest of his family to say their goodbyes. Today was the day when his now six-year-old son would have to leave his herd for good. They all knew that the amount of time Soldier's sons and daughters spent with the herd was unnatural, but they didn't particularly care. Technically, Champion didn't spend all that much time with the herd, he just tagged along and stayed nearby when he felt like it. He gave Warrior, his most favourite and only mare, a reassuring nicker. "He'll be fine." He told the mare.

- time skip -
Soldier neighed desperately to Warrior and Blade who were on the other side of the dark, rushing water. He had already attempted crossing the flooding water, but to no avail. He neighed one more time, a neigh meant to reassure them that he would find them again, before quickly hurrying up the hill and to the safety of high ground. There was no point in continuously trying to cross the rushing water if he was going to die doing so. It was better to live and find them another day.

Warrior || 13 Years || Mare || Stallion: Soldier (Open)|| Heat Stage: Heat finished || Foals: Blade, Champion || Tags:

- last Spring -
Warrior waited patiently for her turn to say goodbye to her son, Champion. When Soldier moved out of the way, she stepped forward and rubbed her head with his. "Good luck and stay strong, my son." She told him, feeling both sorrow and great joy collide in her heart. This should be a happy time, her son was finally old and strong enough to establish his own herd, but she couldn't help feeling as though she would miss his company. Warrior turned to Soldier, looking for the words of comfort he always provided her with. She nodded her head in agreement. "I know." She sighed, watching Champion trot confidently away.

- time skip -
Warrior strained her ears, trying with all her might to hear what Soldier was trying to tell her. "Go to safety. I will find you." He seemed to be saying. She could hardly see him now through the pouring rain. "We must go." She nickered loudly to Blade over the noise of the rain. But, as she turned around, she realised that Balde was no longer beside her. But, how could that have happened?!? There's no fast flowing water here yet! Warrior's mind raced for options. Suddenly, it dawned on her. Blade had taken the opportunity to leave. It had been obvious that she wanted to leave the herd last Spring, but she didn't know that the filly would actually take the initiative to leave on her own. Warrior searched for around fifteen minutes, but she was unable to pick up Blade's scent trail. With one final desperate whinny, she turned uphill and began to climb to safety.

Champion || 6 Years || Stallion || Mares: Open || Covered: 0 || Foals: N/A || Tags: Soldier, Blade, Warrior

- last Spring -
Champion accepted the goodbyes of his family, respectfully dipping his head in thanks to each of his herd members.
He had stayed with his sire's herd for what seemed like an eternity, but now he was ready to take on the world. Champion turned and trotted swiftly away, his head raised high in his pride. He never looked back.

- time skip -
Champion overlooked the flooded valley before him. He had reached the top of a small sized mountain very quickly because he didn't have any mares. He did have some mares by early Summer, but one big ugly brute had come along and shoved him over and stolen all his mares. He felt the ghost pain of the deep bite the stallion had given him on his whithers and winced internally. That had hurt a lot, but it had healed and left a scar now. Champion turned his attention back to the valley, searching for any lone mares that he could pick up.

Blade || 3 Years || Mare || Stallion: Open || Heat Stage: Heat finished || Foals: N/A || Tags: Soldier, Champion, Warrior

- last Spring -
Blade merely touched her muzzle to his, a gentle way of saying thank you and goodbye, before her brother was gone. To be honest, she was extremely jealous. She loved her dam and sire a lot, but she believed that she was also ready to join her own herd. It was sooo unfair!

- time skip -
Blaze snorted. This was the perfect opportunity for her to slip away. With that thought, she turned and disappeared into the heavily falling rain. After a fair while of trotting, she turned and began to trudge uphill through the driving rain. She hoped that she would not get to the top and realise that she's still on the same mountain as her dam and sire.

the appaloosa mare grazed in the sun, her coat warmed by the sun light. Her tail lightly swished the flies away from her rear and back legs. She lifted up her head and looked around with some wild oats still in her mouth she let out a small whinny before munching on the oats that was in her mouth.

Garnet

Mare | 15.3 hh | American SB x TN Walker|6 Years |Link| Herd: None |Heat: None| Feeling: Disdainful|Tag/s: Agate, Kashikoi

The weather had not been kind. From the moment Garnet has first laid eyes and hooves on this wretched valley, she had been
wet. Rain, cold, rain, cold, rai- you get the idea. They had been lucky to had made it out of the bottom before it had become the muddy mess it was now. Their small outcropping of shelter had been fine for a short time, but every horse needs to eat eventually. And thus, there they were.
"I told you this was a bad idea!",The red-bay mare twitched her tail impatiently.
Their trip into the driving rain had not gone well. What little grass there was to be had was disgusting, and each mouthful came with a gush of unsavory water. The valley was horribly flooded, swollen like the belly of a pregnant mare. Much too nervous and antsy to eat, Garnet had spent most of her time watching around them. Her body had been tense, her gaze cold. As soon as Garnet felt that Agate had eaten enough to hold her, they were on the move. She has planned to return to their private cave, which was devoid of all other scents and hidden. What will being an unlucky mare, the weather decided otherwise. After slipping and sliding their way along paths with footing equivalent to a wet marble floor, they had tired quickly. Garnet had made an executive decision to seek closer shelter. The pair had fought and stumbled their way to an old, small barn.
"This will do. Hopefully, no one else will find this place before the rain stops."
"You worry too much, I am sure that the horses here are nice,"The smaller twin remained positive despite her weary body.
Garnet's gaze becomes sullen,"That's exactly what I fear most currently."
Tucked in the driest area of their barn, the middle, Garnet is the first to spot the stallion. She watches with baited breath as he interacts with another horse, both being the first creatures they had stumbled upon since their arrival. Anger and fear wage a war in the recesses of her mind, but she forces them into a box as the buckskin notices them and subsequently turn towards them. Although nervous and jittery, Garnet steps haughtily in front of her shorter sister. The other mare snorts as she is forced away from the fresher air near the entrance. Taking notice of the stallion finally, Agate turns to watch him come. Both mares wait for this tall horse to reach them.

Agate

Mare | 15 hh | American SB x TN Walker|6 Years |Link| Herd: None |Heat: None| Feeling: Disinterested, bored|Tag/s: Garnet, Kashikoi

"Garnet, I am hungry," Agate turns to her sister, noticing yet again that she has not lost the tension she gathered from the moment they had entered this place. Half expecting to be turned down, the happy horse grins at her sister when she walks out of their shelter with directions to be followed.
The smile doesn't last long.
After journeying down to places she had never seen, likely not eating enough to make up for energy she would burn attempting to climb back out of this horrid hole, and hitting the ground more times than she would care to mention, Agate was tired. She followed Garnet without complaint, allowing the more dominant mare to find them a new place to wait out this downpour. And, eventually, she does. The ramshackle wooden building is rugged at best, drafty, and the floor is nothing more than a dusty patch of dirt. Water has leaked through the walls, leaving the barn's corners muddy. Despite this, Agate is relieved. She regains a bit of cheer and strength, hoping that the mood shift will lift her twin up as well. After furtively nosing around for more food, Agate settles near the mostly open double doors. The thinly-built mare has just calmed with the hopes of napping off her painful muscles when she notices a sudden pitch in her sister's breathing. She lifts her head up, twitching to move her heavy black forelock from blocking her vision. Her brown eyes land on a drenched stallion, who seems to be moving to the barn. Before she can form a real thought about this, the dainty mare has been moved forcefully by her sister. She can see many signs of fright in the posture of her strong sibling, so she allows herself to be herded. Honestly, the mare does not care about any other horses. She is exhausted, and bored. With the hopes that this new horse will not causes issues with her sister and force them to leave, she watches him approach.
Horses are my special interest and I have been working since I joined to collect them all. Can you help me? Currently at 960/~1900

      ________________________________________
Jericho relaxed a bit, and cocked his hoof as she groomed him. He kept his eyes open though, alert and ready for if a rival stallion or a predator came their way. Lots of herds and other animals would be searching for shelter from the rain, and they could easily come across the herd. The rain had slowed a bit, but it was still going and the bay stallion had a feeling it wouldn’t end for some time. Jericho continued grooming Neptune happily, and listened to her smooth voice as she spoke in return. “Well, I’m glad you’re doing alright..” he trailed off, noting hat she looked at the small gash on his shoulder and the scratches on his chest. He pinned his ears a bit uncomfortably. He’d always hated to show his weaknesses to anyone, even his mares. He listened to her say he was distant, and he considered how to respond to her for a bit before finally nickering in a soft, slightly sorrowful tone, “Yes well, you see.. Fable is upset with me, I understand why.. but I figured she’d forgive me by now and I apologized and.. oh, what an idiot I am! I’m sure you wouldn’t want to hear the full story anyways. It’s somewhat long.” He sighed, taking in her scent as he continued grooming her. She smelled like rivers and roses. He finally finished up on her mane and moved on to her back, occasionally swiveling his head and ears to look out for danger. Although he was sure his mares would alert him if they saw something was aloof, it was always good for him to keep an eye on things. Jericho flicked his tail, glancing over at Candy and Fable. His heart would be torn in two if Candy learned to hate him as well. Fable would forgive him eventually right? He focused his attention on Neptune once more, nibbling her belly lightly, with a loving touch. His foal was in there, it was a strange thought but a true one. He continued to groom Neptune’s back contentedly. He let out a sigh, “I’m so glad to have such wonderful mares in my herd. You’re all special in your own sort of way.” He smiled a bit, playfully tugging on Nep’s dark mane. “I hope this rain ends soon, it’s starting to become worrying. By the time it’s over there will be no food left for the long winter.” That meant they may even have to resort to staying in a human shelter for horses, because they always had a bunch of food. Jericho glanced about again, but continued grooming his brindled mare calmly afterwards.

      mare/colt-6/4 months-feeling:happy-tags;herd-foals/heat stage:Chip,pregnant (early summer)
________________________________________ Dove nickered softly as Wash approached, giving him a loving nose in the shoulder. She smiled a bit at Chip’s question, and Wash’s answer. Dove shook her bicoloured mane in the rain, and nudged Chip gently. The water was steadily rising. It seemed the beginning of a flood even. They needed to move soon. Dove glanced towards the other mares. Surely one of them was a lead? Wash had beckoned towards Poet, so perhaps she was the lead. The dappled mare glanced away, lowering her muzzle to the wet grass, and eating what she could. She had a feeling there wouldn’t be much food left for winter even, so she’d need to eat while she can, even if this wet grass was less than satisfactory. Chip needed milk, and her unborn foal needed food- so she had to eat. Dove flicked her soaked tail, spraying water off of it. She was no lead, but honestly she was getting to the point where she was about to lead this herd. They needed to move and find shelter. Dove huffed, and shook her abdomen, and legs. She nibbled Chip’s wet mane, and nudged him back under her belly. “Chip, you could get sick standing in the cold rain like that, get back under here.” He then proceeded to respond with a simple “Then why are you standing out here in the rain.” Dove huffed, “Because I have no Mama to stand under.”
Chip gazed at his grand, big Papa for a moment, and puffed out his chest, trying to make himself look bigger so his Papa would be proud. “Rain..” he murmured. “If it feeds the grasses and trees, it must be a me to feed horses!” He exclaimed, and trotted out into the rain, with his mouth open, playfully bucking. Chip huffed, as his mother called him back. “Then why are you standing out here in the rain?” He asked annoyedly. Chip attempted to poke his muzzle out and eat more rain. However, Dove noticed, and gave him a sharp nip on the rump. Chip huffed, and pulled his head back in. Chip began to nurse. He was nearly to tall to stand under his mother’s belly. Soon, he’d be too old to nurse too. He nursed as much as he could, and watched the rain fall around him.
(a bit of a wordblock here, sorry!)

________________________________________Ivy gently groomed her new mare friend as she waited for Cerberus to finish up. Suddenly a large droplet of water plopped on her dark nose, causing Ivy to huff. Several more came after, large tearshaped drops coming from the sky. It was raining. Although it was only raining softly for now, the clouds suggested large storm rolling in. With a sharp nicker, Ivy rounded up all of the mares, gently nudging Butterfly as she went. The sky had gone dark, and thunder rumbled through the sky. Ivy walked, but quickly, knowing many of the mares would be pregnant. The black mare needed to find shelter for her herd and quickly. She swished her tail nervously, as the autumn winds picked up, blowing the fallen leaves around the herd. She moved swiftly towards an area she knew they'd be safe in.
They soon reached the spot, a huge overhanging rock structure on a hill. Going under trees was dangerous in a storm like this. These rocky structures wer hard to break, and more than protected the herd from the storm. Ivy swished her tail, trotting around to each her member and nudging and checking them to make sure they were unharmed. With a sigh, she returned to her mare friend's side, as all of the mares seemed fine. She nibbled Butterfly's mane gently. "It looks like a big storm's coming, but it should pass soon I hope.. it all happened so quickly." The dark mare sighed, grooming the now wet mare. She moved away for a moment and shook out her mane, before continuing grooming the light mare.
Medusa shuddered as a cold, wet drop landed on her back. What was this? She'd never seen it before. Was the sky a giant lake, and the water was falling out? Yes, that made sense! She proudly lifted her tail and head, for she must be the smartest filly that ever existed. "Mama, why is the water falling from the-" she asked, before being nudged to her mother's side, and trailing Ivy as she looped around and in front of the herd. They began moving. Medusa was proud do he the daughter of the lead. Being lead seemed nice, being able to boss others around. Medusa pranced by her mother's side as they trotted through the lake water. Finally, they reached a rocky shelter. Medusa began to nurse, but asked loudly to her mama's friend Butterfly, "Why is water falling out of the sky lake?" she asked, hoping to sound very smart. "I was so smart, I found out there's a lake in the sky all by myself! And the water is falling on us!" She nickered this happily, pricking her ears and flagging her tail.

The young mare was prone to falling over any moment now. Her stallion moved over to her side, steadying and warming her. Sola blinked slowly, dazedly even. Blood had started to trickle down her speckled leg once more, making her wound sting and her leg tickle- but she couldn’t move or shake it, no, for the wound in her leg would reopen again. “Alex... you should just leave me.. I’m going to be a burden.. I can barely walk.. it might heal, but.. I’m not sure if it will- I could have a limp for the rest of my life,” Sola murmured with a huff, as her wound had seemed to close up again. “And, I’ll be responsible for your lives if we have to run from some predator of sorts if you have to wait for me.” The young sabino mare edged away from Alex, testing her leg. It wasn’t reopening again, which was good, but it still stung to put weight in the leg. Sola lifted it with a huff, and snorted as her stomach grumbled. Perhaps there was some human food in here somewhere. Sola looked about the barn, before seeing some dead, yellow grass a few feet away. It wasn’t amazing, but it was food nonetheless. Sola limped over to it, wincing a bit. She ate hungrily, and quickly, keeping her left front leg up at all times. It was a difficult task, yes, but it was worth it to not be in pain. Sola ocassionally set her hoof down when she became unbalanced, causing searing pain to shoot up her leg. Sola blinked slowly, chewing and swallowing almost at a rhythmic pace. She finally stepped away as her belly had been filled, and limped towards Alex once more. “I’m sorry for my dreary behavior earlier, you see I was quite faint from all the blood loss. I should be quite alright now though, I’ll assure you.” Sola gave him a light nibble on the main, glancing over at the new mare. Perhaps she’d become Sola’s company amkng this desolate loneliness. Sola playfully nibbled at Alex’s neck, and brushed against the fuzz on his muzzle. She huffed, and turned her head away as she looked off into the distance. The sun had begun setting quicker, winter would be among them sooner than they’d expect. The rain had seemed to mostly stop, although the plains were still flooded and there would be no grass for the herd to eat, even in winter. On top of that, the water would freeze and make it too dangerous to even think of leaving the shelter untill spring. Well, at least Sola would have avid time to heal up her shoulder. Sola walked over to one of the barn walls slowly and carefully, and leaned against it peacefully. She fluttered her eyes and soon began to sleep. She dreamt of happy days of the past; spring sunshine and butterflies, and the wind streaming through her mane, as she galloped alongside Inez and Ivy and little Medusa. Suddenly, a large stallion, Cerberus no doubt, crashed between them, splitting Sola off. Sola’s eyes fluttered open in shock. She’d been asleep for a while but it seemed not much had happened. Sola sighed and lowered her head again as she slept, this time more peacefully.

Echo happily trotted along with the two colts at her side, following her friend as she led them to a nearby barn. Echo slowed her pace as they entered it, letting Rev take Renegade. She immediately set out to find food, as she knew that was her task as always- she was firmiliar with these barns. Echo huffed around, poking her muzzle in the typical places. Finally, she found a small overhang, and a stable filled with the golden, dry grass. She believed the humans used to call it “hay” although she couldn’t be sure. It’d been almost two years since she’d been with them, so she had ignored forgotten those days. She poked around in the food, pushin aside the molded parts. There was still plenty of hay left. Echo let out a nicker, to let the rest of the herd know that was where the food was located. She trotted back to her colt, and Rev, quickly checking Baydar over. Good, nothing had happened to him. As she ran her muzzle over his back, she noticed he was starting to gray out, like his father. He’d be a solid grey, not a dapple like herself. She nuzzled him proudly. Baydar would make a handsome stallion someday, although his unique facial markings would fade with his greying most likely. Echo nibbled his mane lovingly before turning to Revolution worriedly. “It looks like we may have some flooding.. the rain isn’t stopping..” she was glad they did find a barn though, it’d have plenty of food to replace he grass destroyed with the flood. Echo took her eye off Baydar or a while, allowing him to play around with Renegade. She sighed, cocking a hoof. “I guess we’ll be here for a while then. There should be enough food though, to last a while,” she said gesturing to the stall with the hay in it with her muzzle. Seeing Revolution drape a blanket over Ranegade, Echo decided that would be a good idea, and she dragged one the color of the sky off a hook and softly placed it on Baydar’s back, with a playful tussle of his mane. She then approached Daisy, giving her a slight nibble on the withers while she moped by the door. “You know I love you as much as Baydar dear- he just keeps me so busy!” Echo nickered light-heartedly and draped a purple blanket over her daughter. “Whenever you decide to join us, you may.” She sighed, walking back towards Revolution and the colts with a shake of her head. “She’s such a drama queen..” Echo said with a slight huff.
Baydar kicked out at his sister when she approached, only to receive a sharp nip in the rump back. His actions worked though, and she walked away. Baydar triumphantly reared, and placed his hooves on his mother’s back playfully. She placed a blanket on top of him after Renegade’s. She then gave Daisy one. Argh! Baydar was supposed to get all of the attention. He huffed and frowned, but when his mother returned he pressed against her side and began to nurse hungrily, forgetting Daisy for a while.

Daisy looked around curiously at this shelter. She’d been in one of these before, last winter. It had been nearly a year ago. She remembered her Mama had led them there, and Daisy had felt proud- being the daughter of the temporary lead. She sighed, shaking her head slightly. She flicked her tail nervously. That had been a year ago- she would be two next spring, and have to leave the herd. Daisy flicked her chestnut tail nervously and took a step towards her mother, but her mother began to move right after. Daisy sighed quietly, and glanced towards Baydar jealously. Daisy huffed, and moved towards a blanket hooked on a stable door. She smelled it cautiously and nibbled the corners a bit. It was the color of her eyes, a deep brown, with a lighter brown trim. Daisy glared at it. No, she was strong and independent now. She didn’t need a blanket. Daisy lifted her tail and moved towards Echo with her head high, poised like a typical Arabian’s. She soon realized, however, that she was unwanted, and moved away. She glanced around at the herd. Perhaps there was a childhood friend she could talk to? No, Rev’s foal has been the only one, and she was gone now. Daisy lowered her head, moving towards the food her mother had discovered, and eating slowly. No, she wasn’t hungry, simply bored. They needed to save it for later anyways. Daisy had a feeling they would be here for a while. She moved towards Baydar, but received a sharp kick in the chest from him. Daisy frowned, and nipped him sharply on the rump as payback. Daisy huffed and flicked her red tail, sulking by the barn door and letting the wind pass over her red body. Finally her mother approached with a blanket and spoke to her. Daisy responded win a ‘hmph’ and a twitch of her tail, although the blanket did feel good.

________________________________________ Marielle’s throat tightened as Jimber spoke. Mark’s face flashed through her mind and she winced painfully. Dead, Mark was dead. Her dear stallion, her love, Smoky’s father, was dead. And it was all Marielle’s fault. There was that depression again, stacking up. But no- the roan mare shove dit back down, for such emotions weren’t necessary. “Hm” she murmured as she cleared her throat. “No, no, I enjoy this herd, it’s just that.. well my past.. is a tangled one. Perhaps once we find shelter I can tell it to you.” The roan mare said, giving River a slight nibble on the mane as they began trotting slowly up the hill. Marielle glanced in many directions through the streaming rain, ignoring the water building up at her hooves. She soon spotted a good shelter, and moved towards it quickly. She wanted to escape this cold rain as quickly as possible. The roan mare slowed her pace as they entered the treetops, on elevated land. There was a mountain nearby, although surely many herds were sheltered there already and with a heated mare, there may be some all too eager stallions waiting for mares to snatch. So, if it got bad enough, they’d move to the mountain but for now the treetops were fine for shelter. Marielle leaned her head down towards River, and glanced towards Jimber and Iona. Hmph, they seemed to be getting along well. Whatever- Marielle would find some mare to bond with sooner or later. She continued grooming her adopted filly, shuddering a bit in the wind. Winter would come soon, and so it’d probably be best to move to the mountains soon. Marielle huffed, rounding up Iona again with a soft, soft nip and a nicker to Jimber. She trotted with her tail flagged towards the mountains. They reached the rocky structures soon enough, and Marielle began to investigate. She soon found a large cliff, which served as an overhang, or shelter for the horses. It was low to the ground as well, so there wasn’t too much danger of falling from the mountain. There was some still green shrubbery around the area, and it’d provide food, although not much.

________________________________________ Seeing that Nero had finally managed to lure in the pretty mare, Mina shook her mane, and glared at the mare for a moment, letting her know who was dominant. "I'm Mina, I overheard your name is Rome correct? We can have a more proper introduction once we find shelter, as the rain seems to be causing a problem," she nickered confidently, before turning and lifting her head, rounding up her two energetic fillies quickly and nudging them along with her head and tail high. Mina glanced back to make sure Nero had gathered the mares. They needed to get out of this valley, the water was already halfway up her hooves. She kept it a bit slow, as Ava and herself were both pregnant. There was no use in killing the unborn foals simply to go a bit faster. The black shire mare trotted up the hill of the valley, only to be met by another valley, this one even more filled with water. She was soaking wet and annoyed. Mina glanced around the area, finally spotting a nice shelter a bit of a ways away. There were many cedar trees and a nice rocky overhang, with a bit of dry grass near it. Mina glanced back at the herd and huffed, trotting towards the spot. She reached her head down and checked on her two fillies. Lovey was fine, as Mina patted her down with her muzzle. She found a scratch on Somba's leg, however, and rage filled the mare. She pinned her ears and huffed, taking in the scents around it. No, it hadn't been anyone in the herd. She'd injured herself, probably on a stone or something. It wasn't bleeding, and was a small cut. It'd be okay. Mina calmed herself, and lightly nibbled at Somba's mane comfortingly. The shire mare sighed once more, checking the two fillies before permitting them to play once more. Mina lifted her head and confidently strutted towards Rome, and relaxed a bit once coming in contact with the mare. She tilted her head slightly, "So where'd you come from, well, before this herd?" It'd be easy enough to start a conversation with, and perhaps they'd have something in common. Mina glanced back at her fillies but for a moment, wringing her tail nervously. No, they were older now and could be independent. "The rain is terrible; in all my years I doubt I've ever seen it this bad." It was terrible indeed. The valleys were already saturated, and some of them were even beginning to fill up. They were on the hill between some of the valleys though, so they'd be fine for a while. The grass was still extremely wet, and destroyed. It'd get worse as time wore on though, so hopefully this monsoon like weather would end shortly

Lovey sighed, stopping her play as Mina swooped in and nudged her away. Lovey frowned, but of course, Somba followed along. Lovey flicked her tail, watching as her mama began to pick up the pace. Oh! They were going somewhere new! Lovey pricked her ears, and flagged her tail happily. Of course, her younger sister copied her actions. Lovey always loved seeing the new sights, although she didn't like the stop in play, exploring was always fun too. This rain, though, was annoying. It was cold, and wet of course. But the wind just made it colder.
Somba followed everything her big sis did as always. She shuddered in the cold, and glanced up at her mama, before stumbling on a rock, and cutting her leg a bit. She huffed, but it wasn't that painful so she kept going. Her mother and sister remained oblivious, so there was no need to draw attention to such a minor wound. Besides, getting out of this weather was much more important at the moment. Somba huffed, as they finally stopped. There were many tall trees, and an overhang of sorts. Somba reared playfully, but her mother nudged her down, and checked Lovey over, then herself. Panic and rage filled her mother's eyes for a second, and she sniffed the wound. She pinned her ears, but let it be.
Somba trotted away, and tugged Lovey's forelock. "You're it loser!" Lovey snorted and dashed after her sister, who darted ahead. She raced about, weaving between horses and trees, despite the rain. Somba finally slowed, as she slid across the wet grass, nearly crashing into the overhang. She tripped up, and Lovey pulled her forelock, prancing away. "Now who's the loser?" She asked; prompting Somba to immediately stand back up. They continued this game for quite the while.

Chrys was glad this mare didn’t seem to see her as a threat. The light mare flicked her ears slightly. “And it’s nice to meet you as well, Enola.” She glanced at the foal a bit away. “Well I’m glad that poor filly’s alright. It must’ve been traumatic, to have to lose her herd and mother, then nearly drown.” She sighed, feeling sorry for the poor thing. She flicked her pale tail and grazed a bit, before lifting her head. “So where do you come from then- I mean, before you joined this herd?” She asked. Chrys softly, calmly laid her head on the mare’s shoulders to ask permission to groom her, as a bonding sorry of thing. She’d like to befriend this mare if she could. Enola seemed wise and fair, and most of the other mares in the herd seemed to have a friend or foal to look after. Chrys watched as the rain continued to fall slowly. The storms weren’t even on and off, it wasn’t just a continuous stream of water from the sky. At least they had shelter of sorts, and wouldn’t be too wet after it all, although food would certainly be scarce. The fun mare glanced around patiently. Hm, well- there were some grasses here, and some smaller plants under the trees, although she had a feeling they wouldn’t venture far under those trees, where any predatory creatures would surely be lurking. Chrys gazed off into the forest. She didn’t seem to see anything startling now, at least, so perhaps they would be safe for a while. Maybe those terrible creatures would even die with this flood. Chrys recalled a year ago, autumn, when a strange creature had attacked her herd. It’d been an orange color with a black version of what looked like brindle found in horses. It wasn’t larger than any wolf she’d ever seen, and it’s teeth.. could rip a horse open in seconds. Her stallion hadn’t died that day, but he’d certainly gotten himself some major scratches instead. Chrys glanced towards Alfie, her handsome friesian stallion. She hoped nothing of the like ever happened to him. He was so strikingly handsome, with his dark coat and mane and tail. She wondered now what their foal could possibly look like, given a light mare and such a dark stallion.

Cupid trotted alongside the herd as they were moved by the bossy Akhal-Teke stallion. Cupid had broken her promise to herself, joining a herd like this. And allowing herself to be covered for the first time! She'd resisted it for four years now, but she'd finally broken, allowing a stallion to be within feet of herself! The dun mare slightly pinned her ears. How could she be such a pushover? She flicked her tail and glanced over at an older mare and a filly or yearling at her side. She moved towards them with her tail lashing out at the flies threatening to bite her dun coat. Cupid softly nickered to them, "Hello.. I'm Cupid. Who might you two be," she asked, although mainly directed the question to the older mare. She was a pretty thing, a gorgeous paint mare. "I'm A Taste of Heartbreak- although most just call me Cupid." She said with a slight flick of her ear, her southern accent drawling out in her words. Cupid slowly extended her nose to exchange scents with the two females, flicking herl tail and lightly shaking her leg. "I never did catch the stallion's name, he's been so busy." She said with obvious distaste. She despised stallions, a mare's companionship was always much more appreciated by the dun. Again those thoughts returned that she'd allowed a stallion to cover her, and she clamped her tail down, forcing herself not to pin her ears. Her abdomen was already a bit bigger, being pregnant for about one season, probably a bit more. Soon enough the foal would be here, who she was sure she'd despise! “I think I do despise this rain, it’s so cold, and it seems like it’ll never stop! These are the times when I wish I still had a barn and those two legged creatures.” The beautiful dun mare lashed her tail and shook her mane annoyedly.

Trotting over to Jericho, she stopped a few feet away. "Jericho?" She neighed, warily gazing at Neptune. Another sharp kick alerted her, and she shifted uncomfortably. The foal would probably come early spring, which was not far off. Kaia secretly couldn't wait, for Jack was growing up.

and pulled a sprig from the end of his mane. Sara hoped she would become important to him eventually, like Inez and Ivy. She was carrying his foal, and was one of the rare mares that could. It was a surprise to her that Inez and Ivy could carry his foals, but then, they must have been lucky. Pulling another twig form his mane, she looked up at him. "Cerberus," She started. "If we have a filly, what would you name her?" Sara asked. Sara had a feeling that her first foal would be a filly.

"Storm, Storm, wanna play? We can see if the other fillies want to play too!" He suggested, and even called out to the older ones.
"Hey! Hey you guys! Wanna play?" He called. Jack jumped around like a rabbit, wanting to play.

I had to learn to graze when mama died, and chew food for Phantom, but then Phantom fell of a cliff." She told Ameena. "I don't think I should nap now. But I will lay here. Elena slowed her pace, beginning to walk as they approached the building. When she saw one of their mares laying on the ground trembling, worry shone in her eyes and she went forward to Sola. Alex and Symphony had gone closer to her too, and she decided to stay back and allow for them to speak. The Kabarda sighed, hanging her head a bit and going again to the large entrance. The mare's withers shook, shivering from the cold. She pawed the ground, sadness taking the place of worry in her expression. Oh, how she wished they would all stay safe in this horrid weather.

The mare trotted through the trees, keeping her head alert with a soft, curious expression on her face and her hooves high. She didn't want to get her beautiful white legs too dirty; aristocrats did not get messy. With a flick of her tail, Cherie exited the forest and out onto a small hill. Worry shone in her eyes as she looked down at the rising water levels below her, and she sighed. Oh how she wished to be safe, warm, and in the company of her master. Even another horse would be lovely. She let out a small nicker, her elegant head turning.

A foal was in there, and as much as it may have pleased Hera to think about a little one running about, it was clouded with fear. Her foal was going to be half draft, and she knew that it might not go well for her. The odds weren't in the golden-coated female's favour, nor was it for her little foal. She closed her eyes for a moment, sighing sadly as she thought about it further, realizing how much trouble she had gotten into after mingling with Alex. Could this be her last autumn? All her life at risk because her heart skipped a beat when she was around a silly stallion that ended up leaving her without second thought? It was a awful thought, and she was ashamed in herself.

ARIA
Mare Eleven Arabian Foals: sonata Stallion: Icarus Heat: covered tags; herd
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
aria trudged through the thick mud, each footstep earning a grunt of effort from her. She wondered how it was for dear Sorreli, Daae's sweet little filly. Though they were sheltered from the rain, the ground beneath them was unsteady and even her sure-footed grasp couldn't help her as she almost slipped on a smooth, mud-ridden stone. It took a moment for her to regain herself from it, though then moved closer to Icarus, Daae & Sorreli.
Aria opened her jaws, parting them just slightly as she nickered softly to Daae and began to groom her wet mane. She gently tugged out any knots, or even a few slick pieces of mud that clung to her. Her ears pinned to her head as another roar of thunder cut through the dark, gloomy sky. A few seconds passed and then a strike of lightning followed after the thunder, the storm suddenly awakened by the violent white flash before turning back to the horrid shade of dark, almost black grey.

NEPTUNE
Mare twelve thoroughbred Foals: none Stallion: Jericho // lead mare Heat: covered tags; herd
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The brindle thoroughbred perked her bay ears as her stallion spoke, listening as he trailed off for a moment as she inspected his wounds. Nothing too bad, she suspected they'd be well healed up by the time snow fell. She wondered how they would all fare by the time winter fell, and she knew that as lead it was she who would be responsible for finding shelter for them all. Her ears flicked for a moment, settling in the direction of Jericho as he spoke. She could tell how much this mare meant to him, and it was rather sweet. She wasn't sure what happened between Jericho & Fable, but she knew it was something important. "Hm, I think we have some time to spare." She said to him, wondering if he would share his little story. It intrigued her, honestly, but she knew if it was private than she would badger him to speak about it. She let out a gentle nicker, quiet and soft as he touched her stomach. It was now round, and larger than normal, which excited her. She had a foal on the way, a lovely little foal. A wave of fondness came over her, looking at Jericho with love. Neptune was lucky, and she knew it well. She had an amazing stallion, a amazing herd and a foal on the way.

ADELAIDE
Mare thirteen hanoverian Foals: none Stallion: Alfie Heat: covered tags; herd, arizona
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Adelaide flicked her ears forwards as arizona spoke, asking if they should return with the herd. "Indeed, love. I can introduce you to all the others if you'd like?" Adelaide asked, wondered if the filly wanted to go up to talk to some of them or let the dappled hanoverian tell her about her glorious herd members. She knew she was sad, as she didn't have anyone to play with. It was at times like this that she her heart was struck with sadness, wishing her son was still around instead of gone because of those awful wolves. She knew he would be just a few months older than Arizona, and they'd have a ball playing and romping around. Now, though, she had another foal. Though not Adelaide's by blood, Adelaide felt that it was now her responsibility to take care of this young one, little Arizona. The dappled mare smiled softly as her stallion nudged her forwards, and she gave him a quick affectionate nuzzle before watching him go off to the other mare that had been following them.

MERCI
Mare twelve marwari Foals: none Stallion: anubis Heat: covered tags; Anubis
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Merci watched as a new mare approached, walking with the same poise and elegance that she did herself. She was yet another of the prized akhal-teke, a breed that was famed just like her own, the Marwari. Her curled ears flicked with interest as she spoke, learning that her name was requiem. She seemed to be proud about it, aswell as everything else she said. Merci stepped forwards, at the front of the herd to further inspect the two newcomers. Both rather pretty, she thought that they'd been a fine companion to be with as they traveled. She nickered in welcoming once, a smile tugging at her lips in a friendly way.

QUINLANN
stallion fifteen oldenburg thoroughbred mix Foals: none in rp mares: miss tags; herd, Tourmaline
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Quinlann watched as the mare approached, picking up her hooves to make herself walk in a fulid, rather graceful motion. Her neck was raised, eyes set infront of her and body radiating a confident vibe from her mud-soaked coat. Though she was mostly covered in mud, her beautifully marked face already hinted at the gorgeous coat that lay beneath the mud. He gave a quick nicker to miss, beckoning her forwards too to further greet the mare. He made sure his distance was displayed, keeping a far bit of ground between the pair as she snorted in warning. "Hello, love." He began, "What's a pretty lass just as yourself wandering alone in such a storm for?" Quinlann did truly wonder how such a mare wasn't with a herd at this time of year, espically in the rain.

DANTE
Stallion fourteen thoroughbred Foals: none in rp mares: rizzo, jolene, pandora tags; herd
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Dante watched as the mares fought once more, though it calmed down as pandora led them to shelter. Dante then shifted over to Jolene, who seemed to be still rather annoyed. He made sure that he was tensed, ready to spring away if she suddenly lashed out at him. He nickered to her, his deep, husky voice caring and gentle as it could be. He hoped all his prized mares were alright, aswell as warm and safe in this weather. The pinto stallion's nostrils flared, catching the tantalizing scent of Jolene's heat.

SYMPHONY
Mare fourteen appaloosa mix Foals: none Stallion: Alex Heat: two tags; Herd, Sola
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The small appaloosa mix watched as another mare approached, one that was just slightly larger than her in height. She seemed very young compared to Symph. "Hello, Elena." She replied smoothly, smiling softly. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." Symphony continued, inspecting the mare further. She seemed sweet by the looks of it. Her attention was pulled away as a mare stumbled near to them, looking frail and weak. She trotted over to her, abandoning her conversation and looking with concern at the mare. She sniffed her softly, giving a few gentle nickers to the mare.

SEREIN
mare seven paint foals: none stallion: open Heat: three tags; khaki
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Rain whipped at her face, her pinto pelt dripping wet as the storm continued on. She was a pitiful sight to see by many means, she looked truly done with everything. her head drooped low with exhaustion, ears pinned flat against her head and mud-soaked coat clinging to her skinny body. Her ribs showed, and each breath seemed to be heaved with exhaustion. Suddenly, a nicker could be heard faintly through the harsh winds, causing her head to snap up in alarm. Her whole body flinched back, legs scrambling to run and almost giving out beneath her. The whites of her eyes showed, fear radiating off of her as she saw a stallion in the distance. Her breathing became quickened, and she practically trembled as she tried to step backwards, away from the stallion.
