"Why thank you madam. You have a very nice name." Anubis replied, the stallion actually quite flattered at the mare's compliment. He glanced up at the sky and he noticed it was even darker than before. "Well, we really should be going, come along" He said, nudging the sabino Marwari mare into the herd, Anubis gazed at the land around them real quick, checking for any more straggling mares but it appeared he and his herd were alone.
Anubis rounded up the mares once more and started to drive them forwards towards a small mountain range he knew of. Anubis had thought the rain would have ceased after a little but sense it only seemed to be getting heavier with no blue skies in sight he thought there might be some hard times up ahead. He knew the fall season was prone to hurricanes, massive storms with high winds and potential flooding. The mountain he was going to had trees to shelter in as well as open space if they feared the trees may fall and they could go to higher grounds if it did indeed start flooding.
The mountain wasn't far from view from now and Anubis started to ask the mares to move faster, the black stallion making large,
quick sweeping motions around the herd to keep them all grouped up together, nipping lightly at their heels if any mare decided to refuse or slow down. They can slow down when they reach the shelter.
Some of the older mares up front seemed to be having an argument, he could hear a squeal and see some ear pinning. When he came up on their side he bared his teeth and pinned his ears, warning the mares to cut it out and behave before returning to his sweeping pattern to keep everyone grouped up.
They finally reached their destination, a small mountain range, the base of which was densely packed with trees. When they neared he finally let them slow but continued to push them further until they were all a good distance from outside. He knew some of the mares did not like moving so fast in the rain but Anubis did not care. He wanted out of the open as soon as possible to avoid being directly struck by lightning. Some of the mares would slip but oh well. Learn to get good and not slip.
Here under the trees rain still fell from the leaves and branches but at least they weren't getting as much rain as they did out in the plains and the trees would act as a wind barrier. Anubis nibbled at some of the thin sparse grass that grew around the trees before examining his herd.
With a soft snort Anubis made his way into the middle of the herd to talk to the younger gray Akhal-Teke mare who was standing beside another gray Akhal-Teke, but the other mare looked to be a few years older. Anubis did not know either of the mares very well, both had just kind of slipped in when he was busy and he wanted to know more about them. Not because he was in love or fascinated with them or anything, but simply because it irritated him when he did not know something.
"I don't think we've met yet. I'm Anubis and you are?" He asked in a calm, almost emotionless voice. Anubis usually kept his tone neutral and even-tempered sounding, even when he's actually experiencing extreme rage or annoyance on the inside. His voice only takes on happy or flirtatious notes when he's trying to win over or cover a mare.

Spring and summer had gone by quickly. Fall hard arrived in the blink of an eye. There was a slight nip in the air at first and then the storm rolled in. Dark ominous clouds loomed above them and not long after heavy rain fell from them. His coat was soaked like many others in the herd. After covering Catcher he had wanted to go talk to the new mare who had mysteriously appeared from seemingly no where with his old lead's filly but now with the change and weather they couldn't keep standing out here.
Rev seemed to get the idea it was time to move and Riot helped keep everybody together. He snaked the mares into a tight group behind Revolution, the gray Arab stallion being especially careful to keep everyone together this time after what happened last winter. A shiver ran down his spine at the thought. He lost twenty mares and foals in that storm. He had managed to get a few of his mares and foals back, but not everyone. Most were still gone, presumably in new herds or, more likely, dead. Riot did not ever want to go through that again, losing his most beloved mares and children, especially in such a tragic way with no possibility of knowing if anyone who was gone was okay. However, while he was strict to keep everyone together, especially the foals, he did not push them, letting the herd mostly go at their own pace. Moving everyone quickly would only endanger the young foals in the herd.
They could easily slip and break a leg or get trampled by accident.
Even after weeks the rain has yet to let up, the ground beneath them, once so thirsty for water after the hot summer, was full and could hold no more. The ground had turned to mud and large puddles had formed here and there. The storm did not seem like it was going to weaken or go away any time soon and he worried if the lands would flood.

Ameena softened her gaze slightly as the Akhal-Teke silently surrendered without a fight but kept it cold for everyone else. Good, now she just has three more mares to assert her position over. Flicking her white tail gently over her white hocks she turned her gaze back to Delgado as he spoke, the stallion inviting her and her colt to the herd. As he stepped back, allowing her in Ameena strode into the middle of the herd. Standing tall and proud before lowering her head and making a sweeping motion with her ears pinned to establish dominance over the three remaining mares, asking each and everyone to take a step back. If they obey her command and move Ameena has effectively established her rank over everyone.
She did not bother to check on Apollo, she could feel him at her hip and barrel. Over the last month with the annoying, distracting Marielle no longer there Ameena had the time to hammer into her colt to stay close to her at all times. He was as well trained as a working Border Collie now so she knew she didn't need to fret about him wandering off in relatively calm situations like this.
The dark clouds that had loomed above them for several hours finally started to let go of their load, a cloudy day turning into a rainy one and it rained hard. They need to move now, get under some shelter before it gets worse.
She turned around, not waiting to see if anyone had issues with her taking over, casting Delgado a glance as she moved past him she started to lead the herd to a heavily wooded forest she knew of not too far away from here. She expected the mares to follow her now and for Delgado bring up the rear and help keep everyone grouped up around her.
When they reached the shelter Ameena took her spot in the middle and groomed her spotted colt, casting wary glares at any of the mares who dared to look at him. After the whole ordeal with Marielle, Ameena was extremely paranoid about having any mare near her colt.

Apollo stopped as soon as his mother did, spotted ears flicking forward as a stallion and his small herd came into view.
He did not pay him much mind, only looking at him for a few seconds before focusing on his mother. His mother moved in front of him suddenly, no doubt to protect him but Apollo wanted to look at the stallion some more. The colt lowered his head to peek under his mother's leg at the tall dark stallion. He noticed no other colts in the group he could play and spar with. It was just the four mares and the stallion. He looked friendly enough, even though he had a few fresh cuts on his body, perhaps he'd be willing to teach Apollo how to be a strong stallion? Since his father wasn't going to be there anymore to teach him that.
Apollo stuck by his mother side as she moved, the colt hardly comprehending anything that was happening. He was spaced out really, thinking back on the summer days. Thinking about Marielle and how his dad had died so gruesomely. He ignored the rain pelting his skin, he ignored the beads running down his face. Besides making sure he was near his mother, he thought of nothing else currently happening around him. When they reached the shelter Apollo remained rather still and emotionless, only occasionally grooming his mother in return for a few brief seconds.
Fable

Fable smiled warmly to the two fillies. They were both very pretty with unique patterning. Candy was lucky. Fable lowered her head to boop the two foals noses in greeting. Hopefully Myth could make friends with one of them. Fable felt so happy and at peace for the first time in a year being back beside Candy. It was good to see to the mare had not died and had successfully birthed her own, healthy foals.
Fable's mood soured as Jericho approached however. Shooting the stallion a death stare as he nudged Candy, looking away with her head high when he stopped in front of her. Over the past seventeen months Fable had developed a growing resentment to the Clydesdale cross. She did not forget how Jericho had chosen Candy over herself. How he chose a mare that would have been fine over a mare he had given a death sentence to. No, no, don't die with friends and family, go off to die with two lone stallions who don't care about you even though it's entirely my fault that you're going to die. Just thinking about that day was starting to get her all riled up again. So much pent up rage and sadness.
Flattening her ears as the stallion spoke she closed her eyes and wrung her tail. Fable was making it clear that she did not want to hear the stallion's words or pathetic apologies. 'Foolish'? He was fourteen bloody years old at the time and had been wild most of his life. He should have known better. He probably did know. He just didn't care, she bets that he'd cover any mare no matter how small just for even a minuscule chance at further spreading his bloodline.
Opening her eyes briefly she glanced at Candy and Jericho before huffing in anger and closing her eyes once more.
It wasn't fair. Why did Candy get to stay with a stallion who loved her for years while Fable was merely tossed around from stallion to stallion. All in a year she went from to being with Jericho to Karlos and Vagabond to Griffin then to Pilgrim and lastly to Donovan.
"Go. Away." She replied in a low, nearly emotionless voice save for a slight quiver in 'away'.
Storm clouds had moved in at the same time as Fable's mood shift. There was loud thundering and flashes of distant lightning. What a nice coincidence, it represented her current emotions quite nicely. It was raining hard now, soaking everybody's pelts, manes and tails. Looking up at the herd no one had bothered to make a move for shelter yet. What's the matter, no strong competent lead mare around? She did notice Tessa was gone, good. Perhaps Fable could take her spot back.
Taking charge Fable turned around and started walking, speaking loudly over her shoulder so the herd could hear, "Come on, let's get out of the rain." Fable knew a spot not too far away, near where she'd given birth to Myth. Walk a little ways past that and there was a nice small mountain with lots of small and tall fir and cedar trees, trees that'd provide plenty of shelter from the wind and rain. She expected for Jericho to round up the mares and drive them after her.

Myth gently touched her small muzzle to the tall mare's large one. The mare was extremely tall and sort of scary in that regard. Fable was quite small, Myth not too far behind her in size, but can still be scary. Myth doesn't want to see this much taller mare when she's angry. While Myth was a tall filly and would one day be as tall as the pinto mare, for now she was still short, perhaps about six to eight inches shorter than her dam and quite vulnerable and defenseless still.
When she pulled away myth turned to look at the young filly beside her, the pinto filly haven taken a few steps towards her now and checking her out. Myth nickered a hello, stretching to exchange scents with the filly but before she could the filly was startled by a raindrop. Myth couldn't help a little, her reaction was funny. Myth looked up as an even larger Clydesdale approached. He looked to be a stallion like Donovan but bay. He was much more her color and seemed to know her mother, she wondered briefly if he was her father but quickly shook her head, dismissing the thought. No, he was far too big boned to be her dad. Myth was lithe,
the exact opposite of the big-boned Clydesdale.
She glanced between her mother and the Clydesdale as they interacted. He didn't make her mom happy so Myth took an immediate disliking to the stallion. Copying her movements, Myth turned her head to the side, refusing to look at him as well. When her mother moved Myth trotted after her with her tail flagged, the filly sticking close to the bay mare's hip.

Skiron turned his gaze away from the buckskin mare as his dad kept moving. Skiron had his ears flattened against his neck to prevent water falling into them but that didn't stop the water going into his nose and eyes. The young colt would shake his head often and lash his pale tail in irritation. The white spotted blanket on his back was dirty and now much more of a light cream color. His golden legs turned brown, mud caked all the way up to his knees and hocks. The air was getting colder and the grass dying. It could not be any more miserable.
He sighed softly. He missed his mom. His ears pricked for a second as Zeus spoke before quickly going back to their flattened state. Skiron eyed the muddy mountain before shaking his head. "No... I don't think that's a good idea." Skiron glanced at the plains behind them. Many a large rock and boulder stuck out of the ground. They had climbed so high already and gone so far, it'd be a long, painful way down if one of them were to have a bad slip. Racing was definitely not a good idea. He turned back just in time to watch Zeus do exactly that, the yearling colt slipping due to the treacherous conditions. The new mare was now near them and helped Zeus back to his feet. Skiron was inwardly amused by the sight.
The amusement was short lived however and Skiron slipped back into a gloomy mood. No mother around to teach or comfort him, all Zeus wanted to do was play and Thowra paid him absolutely no mind.

Pepper stood next to Riff as they moved, offering her shoulder for support if the pale stallion wished. Pepper hoped the walk to shelter was not too much further, progress was excruciatingly slow with Riff's injury. His movements very much reminded her of that horrible time her daughter was attacked by that huge maned lion.
Pepper nearly jumped out of her skin as a stranger's voice reached her ears through the heavy rainfall. To their side was a dapple gray mare, the same breed as Pepper but she could not tell anything else about the mare for the rain was too heavy. While she could hear her voice, her words were almost indecipherable however Pepper was able to piece together that the mare had said something about her filly being hurt. Pepper pinned her ears, eyes bouncing around nervously. Surely if she had a filly it meant she had a stallion, and if not, if her filly was hurt than something must have hurt it yes? That'd mean danger is nearby. Pepper did not want any thing else coming up to them after the fight with the massive Shire stallion.
When Riff replied to her, basically shrugging the mare off Pepper nodded her head in agreement before following after Riff with her twins in tow.
Alkun & Empress

Alkun stuck close next to Empress and while Empress seemed to be not handling the weather well, her golden ears pinned flat against her sleek neck, Alkun pranced after his mother, tail held high and head tucked to his neck as he kept a look out for threats. He glanced at his sister once more and through the rain Alkun noticed some weird coloring on her ears. While he could swear they were all golden before, now they had some white hairs on them, similar to a roan horse like Ohanzee but roan horses are born roan. Weird. Anyways, back to guard duty.
Alkun noticed the Arab mare quickly as he was on high alert. She was a gray like his mother, but while his mother was a rose gray, the new mare was a dapple gray. Alkun tilted his head, mares were a good thing yes? But then he shook his head. No, not a good thing, the mare should have a stallion. He pinned his ears and bared his little teeth in warning to the mare, telling her with his body language to heck off, he didn't care about her filly. As his father spoke Alkun nodded his head once in agreement, letting out a slight 'hmmph!' before trotting after the group once more.
Empress paid little mind to the new mare, her white tail wringing nonstop. This rain was so annoying! It had been going on for practically forever now, does it ever stop? It got into her nose and eyes and her ears until just recently when she learned to keep them flat. As the herd moved once more Empress glanced at her brother who was strutting around like their dad wasn't in pain, their mother wasn't bloodied and the sky wasn't raining. He annoyed her so much.
She noticed Alkun had a straight profile head, unlike herself and her mother who had the distinctly dished head of Arabians. He was different from them, giving Empress another reason to tease and taunt the colt. She gave the buckskin colt a sharp nip on his neck for being different, for not being as elegant as themselves before quickly skittering away towards Menhit.
The colt nipped her back before she could make her escape however. Empress squealed in anger, kicking out with both kind legs she hoped to connect with the colt but failed, Alkun had moved out of the way just in time and returned to his prancing. Menhit snorted and moved over to Menhit, her tail wringing once more.

The golden filly nearly bolted once more as a strange voice filled her ears however she made herself stay where she was when none of the others seemed alarmed. Turns out a mare had appeared, saying something about a filly. Not wanting to be involved, Menhit kept walking after Ohanzee.
With her bad eye Menhit couldn't see what was at her feet very well. Normally this wouldn't be too big of a problem, but due to the current weather it made things very difficult. Quite a few small, and large, branches had fallen from the trees and unable to see them, Menhit would trip, quickly put her feet back in front of her to stay standing only to slip on the muddy ground beneath her. The yearling would struggle to stay standing, she slid across the ground often but managed to stay standing, that was till now.
Another small branch she could not see. She stepped right on it and it moved in the soft ground, rolling forward and causing her to lose her footing. She tried to stay standing but failed, her muddy hooves flailing around wildly as the golden yearling went crashing to the ground, sliding forward a couple feet before stopping.
Menhit laid on the ground for a few seconds with her eyes screwed shut, breathing heavily, still recovering from the panic she felt falling. She slowly got back up onto her feet, testing each leg gingerly before standing. Other than a minor scrape here and there from some rocks on the ground she had skid over, she was mostly alright. The whole left side of her body however now had a thick layer of mud, all the way from her cheek, to her hindquarter and down her legs. She pulled her ears back in embarrassment and for once, the filly was glad she could not see with her left eye. She did not want to see the stares she'd receive from the rest of the herd. She shook her body once in a vain attempt to rid herself of the mud before continuing the walk to shelter, Empress now by her side.
