Khatar tilted his head ever so slightly, his amber eyes searched the female's face for any sign of lying or ulterior motives. "But rarely is not never. I prefer not to risk a bite." Khatar rumbled softly. He swung his head to the side as he heard another dog approach, his hackles raising slightly he got ready to defend himself from a possible attack but it was just a scout from his pack, Vernon, a quiet and serious rottweiler. Khatar felt a little better no longer being left alone with a she wolf. Khatar is confident in his abilities to fight other dogs and take down prey, but wolves. Wolves are different, they're often so much powerful than a dog and have better reflexes. And while some breeds of dogs can best a lone wolf just by themselves, wolves are often in family packs. No single dog stands a chance against a pack of wolves.
Vernon started talking to the she wolf, which is probably for the best as Khatar is a rather silent dog as well. As Vernon spoke to the female Khatar eyed her once for weaknesses and for signs of deception.

He was a little sad that Sampson did not also take him up on his offer, but Max understands. He watched the male walk away to rest on a rock. He always was a bit quiet, a bit solitary. Looking back at it, it's somewhat surprising he approached in the first place. He turned back to Honami as she spoke, accepting his offering, and Max wagged his tail as fast as he could in response.
He spun around happily in a tight circle, responding in a low growling/talking sound Huskies often make. Humans who do not know better often mistake it for aggressiveness, but usually knowledgeable people and other dogs knows it holds no anger or aggression. "You're w-" Max stopped his spinning, ears shooting forward and eyes becoming intense as he stared at a bird that had flown overhead and landed twenty meters away from them. He lowered himself to the ground, chest just barely scraping against the dirt.
He got ready to start moving towards it but the bird quickly flew away. Max watched it fly away before returning to his happy,
relaxed stance. "Welcome. Max finished with a small smile.
He rolled over onto his back and wiggled around a little in boredom as Honami ate. When she finished Max leapt to his paws,
falling back into a play bow he asked excitedly, "Hey, you want to play a game or something else fun? I'm a little bored."
