Effie woke with a sudden jolt, scrambling to get her legs beneath her, she panted, it had only been a nightmare. Which had caused her to fall off the backseat of the rusted minivan, either way, it was all the same. Each night was beginning to be harder and harder to sleep through; the energy was draining, her life felt as if it was fading away. Effie missed her human, she missed the morning jogs, but most of all she missed the way her human spoke to her as if she understood every word she said.
Sighing heavily Effie peaked out of the window to see who was up. The pack was looking a little deserted, oh! There was Chica waddling by, wonder where she is going? Effie couldn't help but smile; corgis had such a sashay way of walking it made her want to giggle. Crouching down Effie soared out of her minivan window, shaking the bed dust from her white pelt she yawned. Even though she should probably go off and hunt something, despite her horrid stalking skills, Effie couldn't get her day started without a morning jog. It was the only thing that she had left of her human.
How wonderful that sun felt along her back as she turned away, headed in the opposite direction of Chica. Morning strolls weren't a thing that she wanted to share with anyone; sometimes she wondered why she even bothered joining the pack. Surely her human would come back one day. Her pace started off as a slow jog; her eyes were bright, almost as bright as the shining sun. Hello beautiful world she thought, it felt so good to stretch out, to be away. Effie's stride lengthened, her muscles rippled under her dirty white pelt, before she could even think about controlling herself, her morning jog had turned into a run.
