She mumbled softly in her sleep and rolled onto her back, paddling her legs in the air.

Eyes shift in myriad hue,
hollowing from the wearying
nights of unblinking watch
as innumerable miles pass
beneath a fatigued soul.

I am she; my spirit grows
thin as the gentle curtain
of eons settles over reticent
dusk, starved for the day's
rich history.

Each thread drawn to it is
plucked, a shallow fray left
in the wake of its sudden
severing. Its modest scar
on every heart and mind will
go unnoticed and forgotten.

Each of them I commit to
memory, attaching a solemn
piece of myself to the gossamer
veil of time that billows across
a ceaseless and unbroken sky.

He laughed softly when he saw Jenna paddling, and dropped the thrush close to her nest. Jenna's rib seemed to have healed well, if she was able to move around like that again. It had been quite a long time, but Wasabi was glad that the vixen was getting better.
He softly touched her head with his nose.
"Breakfast, sleepyhead", he said, stepping back to not startle Jenna when she'd wake up.
