Her pulse weakened and each heartbeat was more delayed than the last. She took a final, soft breath, and then no more. Her heart gave one last thump before going still. A soft breeze ruffled the fur on her body, and she could feel her spirit lifting... lifting... She was weightless, nothing more than a downy feather on the wind. As she looked down at her broken body and Basil crying over it, she longed to comfort the sweet she-wolf. However, the wind carried carried her away before she could act, and she left both Basil and her old body behind.
