Lilly sighed.
"Fine. But we keep it between you and me. And if you cause any trouble between me and anybody else, you will damn right regret it." she said.

Sliding a piece of paper into Lilly's hand that had his phone number on it, Joseph gave a sly grin. "You know I won't. Half the girls I went out with said that I never caused trouble. And it's not like your boyfriend will know that you are gone. If he asks, just say you are going into the city to do a little shopping. Everything's on me and my credit card," he explained. He gave her a wink and got into his car.

[Berenice.]

Lilly narrowed her eyes and walked off.
"I don't want to keep anything from Clayton. I am gonna have to tell him.." she thought. Lilly sighed and carried on walking.

Owen
"Ya know, we should go outside.. All of us.. Gotta be another leash for the wolf over there." Reassured by Higgins lick that he had not offended his four legged friend. "We still don't know the whole place yet an the Woof might not know it at all." His step was quickly becoming unsteady and his words were beginning to sound odd but he felt good. Happy, almost friendly.. He just didn't much want to see people right now. The only real acceptation would be Clayton as this was his place.

Joseph pulled out of the driveway and waved goodbye to Lilly. With that, he sped away, much over the speed limit.

Higgins stood still and looked up at Owen uncertainly. He had a bad feeling about something. The usual Owen that he had known had been changed to this strange speaking and moving Owen. Higgins slowly walked forward, directing Owen to the door. His friend Rex followed behind both of them.

[Berenice.]

"What have I got myself into?" Lilly thought. She put the piece of paper in her pocket and watched Joseph drive off.

Clarissa was closing up the shelter when she decided to go see how Lilly was getting along. Little did she realize that Joe had just left her house. She wrote: 'Everything okay with you?'

[Berenice.]

Lilly texted back.
"No. I have just agreed to something I probably shouldn't have.."

Owen
Once outside he was drawn to the barns, he didn't know what was driving him but he now thought he needed a better view of the place .. It was a big 'ol farm. He found a ladder tied to one of the out buildings and started to climb. He knew the dogs couldn't follow but he didn't intend to stay up very long. "Shh.. Shhh.. I'll be right back down." Anticipating Higgins would bark as he disappeared from the dogs sight. The late adternoon sun found its way directly into his eyes as he stumbled around on the top of the building.

Clarissa sighed. Her brother had done it again. She texted: 'My brother, isn't it? Just go along with it for now. He'll probably get tired of you after a week or two.'

Higgins watched as Owen left him and Rex. For the first time in a long time, he was free. No leash holding him back from where he wanted to go. He waited for five minutes and after seeing that Owen was not coming back down, he turned and left the scene. He broke into a run where he had meant to do something ever since someone had talked mean to Owen. Higgins ran for over two hours until he found the house. He walked around back to the shed where he found Owen after he had abandoned him at the shelter for the night. After searching for a low window for him to jump into, he found just the right one: Owen's aunt's bedroom. He backed up and ran toward the window and broke it. He shook out his pelt of the glass fragments. Looking around he saw the aunt and ran toward her, teeth bared and hackles raised. He gave a steady growl and frightened her out of her wits. Looking around for something he could steal, he picked up a wig and jumped out of the window again and back toward Owen. Maybe Owen would like this. Much like wolves in the wild, Higgins was bringing his pack leader a gift--even if it was something he couldn't use!

Rex wandered down the street, back to where Clayton had first found him. Once again he was a wandering dog. However, he knew he would return home, maybe in a day or so.
