Shay smiled a bit and stammered, "Thanks." He turned away, "It's just, with all of these new pups and no new food source how are we going to survive?" He looked up to the hazy grey sky, "I just hope we can all make it especially you."
Shay let a small grin escape, "I know I can, as long as I have you For the sake of the pack, I hope you're right." He sighed and padded over to the last unturned trashcan, "Care to do the honors?"
Shay's eyes brightened up. There hidden under the rubble and dust poked out a half bag of crackers. Not very nutritious, but edible. His grin extended from cheek to cheek as he glanced over at Snowfall in disbelief. They were going to be ok.
Shay turned his head away from her, not able to keep eye contact for long. "Yeah, we did it," He stuttered. He reached down for the bag. It crinkled in his mouth as he proudly showed it to Snow. Finally, something went right!
Shay blushed (or the equivalent to wolves blushing) and bowed his head down. "Well, you're the one who found it," He muttered as he dropped the bag at her feet, "Why don't you bring it back to the camp?" He looked back up at her, relieved. This was a start, and a good one at that.
